The culture of Mogi das Cruzes can be described as
rich, plural and diverse. The city stands out not only in
the production of fine arts, but also in the segments of
theater, music and cinema. As one of the oldest cities in
Brazil, its culture comes from its historical buildings,
from the popular culture passed down from generation
to generation, from the crops, from its immigrants and
from the exuberant Atlantic Forest that surrounds it.
The actions developed in Mogi das Cruzes in recent
years have raised the local culture to another level. “The
realization of the Cultural Center of Mogi das Cruzes,
which was a longing for decades of the artistic class
and the population in general, was an example of this
growth,” emphasizes Secretary Mateus Sartori.
The Vasques Theater.
The municipality also won other cultural spaces of
relevance, such as the House of Hip Hop, the Municipal
Studio of Audio and Music and the Municipal Art Gallery.
In addition, through partnerships, the municipality became
the stage for high-quality productions with national and
international quality and recognition. “Now, our struggle is
to implement SESC unit in our city, which will represent a
huge advance not only in the cultural aspect, but also in the
sports, education and social aspects,” says the mayor.
