3 STEP ADMISSION PROCESS<br />
STEP 1<br />
Contact an admissions specialist at 1.877.90.<strong>Aveda</strong> or email: info@avedainstitute.ca<br />
Participate in an informational interview with the admissions specialist. The interview will<br />
include a career planning session and a tour <strong>of</strong> the facility. If you are out <strong>of</strong> province, you may<br />
do your interview via Skype.<br />
STEP 2<br />
Submit a completed aveda institute program application package including:<br />
Program application form.<br />
Deposit which is deducted from the tuition amount.<br />
Personal essay (written or video) illustrating why you would like to become a beauty<br />
industry pr<strong>of</strong>essional at the aveda institute canada. Your statement should be a<br />
minimum <strong>of</strong> one page, on 8.5 X11-inch paper or can be in a video essay form, five<br />
minutes in length.<br />
Letter <strong>of</strong> recommendation. Examples: employer, teacher, family doctor, member <strong>of</strong><br />
volunteer organization or spiritual leader. This may be a pr<strong>of</strong>essional or a character<br />
reference, preferably not from a family member or friend.<br />
Official copy <strong>of</strong> your high school transcript or equivalent general education diploma.<br />
If you do not have this you may be granted entry by writing an equivalency test.<br />
EDITORIAL PHOTOSHOOT<br />
STEP 3<br />
Submit remaining tuition or payment information form 4 weeks before your program<br />
start date.<br />
To provide exposure to all are<strong>as</strong> <strong>of</strong> the hairstyling industry,<br />
students in our Institute Hairstyling Program participate<br />
in the Session Hairdressing project that will allow them to<br />
bring their artistic vision to life.<br />
Session Hairdressers are hairstylists working in f<strong>as</strong>hion,<br />
television, movies, and industries outside mainstream<br />
salon hairdressing. Session hairdressing refers to a photo<br />
“session” where a photographer, hairstylist, make-up artist<br />
and f<strong>as</strong>hion stylist or editor collaborate to produce images<br />
<strong>of</strong> a model or celebrity wearing current f<strong>as</strong>hion or designer<br />
goods for the magazine, f<strong>as</strong>hion and advertising industry.<br />
From developing an idea, to collaborating with the creative<br />
director, photographer, make up artist, and wardrobe<br />
stylist - students will be involved in the entire process<br />
<strong>of</strong> an editorial photo shoot.<br />
Students will learn the steps necessary to direct future<br />
shoots, help build their own portfolio, and develop the skills<br />
to prepare for future success working in editorial, television,<br />
film or theatre.<br />
