Some Examples of Our Work

Babington House Country Club
THE ACCLAIMED COWSHED REFURBISHMENT
The main contractor at Babington House approached Valley to support them on the joinery
aspect on the Cowshed and main House refurbishment. Part of the prestigious Soho House
Group, Babington House is a members club and hotel in Somerset offering luxury retreats, spa
weekends, weddings and functions so we knew that the design had to be of the highest quality.
Part of the project was to create a new entrance cafe to Cowshed Active as well as a redesigned
and re configured entrance to the sauna and steam room areas with folding designed doors
leading to the swimming pool areas.
The Soho House Group purchased an old French barn, dismantled it and shipped all the elements
to Babington House. Valley of Bath then constructed and cladded all the walls and cafe area
using the reclaimed materials. We then built, using European oak, three, 4 metre wide door sets
and a matching bar window.
All the work was built and installed by Valley of Bath and the project was finished to an
exceptionally high standard.

Period Restoration of Victorian Property in Bath
MODERN FUNCTIONALITY WHILST KEEPING PERIOD AUTHENTICITY
We were approached by a client about the possibility of replicating and replacing some of the
original period features in their beautiful bay fronted Victorian home which had been removed by
previous owners. Using traditional carpentry techniques we managed to retain the authenticity
and Victorian style whilst adding some useful modern functionality and storage.
Solution 1:
After consulting with the clients we
identified a need for some storage along
with integration of modern day technologies.
We then handmade two alcove feature units with
storage and shelving, one would house a wall
mounted television with storage below for IT and Sky
technology. The other alcove would have storage
below with traditional shelving above for display,
Valley of Bath matched the design with exsisting
panel work and traditional mouldings already in the
house all then hand finished in Farrow & Ball paint.
Solution 2:
Replace windows with traditional box sash
windows, in keeping with the style and
period of house.
Upon completing the internal furniture we were
then commissioned to replace all the windows
which included a two storey feature bay. All of the
existing window had been replaced with aluminium
framed windows, Valley undertook to build and
replace these with traditional box sash windows all
constructed in Accoya timber and hand finished in
Farrow & Ball paints.

Extension Project in Henleaze, Bristol
OPENING UP A FAMILY SPACE
Our initial brief was to build a sympathetic extension which would be in-keeping with the period
property, but evolved to include a renovation of an existing room which would act as a new,
family kitchen.
Valley built an extension which included a flat roof design which mimicked a more traditional
lead version, using old style materials. We also manufactured and fitted a hardwood lantern,
matching sliding and folding doors and windows.
This project developed during the process and also included secret cupboards, a floating
breakfast table with a stunning curved bookcase. We also fitted cold shelves in the larder for
one of the final touches. Everything was constructed in tulip timber and hand painted using
Farrow and Ball traditional colours.
Although we can’t go into specifics of the project, to replicate this type of project would require
a budget of c£22k for the kitchen and c£60k for all the building and renovation work.
