Fipronil is a phenylpyrazole insecticide, which is used to control fleas, ticks, ants,
beetles, termites, rootworms, and other insects. The insecticide in the form of a white
powder was registered in 1996 in the U.S for indoor pest control and commercial turf.

However, availability of various alternatives such as silica gel, boric acid, and
diatomaceous earth, which are less toxic in nature is restraining growth of the fipronil

fipronil as carcinogenic as its exposure causes malignant and benign thyroid tumors
in laboratory animals. Such adverse effects related to health is another factor that is
