Modi ASSURES to RESOLVE
Mining, Fisherman issues
· Says will work with State government to resolve the mining issue
· Similarly announces Fisherman credit card in line with Kisan credit card for financial assistance
Amidst the chants of Modi, Modi in a
packed Dr Shayamprasad Mukherjee
stadium, Prime Minister Narendra
Modi said he was sympathetic to the
issues of the mining dependents and
assured to work in tandem with the
State government to find a solution to
the issue.
Addressing a huge gathering of
nearly 30,000 in and out of the stadium,
Modi said he was aware of the mining
crisis in Goa.
“Some time back I had called the
mining dependents to Delhi alongwith
our two MPs and held discussion on
the issue at length,” he said.
However, Modi said, there are some
old issues which are causing hindrances
in solving the mining imbroglio.
“There are old laws, there is burden
of corruption of old government and as
such the mining issue is entangled in
various such problems,” he said.
He said he tried to understand the whole
issues as people’s livelihood is at stake.
“Be it with legal way or by taking
your issues to the Supreme Court, the
Delhi government will always be with
people of Goa and the State government
on the issue, that much I can assure
you,” the prime minister said.
"I also assure that will not leave any
stone unturned to solve the mining
issue. Definitely we will make all
efforts to remove the hindrances in restarting
mining in Goa.”, he added.
Sops for Fisherman
The Prime Minister further said that
his government is making all efforts to
bring about change in lives of fisherman,
who are part of Blue Revolution.
“We have made various efforts
for Fisherman. We have already
announced a new department and new
ministry in the budget,” he said.
Similarly, he continued, his government
has decided to issue Fisherman credit
card in line with Kisan credit card.
“The fisherman will get all those
facilities, which a farmer gets on kisan
credit card,” he said.
Besides, he said, his government is
trying to make the lives of fisherman
risk free.
“The government will give assistance
for modernisation of the vessels besides
we will also provide them a device with
satellite support which would give
information on weather and so also gives
indication where is a good catch,” he said.
Modi tries to impress
with Konkani
Prime Minister tried to win the hearts
of the Goans on Wednesday by starting
his address to the large gathering in
the local language Konkani.
“Saglya geomkarank maye
mogacho yevkar,” Modi said to a huge
round of applause from the crowd.
Now, you could be
hanged for taking
photos on this Thai
beach
For years, Mai Khao Beach, a skinny
strip of golden sand in Phuket has been
super popular with tourists. The reason
for this beach’s popularity is simple. It
shares a wall with Phuket International
Airport and just beyond the barrier
stretches out the tarmac on which almost
all flying in to Phuket land. That makes
the beach one of the few places where
you can get up close to a landing aircraft
and maybe even pose for the photograph.
On the approach, landing aircraft fly
directly over the beach at low altitude
before touching down. And what do you
do if you are lounging on the beach and
see a massive jet approaching? You take
a photograph, of course. Aha.
And now you are in Thai prison
on death row. This is because Thai
authorities are imposing a ninekilometre
exclusion zone around the
airport. Anyone caught flying drones,
shining lights or lasers or even taking
photographs of approaching aircraft from
the popular beach will face jail time and,
in some extreme cases, even the death
sentence. This is according to provisions
in the country’s Air Navigation Act.
And while flying drones around
airports and shining lights and lasers at
cockpits of landing aircraft are obviously
dangerous behaviour that could
endanger the lives of all passengers on
board, we are less sure of the security
risks around taking photographs of the
jets. Thai authorities claim that people
taking photographs of the landing jets
from the beach can be distracting to the
crew in the cockpit. (Maybe it’s because
pilots feel compelled to take photographs
of tourists in silly poses waiting to take
photographs with the landing jets in
the backdrop. Now we can see how that
could be a security risk.)
But for now, taking a photograph of a
jet might mean another photo session as
you are being checked in at the closest
prison.
London gets world's first 24-hour
air pollution charge zone
London is the first city in the world
to implement a 24-hour, seven day a
week Ultra Low Emission Zone, inside
which vehicles will have to meet tough
emissions standards or face a charge.
Monday's introduction of the zone,
known as the ULEZ, aims to reduce toxic
air pollution and protect public health,
according to a press release from the
office of Sadiq Khan, mayor of London.
Vehicles are responsible for around
half of harmful nitrogen oxide air
emissions in the British capital,
contributing to a toxic air health crisis
that increases the risk of asthma,
cancer and dementia as well as causing
thousands of premature deaths every
year, the release says.
"This is a landmark day for our city.
Our toxic air is an invisible killer
Pakistan said on Monday that it will
hold a technical meeting with India on
April 16 to discuss the modalities for
the corridor linking Gurdwara Darbar
Sahib in Kartarpur to Dera Baba Nanak
shrine in Gurdaspur district of Punjab.
“Continuing with Pakistan’s spirit of
constructive engagement, we have agreed
national health emergencies of our
generation," Khan said in the statement.
"The ULEZ is the centerpiece of our
plans to clean up London's air -- the
boldest plans of any city on the planet,
and the eyes of the world are on us."
Under new rules introduced April 8,
PM Modi awarded UAE's
highest civilian honor
Zayed medal for boosting
bilateral ties
The UAE recently honoured Prime
Minister Narendra Modi with the
prestigious Zayed Medal for playing a
"pivotal role" in giving a "big boost" to
the bilateral strategic ties.
President of the UAE Sheikh Khalifa
bin Zayed Al Nahyan conferred the
Prime Minister with the award, the
highest decoration awarded to kings,
presidents and heads of states.
"We have historical and comprehensive
strategic ties with India, reinforced by
the pivotal role of my dear friend, Prime
Minister Narendra Modi, who gave these
relations a big boost. In appreciation of
his efforts, the UAE President grants
Will hold technical
meet with India on
Kartarpur corridor on
April 16: Pak
him the Zayed Medal," Crown Prince of
Abu Dhabi Mohamed Bin Zayed tweeted.
"By granting our dear friend the Indian
Prime Minister the Zayed Medal, we
express our appreciation for his role and
efforts in developing friendly relations and
extending bridges of cooperation between
the UAE and the Republic of India in
various fields," The Crown Prince, who
is also the Deputy Supreme Commander
of the UAE Armed Forces, said.
The award comes in appreciation of
Modi's role in consolidating the longstanding
friendship and joint strategic
cooperation between the two countries,
the Khaleej Times reported.
to the Indian proposal for a technical
meeting on 16 April,” foreign office
spokesman Dr Mohammad Faisal tweeted.
“We expect positivity from India so that
the corridor becomes reality for 550th
celebrations (of the birth anniversary of
Guru Nanak Dev),” he further said.
polluting vehicles will be discouraged
from entering the ULEZ thanks to a
daily charge of £12.50 (around $16)
for some cars, vans and motorbikes
and £100 ($130) for trucks, buses and
coaches. The zone will cover the same
area as the existing Congestion Charge
-- collected from drivers in the city
center -- until 2021, when it will be
expanded to cover the area between
the major orbital roads known as the
North and South Circular.
Drivers can check whether their
vehicle meets ULEZ emission standards
using an online tool provided by travel
authority Transport for London.
The ULEZ is the next stage in a plan to
clean up London's air, which started
with the so-called T-charge -- an extra
charge for highly polluting vehicles in
the city center
Ola launches
crowdfunding campaign
to help build toilets for
20,000 people across India
Ola, one of the world’s largest ridehailing
platforms, on Monday launched
a nationwide crowdfunding campaign
to enable building toilets across India
to positively impact over 20,000 people
across India. Launched under Ola’s
‘My Ride. My Cause’ program, users
will be able to contribute Re. 1 per ride
from April 2 until October 2, 2019. Ola
has partnered with Gramalaya, an
approved key resource centre from
the Ministry of Drinking Water and
Sanitation, which will use the proceeds
in their ongoing efforts to build toilets
for the underprivileged across India.
The announcement follows the launch of
Ola’s April Fool’s video, “Ola Restrooms”,
which aimed at building awareness
around the need for accessible and
hygienic lavatories in India. Highlighting
the need for more public toilets in the
country, the digital campaign introduces
‘Ola Restrooms’, a new solution that seeks
to address the dearth of facilities. Known
for its unconventional campaigns, Ola
used the occasion to draw attention to a
social issue and turn it into a cause-based
initiative.
India and Pakistan last month held
a meeting of technical experts on the
Kartarpur corridor during which its
alignment, coordinates, and other
engineering aspects of the proposed
crossing points were discussed.
Later, the Pakistani cabinet
constituted a 10-member Pakistan Sikh
Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee
(PSGPC) to facilitate Sikh pilgrims
after opening of the Kartarpur corridor.
Kartarpur Sahib is located in
Pakistan’s Narowal district, about four
km from the Dera Baba Nanak shrine.

Facebook removing 1 MILLION abusive
accounts per day before Indian elections
Facebook is blocking or removing posts using artificial intelligence and machine
learning as India prepares for battle 2019 (17th Lok Sabha).
1
million abusive, misinformative
posts regarding Indian elections
are being taken down from
Facebook per day. Facebook India's
Managing Director and Vice President
Ajit Mohan said in a blogpost.
Facebook is blocking or removing
posts using artificial intelligence and
machine learning as India prepares
for battle 2019 (17th Lok Sabha).
To strengthen its system Facebook
has added 24 new languages to its
automatic translation system, 16 of
them are Indian languages.
"This dramatically reduces its ability
to spread. We continue to expand on this
initiative," Mohan wrote. Facebook has
been working on Indian elections for the
past 18 months, dozens of teams across
the globe have been working on securing
International Space
Station infested
with bacteria “Like
Gym on Earth”,
says NASA
Washington: A team of NASA
researchers, including an Indian-origin
scientist, has found the surface inside
the International Space Station (ISS) is
littered with microbes just like in a gym
or office on Earth-threatening astronauts’
health at the orbiting laboratory.
The knowledge of the composition of
the microbial and fungal communities
on the ISS can be used to develop safety
measures for NASA for long-term
space travel or living in space, said the
researchers in a paper that appeared in
the open access journal Microbiome.
Specific microbes in indoor spaces
on Earth have been shown to impact
human health.
“This is even more important for
astronauts during spaceflight, as they
have altered immunity and do not have
access to the sophisticated medical
interventions available on Earth,” said
Dr. Kasthuri Venkateswaran from the
NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)
and a corresponding author.
The researchers used traditional
culture techniques and gene
sequencing methods to analyze surface
samples collected in eight locations on
the ISS, including the viewing window,
toilet, exercise platform, dining table
and sleeping quarters, during three
flights across 14 months.
The microbes on the ISS were mostly
human-associated. The most prominent
bacteria were Staphylococcus, Pantoea,
and Bacillus.
They included organisms that are
considered opportunistic pathogens
on Earth, such as Staphylococcus
aureus, which is commonly found on
the skin and in the nasal passage and
Enterobacter, which is associated with
the human gastrointestinal tract.
There are currently six astronauts on
board the International Space Station.
Indian elections, Mohan added.
"The findings allowed us to
concentrate our work on key areas,
including blocking and removing
fake accounts; fighting the spread of
misinformation; stopping abuse by
domestic actors; spotting attempts at
foreign meddling, and taking action
against inauthentic coordinated
campaigns," he wrote in the post.
He emphasised that Facebook and its
family of apps were working towards
making sure that elections (both
foreign & domestic) are fair and free
from interference. Facebook will be
activating new regional operations
centres, focused on elections in
Singapore and Dublin, these teams
will be working with experts in Delhi
and together they will be working in
Elements
can be solid
and liquid at
same time
Scientists have discovered a new state of
physical matter in which atoms can exist
as both solid and liquid simultaneously.
Until now, the atoms in physical material
were understood to exist typically in
one of three states — solid, liquid or
gas. Researchers have found, however,
that some elements can, when subjected
to extreme conditions, take on the
properties of both solid and liquid states.
Applying high pressures and
temperatures to potassium — a simple
metal — creates a state in which most of
the element’s atoms form a solid lattice
structure, the findings show. However,
the structure also contains a second set
of potassium atoms that are in a fluid
arrangement.
Under the right conditions, over half a
dozen elements — including sodium and
bismuth — are thought to be capable of
existing in the newly discovered state,
researchers say.
Until now, it was unclear if the unusual
structures represented a distinct state
of matter, or existed as transition stages
between two distinct states.
A team led by scientists from the
University of Edinburgh used powerful
computer simulations to study the
existence of the state — known as the
chain-melted state. Simulating how up
to 20,000 potassium atoms behave under
extreme conditions revealed that the
structures formed represent the new,
stable state of matter.
Applying pressure to the atoms leads
to the formation of two interlinked
solid lattice structures, the team says.
Chemical interactions between atoms
in one lattice are strong, meaning they
stay in a solid form when the structure is
heated, while the other atoms melt into a
liquid state.
tandem with its staff in headquarters
in Menlo Park, California.
"This structure helps strengthen our
global coordination and speed our response
times, adding another layer of defence
against false news, misinformation,
hate speech and voter suppression,"
wrote Mohan, who took charge as
Facebook's India head earlier this year.
He said Facebook has gotten better
at using artificial intelligence and
machine learning to fight interference,
and tools such as artificial intelligence
and machine learning helps the
company, at a large scale, identify
abusive or violating content, quickly
locate it across the platform and
remove it in bulk, dramatically
reducing its ability to spread.
- and Facebook is looking to add more.
Amazon plans over
3000 'Project Kuiper'
satellites to spread
global broadband
(Reuters) - Amazon.com Inc on Thursday
confirmed its plan to build a network
of over 3,000 satellites through “Project
Kuiper” to provide high speed internet.
The project will launch a constellation
of low-Earth orbit satellites that
will provide low-latency, high-speed
broadband connectivity to people
globally who lack basic access to
broadband internet, the company said.
Details of the project were filed with
the United Nation’s International
Telecommunication Union last month.
Amazon’s satellite project faces stiff
competition from similar ventures from
billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk’s
rocket company SpaceX and Airbus-backed
OneWeb among others. In February,
OneWeb launched its first six satellites.
Companies such as SpaceX, LeoSat
Enterprises and Canada’s Telesat are
working to enable data networks with
hundreds or even thousands of tiny
satellites that orbit closer to Earth than
traditional communications satellites,
a radical shift made possible by leaps in
laser technology and computer chips.
Earlier this year, Jeff Bezos’ rocket
company Blue Origin also signed a deal
with Canada’s Telesat to launch part of
satellite constellation.
Japanese firm
aims to sell flying
motorbikes by
2022
Tokyo: A Japanese company is aiming to
release a mass-market flying motorcycle
by 2022, its CEO has announced.
Tokyo-based venture company A.L.I.
Technologies Inc., which mainly develops
small drones, hopes to sell the product,
called a “hover bike”, in emerging
economies in Africa, the Middle East, and
Asia with poor road infrastructure, The
Japan Times reported.
“We’ll create a (flying) bike first, in order
to get flying cars widely used in society
eventually, ” CEO Shuhei Komatsu said.
“Our hoverbike is an ensemble of
drone technologies,” he said, expressing
confidence that his company can
commercialise the flying motorcycle.
The envisioned vehicle will use propeller
power to hover dozens of centimetres
above the ground. It will stay at the
desired altitude through technologies that
use sensors to avoid obstacles.
A.L.I. Technologies is developing a
special limited version for sale around
late next year. Reservations will be
accepted in May at the earliest.
As for the mass-market model, Komatsu
said: “We want to deliver it to customers
from around 2022.”
He said the price will roughly match
those of mini-vehicles.
Facebook, Instagram
and Messenger apps
won't work on your
Windows Phone after
April 30
Facebook is pulling out its family of
apps from Windows Phone platform.
After April 30, Facebook will stop
supporting Instagram, Facebook,
and Messenger applications for
Windows Phone, confirmed a Microsoft
spokesperson. Facebook also owns
WhatsApp, but at the moment, there is
no clarity on WhatsApp support being
pulled out by the company.
The decision to end support of
Facebook, Instagram and Messenger
doesn’t come as surprise since
Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform
itself is officially dead. Also, it is
unclear exactly how many active users
the Windows Phone platform has.
The software giant officially killed
the Windows Phone business in 2016
following lackluster sales. It even
stopped issuing security and software
updates last year in December 2018.
As of now, WhatsApp only supports
Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 10
Mobile OS, but it would be just a matter
of time, when Facebook retires the
messaging application from Microsoft
store.

Apple slashes its
music streaming
app price in India
Apple has slashed the price of Apple
Music streaming app in India by 18%,
similar to a tactic that Gaana and
JioSaavn resorted to last month.
To compete with the international
brands that are expanding foot-print
in India, the country’s own music
streaming giants, JioSaavn and Gaana
recently dropped their annual fee from
Rs999 and Rs1,098 (respectively) to
Rs299, which is also a tactic to keep the
subscriber rate high.
However, both Indian services left
the pricing for monthly subscriptions
untouched atRs99, which may have
helped Apple Music decide the threshold
of their price slash to retain its position
in India. Since Apple Music now has
the same price point, it could lead users
to shift preferences. However, with
Apple Music's new per month plan, the
iPhone-maker has become cheaper than
Spotify, that charges Rs119 for a month's
subscription in India. Also, in a recent
survey, it was revealed that though
Spotify is now in the country, Gaana
remains the most popular such service
in the country.
Donald Trump’s
unauthorised use of
Dark Knight Rises music
receives legal threat
from Warner Bros
US president Donald Trump’s
unauthorised use of a track from the
Dark Knight Rises in a campaign video
has received a strong response from
Warner Bros, who’ve said they’re
taking ‘appropriate legal channels’ to
have the video taken down, which it
was shortly afterwards.
Trump tweeted the video, which
contains the track Why Do We Fall
from Hans Zimmer’s score for the
Batman film, on April 10. The video,
according to the Wrap, shows images of
Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary
Clinton, juxtaposed with clips of the
president. He captioned the tweet,
“Make America Great Again,” in allcaps.
Warner Bros said in a statement,
“The use of Warner Bros.’ score from
The Dark Knight Rises in the campaign
video was unauthorised. We are
working through the appropriate legal
channels to have it removed.”
The studio produced each of the three
films in director Christopher Nolan’s
the Dark Knight trilogy, which have
made over $2.5 billion worldwide. The
video also uses the same font as Nolan’s
Batman films.
Aditya Roy Kapur fans, rejoice!
Kalank actor reveals he has a
music album in the pipeline
For those of you who watched the
latest season of celebrity talk show
Koffee With Karan, you would know
that Aditya Roy Kapur, besides being
a wonderful actor is also just-asamazing
an actor. The episode was
aired in February this year, wherein
the Ok Jaanu actor had appeared with
Sidharth Malhotra and Karan had made
him croon a song and play his guitar.
That was the time when we got to
see a glimpse of Aditya’s singing
talent on national television and were
instantly spellbound with his magical
John Mayer-like voice. Now, as per a
report in Mumbai Mirror, the 33-yearold
actor is all set to begin work on a
musical album within six months.
“Music was a part of my life even
before acting happened. But I mostly play
my guitar only for myself and sometimes
when jamming with my friends. I write
songs and there is a definite need to
express myself through my music. While
I am busy now, in six months I will have
some time to explore other things, which
is when I will be working on my album,”
Aditya told the publication.
Madonna to Perform at
Eurovision in Tel Aviv
Madonna will perform at the
Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv
in May, the European Broadcasting
Union has confirmed.
The singer will likely perform two
songs – a popular hit and a new song.
The pop superstar and the contest's
producers have previously butted
heads, apparently because the new
song she plans to debut contains
political messages.
Madonna is expected to be
accompanied by a 160-person
entourage. Bringing her to perform at
the contest is expected to cost about
$1 million, which is to be provided by
billionaire businessman Sylvan Adams.
The performance will be her fourth
in Israel. The first came in 1993, and
was followed by shows in 2009 and 2012.
She has also visited Israel on other
occasions in the context of her interest
in Kabbalah.
Planning for the contest, which
Israel is hosting thank to its victory
in last year's, has seen hiccups over
international calls for a boycott and
funding issues.
Last week, he Prime Minister’s Office
announced it would cover 1.5 million
shekels (about $410,000) of the security
costs for the contest.
The announcement came after the
song contest's executive supervisor
sent Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu a stern letter in which
he warned him that Israel's footdragging
on the matter could impede
preparations for the entire event.
In January, former Pink Floyd
frontman Roger Waters called on the
BBC to refrain from broadcasting the
contest. An open letter signed by over
50 leading U.K. artists urged the BBC
to push for the locale of this year's
song contest to be changed because
of "Israel's systematic violation of
Palestinian human rights."
Kim Kardashian sports traditional
Maang Tikka, gets called out for
cultural inappropriation
Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has
always been in news for her jaw-dropping
style statements. This time she was
spotted donning traditional Indian head
Salman Khan issued
notice by ASI for
damaging antique
figurine while
shooting for Dabangg
3 in Madhya Pradesh
Bollywood actor Salman Khan has
landed himself in trouble again. The
actor, who has been currently shooting
in the state of Madhya Pradesh for his
upcoming movie, Dabangg 3, has been
issued a notice by the Archaeological
Survey of India (ASI). The ASI has
ordered Salman and his team to remove
two set pieces of the film which were
being constructed at the historic Jal
Mahal in Mandu, Madhya Pradesh. The
notice also consists of the clause that
the film's shooting might get cancelled
if the filmmakers do not pay heed to the
above directive.
According to reports, the production
house was being informed previously
also regarding the same but no action
was being taken on their side. As per
the notice, the film crew have violated
the norms of the Ancient Monument
and Archeological Sites and Remains
Act 1959 by constructing the set there.
Moreover, the Dabangg team has also
been accused of damaging an antique
figurine at one of the forts located
nearby the banks of the river Narmada
in the town of Maheshwar. According
to the eyewitnesses, the figurine got
damaged while the set of the film was
is a private concert that features choral
arrangements of Kanye West’s music.
The couple has been hosting this service
from the beginning of 2019, every week.
The 38-year-old fashion mogul posted
a picture on her official Instagram
handle which she captioned as," Sunday
Service Vibe." She undoubtedly looked
ravishing in this look but it did not
seem to go down well with her followers.
She was accused of cultural
inappropriation on social media for
wearing a cultural item like head
jewellery. The maang tikka is a
traditional ornament worn by Indian
women for significant cultural events
especially weddings and is often
inclined towards Indian folklore.
In a breezy white off-shoulder outfit,
Kim teamed the headpiece with a
pair of gaudy gold earrings and cuffs
but her Instagram followers were not
really impressed as they called it a
mishmash of cultural pieces.
yet another hot new pic from her
recent vacation in Maldives and this
time, it is dedicated to all those who
age shamed her.
The new pic shows her giving a
cheeky wink to the camera. She
is wearing a colourful bikini and
posing on the sunny beaches of the
tourist paradise. “Being happy is
also I think happiness looks good
negativity to urself n spare me ur crap
#notinterested #toobusybeinghappy
captioned the picture.
Malaika is now back in Mumbai from
her holiday and was spotted awith her
I'd love to play James Bond, says Chris Hemsworth
LOS ANGELES: Chris Hemsworth has
said that he would "love to" play the
iconic British spy James Bond.
The "Thor" star joked his portrayal
of quintessential Englishman James
Hunt, champion of formula one in
the 2013 sports biopic "Rush" was like
an audition reel to have a crack at
essaying Agent 007.
"When we were shooting Rush
someone had said that and I thought,
'Cool, if this is my audition tape, then
great. I don't think you'll ever meet
anyone who doesn't want to have a
Kangana
Ranaut’s next
directorial
venture is not
her biopic but
an ‘action film’
Kangana Ranaut won a million
hearts and more with her last film
Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi,
which she co-directed after south
director Krish quit the project mid-way.
While there were a lot of controversies
that surrounded Manikarnika following
Krish’s exit but the film managed to do
well at the box-office and Kangana since
then has revealed that she loved every
bit of the process of filmmaking.
Soon after, Kangana had announced
that she wants to do a biopic about
herself and the actress was also quoted
saying that she’s is set to direct her
next. Consequently, people put two
and two together and assumed that her
next film will be her biopic with her
wearing the director’s hat. However,
those speculations have now been shot
down as Kangana has revealed details
crack at James Bond. I'd love to do it,"
Hemsworth told Balance magazine.
The actor, however, added a lot of
about her next directorial venture.
“I’m on the verge of announcing my
next directorial venture. It’s an action
film — an epic drama. It has taken
a lot of my time. Currently, we are
putting everything in order, but we
have locked the script. We’ll be doing a
photoshoot, soon after, which we plan
to release the poster, too,” Kangana
Ranaut told DNA in an interview.
While we have already seen a number
of action epic dramas like the Baahubali
films, the last few Sanjay Leela
Bhansali films and even Kangana’s last
– Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi,
but the Tanu Weds Manu actress said
that her upcoming directorial venture
will be different from the ones we have
already seen on the big-screen. “It’s
based on a real-life story, which I’m
fascinated by,” the actress added.
powers are at play when it comes
to playing Bond -- such as producer
Barbara Broccoli and the legion of fans.
"That's up to so many elements and
is way beyond myself; it's not one you
can pitch yourself on to either. It's
something that the community of Bond
fans, Barbara Broccoli and the whole
crew there agree on, and it has to be
a very organic decision from them.
There have been a lot of names thrown
out there and a lot of brilliant people
can tackle that one," the actor, who
hails from Australia, said.
51-year-old TV actor
Sooraj Thapar blessed
with second child
This year, Gudi Padwa turned out to be
extra sweet for actor Sooraj Thapar and
his actress-wife Dipti Dhyani. The couple
was blessed with a baby boy on the
auspicious day. Both Sooraj and Dipti are
on cloud nine. They are already proud
parents of a 5-year-old boy, Vishvm.
Talking to Bombay Times, Sooraj
revealed that they were hoping for a
girl this time. He said, “Dipti and I
were desperately hoping for a girl, but
God has blessed us with a boy again. Do
bete hain toh eventually do betiyaan
bhi aayengi shaadi ke baad. In fact,
Dipti was so keen on having a girl that
she requested the doctors to check
THE PLACE
Sushi Pizzeria Coffeteria
Did you know? according to etiquette you shouldn’t send a piece of pickled ginger in the mouth along with
sushi or rolls. Ginger has strong taste and aroma and will not allow you to fully enjoy the treat. It is meant
to “clean” the taste between two pieces of sushi. Sushi is considered to be an aphrodisiac, because the
two most common types of fish that are used, salmon and mackerel, are known for their high content of
omega-3 fatty acids, which help to produce the stimulating hormones.
Do you want to know more interesting facts? Ok. 5 curious facts about head chef and owner Dmitry: 1st
- 14 years in Goa, 2nd - raising beautiful daughter Maria, 3d- master of mouthwatering sushi, 4th -played
cello for 11 years, 5th -proud to build up wood-fired oven with his own hands. And one more important thing
about him - the famous brand Smirnoff was born in his family 120 years ago.
So The Place has indoor with AC and outdoor seating arias, fast wifi, catering, parking and even ping-pong
table. It’s cosily and homely here. What is really exciting – free cocktail for ladies from 4 to 7PM every day!
Class 10 girl rides a horse to
exam hall. She is my hero,
says Anand Mahindra
A class 10 student is going viral on the internet after a video
of her riding a horse to school was posted on Twitter. Anand
Mahindra called the girl his hero and said he wanted a picture of
the horse and the student as his screensaver.
A class 10 student from Kerala’s Thrissur
district is taking the internet by storm
with her horse riding skills and it is not
something you would ever expect.
According to a now viral tweet,
the girl was spotted on the roads of
Thrissur galloping on a horse trying
to reach her exam centre.
So obviously as soon as the video
made it to Twitter, it immediately went
viral. The video of the girl riding the
horse was first shared on Twitter by a
user called @manoj_naandi. His tweet
currently has over 8,400 likes and over
2,700 retweets.
In the viral video, one can see the
girl riding a white horse dressed in her
school uniform with her schoolbag on
her back.
The video was first shared on Twitter
with the caption, "This video clip from
my #whatsappwonderbox shows how
a girl student is going to write her
Class X final exam in Thrissur district,
Kerala. This story made my Sunday
morning brew of @arakucoffeein taste
better! After all, ARAKU coffee is about
#cupofchange #GirlPower @NanhiKali."
According to a Twitter user, the
girl's name is CA Krishna and her
horse is Ranakrish, "She is Krishna
from Trissur and along with her is
'Ranakrish' ! Her horse."
Krishna apparently studies in Class
town near Thrissur called Mala.
Her father works as a Krishna
Temple priest Ajay Kalindhi. She used
to travel 3.5 kms daily to school on
horse back.
The video, obviously, grabbed many
eyeballs including the chairman of
Mahindra group, Anand Mahindra,
who is known for his quirky tweets.
Mahindra praised the girl for her
dedications towards her studies and
called her his hero in a series of tweets.
'Brilliant! Girls’ education is
galloping ahead...A clip that deserves
to go viral globally. This, too, is
#IncredibleIndia' - tweeted Anand
Mahindra.
'Does anyone in Thrissur know this
girl? I want a picture of her and her
horse as my screen saver. She’s my
hero..The sight of her charging to
school filled me with optimism for the
future...' - he tweeted further.
After launching the insanely fast LS-218,
Lightning Motorcycles has now unveiled
an entry-level electric sportsbike,
the Strike. The electric motorcycle is
available in three variants: standard,
mid-range and Carbon edition.
Lightning claims that the standard
variant has a top speed of 217kmph and
a range of 113km in the city and 161km
on the highway. The entry-level electric
motorcycle tips the scale at 206kg.
The mid-range variant is almost
identical to the standard variant, but
the battery capacity has been increased
to 15kWh. This increment in battery
capacity translates to a longer range
(168km in the city and 240km on the
highway). However, the power remains
the same as the standard variant. Also,
the mid-range variant is 5kg heavier
than the standard variant.
The top-of-the-line Carbon edition
is where Lightning has gone all out,
though. Not only does it get 122PS of
power from the same electric motor as
the other variants, it also features some
high-end cycle parts as well. Sample
this: Ohlins suspension at both ends,
Brembo brakes, an AIM Strada racing
dash with lap timer, and GPS-based
data logging. And as the name suggests,
it gets carbon-fibre body panels as well.
The company claims that the Carbon
edition has a range of 241-322km
(city/highway) while top speed is
electronically LIMITED to 241kmph!
While the entry-level standard
variant is priced at $13,000 (around
Rs 8.98 lakh), the mid-range and the
Carbon edition are priced at $17,000
(around Rs 11.75 lakh) and $20,000
(13.83 lakh), respectively.

a desert in Sharjah. There he prayed
for three things—for peace to prevail
everywhere, for religions of all countries
to grow greater love for one another and
for countries to be free of enmity and
prejudice. Lastly, he wished a mandir
be built in Abu Dhabi. Over the years,
devotees from BAPS met community and
government leaders to seek permission
for land to build the mandir.
2. In 2015, Sheikh Mohammed bin
Zayed Al Nahyan, the crown prince of
Abu Dhabi, donated 13.5 acres of land
to the organisation.
3. After Prime Minister Narendra
Modi and the Crown Prince signed
eight MoUs, the mandir was officially
announced at the Presidential Palace
as a Golden Amrut Kalash in the
presence of the sadhus of BAPS.
4. Modi laid the foundation stone for
the temple during a visit in 2018. It’s
likely that he will also inaugurate the
temple on 20 April this year.
5. The temple is said to be a replica of
the Akshardham temple in Delhi and
another BAPS temple in New Jersey.
6. With seven spires that represent the
UAE’s seven emirates and five ornate
domes, the temple sports every feature
of a traditional Indian temple; it was
built according to the ancient Hindu
shilpashastras (Sanskrit scriptures of
architecture).
7. Every corner and crevice made of
pink stones from Rajasthan and marble
from Macedonia are supposedly handcarved
by Indian artisans. These pieces
of the temple were shipped to the UAE
and assembled there.
8. Abu Dhabi’s first Hindu temple boasts
a cultural and spiritual centre with six
to seven prayer rooms, play areas for
children, lush gardens, vegetarian food
courts, a library, gift store, exhibition
halls, a visitor’s centre and more.
