I ASKED A SCARECROW IN OUT OF THE SNOW<br />
I asked a scarecrow in out of the snow.<br />
‘Please be a guest in my house.’<br />
The scarecrow said, ‘Can I bring a friend?<br />
For in my sleeve lives a mouse.’<br />
Into the house and out of the snow<br />
Came a small mouse and an old scarecrow.<br />
From another sleeve out popped a shrew.<br />
‘Excuse me,’ it said, ‘but can I come too?’<br />
Into the house and out of the snow<br />
Came a shrew, a mouse and an old scarecrow.<br />
Then a tiny voice called from the straw,<br />
‘Is there room in your house for just one more?’<br />
Into the house and out of the snow<br />
Came a vole, a shrew, a mouse and scarecrow.
