Dressed up in a lion's skin<br />
An ass, far from bright,<br />
Caused terror to its master<br />
And gave everyone a fright.<br />
Dressed up, it felt important<br />
As it sneaked out late at night<br />
To terrorize the neighbourhood<br />
While it wasn't very light.<br />
One day the ass's master<br />
Threw away his fears.<br />
Sticking through the lion's skin<br />
He saw the ass's ears.<br />
‘Stupid creature!’ yelled its master.<br />
‘Stupid! Dumb! Daft!’<br />
He hit the ass with great relief.<br />
But was nervous when he laughed.
