AGRICULTURE MAINTAINS TRADITION
OF BOOSTING CITY’S ECONOMY

Despite the rapid urban expansion experienced by the city
in recent years, Mogi’s agriculture remains one of the highlights
of the economy. The municipality, which is considered the
Green Belt of the State of São Paulo, is the largest national
producer of products such as kaki, loquat, mushrooms, orchids
and vegetables. “The agricultural sector is responsible for more
than 10 thousand jobs and an estimated revenue of R$ 922
million/year,” said Secretary Renato Abdo.

supplies school meals to municipal schools, which
led the municipality to win the title of best school
lunch in the State of São Paulo, granted by Ong
Ação Fome Zero. “Products such as vegetables,
persimmon, mushrooms, among others, are part
of the school lunch of our more than 50 thousand
students. For this to be possible, we conducted a
broad program of training and professionalization
of the rural producer so that they could adjust
to the rules of Programa Alimentação Escolar,
