THE DEVIL OF A COOK<br />
I've never cooked a crocodile,<br />
I'm not partial to boiled bear,<br />
I've never fried a fox-cub<br />
(Think of all that fur).<br />
I've never whisked a weasel<br />
Or mashed a mongoose,<br />
I've never poached a pelican<br />
In the bladder of a moose.<br />
I've never sautéd snakes<br />
Or guzzled grilled gazelle,<br />
I've never tried to toast<br />
A tortoise in its shell.<br />
Liquidizing lizards<br />
And microwaving mice<br />
Might be stylish cooking<br />
But they don't taste very nice.<br />
Grating baby glow-worms<br />
Or mincing death's-head moths<br />
Does nothing for my tastebuds.<br />
(I can't stand insect broths.)<br />
