Lets be clear, illegal unsafe abortion
is the termination of a pregnancy by
people lacking the necessary skills, or in
an environment lacking minimal medical
standards, or both. Some states have
proposed a ban on all abortions. Anyone
old enough to remember the trauma that
faced a pregnant family member knows
that people, especially young people, are
going to get an abortion as sure as a family
will risk separation.
All unsafe abortions are life-threatening
procedures. It includes self-induced
abortions, abortions in unhygienic
conditions, and abortions performed by a
medical practitioner who does not provide
appropriate post-abortion medical care.
About 25 million unsafe abortions
occur a year, of which most occur in the
developing world.
But somehow, we have a faction in this
nation that think it's wrong and should be
against the law.
They have only a pagan idol on their side.
They feel that gay marriage is the slippery
slope of letting women choose.
The US Supreme Court has declared
abortion to be a “fundamental right”
guaranteed by the US Constitution. The
landmark abortion case Roe v. Wade,
decided on Jan. 22, 1973 in favor of
abortion rights, remains the law of the
land. The 7-2 decision stated that the
Constitution gives "a guarantee of certain
areas or zones of privacy," and that "This
right of privacy... is broad enough to
encompass a woman's decision whether or
not to terminate her pregnancy."
You and everyone I know, counts the day
your were born, not when it is embryos or
independent, self-determining beings.
Abortion then is the termination of a
pregnancy, not a baby. A person's age is
calculated from birth date, not conception,
and fetuses are not counted in the US
Census. The majority opinion in Roe v.
Wade states that "the word 'person,' as
used in the Fourteenth Amendment [of
the US Constitution], does not include the
unborn."
So why so much energy now? It's very
likely that the GOP now thinks the tide has
turned them in 2018 losing the House. It is
all bluster now because they are losing in
every poll across the nation while Trump
jumps with glee for every percent in his
high disapproval rating.
Someone is fueling hate and sewing the
venomous seeds of division. It could even
be the devil himself.
I don't think it is the rich hating the poor
or the poor hating the rich. It may be the
poor hate the poor and the rich hate the
rich.
But its more likely the result of poor
education, employment equality. One thing
for-sure, it is creating frustration in a large
group of liberal people that seek justice.
