COMPANY HISTORY
Silk by Design is a family owned business and
was started in 1998 by Sue McNair, who remains
a Director today, in Durban, South Africa.
Throughout our history of trading, we have
solidified our position as the market leader in
quality and service in the silk flower, and more
broadly, home décor industry. We distribute our
artificial silk flowers, artificial trees and silk
flower arrangements locally as well as export
into Africa, Australia, the UK, and Europe.
CRAFT
We pride ourselves on our workmanship and our
attention to detail and only use high-quality silk
flowers in our silk flower arrangements. Our
team of in-house florists, lead by our Head
Florist Albertina Nzuza, are passionate about
their craft and love to see the reactions that their
beautiful flower arrangements can uncover in
our customers.
In addition, through our sales department, lead
by Debbie Chetty and Rochelle Pillay, we aim to
ensure that our customers receive quality
service that lives up to the quality of our flowers
& arrangements.
Every member of our growing team plays a vital
role in the success of the company, taking
responsibility for their work and finding value in
their contribution.

CREATIVITY
We are inspired by local and international décor
trends while still bringing our unique style to all
of our hand-crafted flower arrangements. We
achieve this by continuously striving to stay
relevant, casting our view far and wide to
appreciate the beautiful artistry of others.
Our ability to create bespoke arrangements &
floral designs for our customers sets us apart
from the competition and over the years we
have worked on a number of large corporate
landscaping installations, shop fronts, exhibitions,
and upmarket residential interiors.
CHARACTER
We second the quote by Charles Eames, “The
details are not the details. They make the design”
and we believe that true beauty lies within
diversity.

OUR PRODUCTS
Our beautiful artificial floral arrangements
are designed and constructed in house in our
Durban factory. The high-quality silk flowers
are set in robust glass vases or containers and
fixed in place by means of a water-like resin.
Varying in design and each with its own
unique style and character, our artificial
flower arrangements make the perfect bright
& bold décor accessory for your home or
office. The trendy designs are ever changing
and seasonal but firm favourites such as silk
rose arrangements, silk tulip arrangements,
silk peony arrangements, and silk protea
arrangements can almost always be found.
Our wide range of artificial trees & silk plants
vary in size and appearance, giving you multiple
options to complete your setting with a
green finish that perfectly complements your
own unique style. Some favourites from our
range include artificial ferns, artificial palm
trees, and artificial fiddle leaf trees. These artificial
trees are great for indoor use where live
plants may not be suitable.

OUR PRODUCTS
Our realistic and life-like artificial flower stem
range is of the highest quality. Sourced from
only the best international silk flower suppliers,
our range is built on a foundation of our favourite
classics including artificial roses, artificial
orchids, artificial tulips, with a wide variety of
tropical flowers including artificial proteas, and
artificial bird of paradise expanding the selection.
Our silk flower stems are beautiful standalone
or arranged together giving you endless
opportunity to create your own design.
Our artificial Vertical Gardens are sold by the m²
and can be customised to suit your space. Each
1m² garden is fitted to a metal frame and can
be easily mounted directly to a wall using the
included mounting batons. Our Vertical Gardens
require virtually no maintenance and will
make the ideal green touch to your setting.
Our growing range of artificial aloes & artificial
succulents appear realistic and fleshy. They are
striking and bold in appearance and are the
perfect subtle addition to any setting. Some
favourites include artificial agave plants, artificial
cactus, and artificial echeveria.

Our range of artificial greenery, artificial
fillers, and artificial leaves complement our
range of silk flower stems. They can be used
as a finishing touch in our artificial floral
arrangements but can also be delicately
charming when arranged on their own. Like
all of our silk flower stems, our range of silk
greenery & silk leaves are sourced from the
best artificial flower manufacturers internationally
and always appear life-like & fresh.
Our wide range of containers includes high
quality glass vases, ceramic pots, metal
ware, and fibreglass-based products. Each
with a unique style of its own, you are sure
to find the perfect container to complement
your look and feel.
Our artificial fruit range is wholesome and
full, complete with charming fruits that you,
previously, would never have imagined as
décor. Our artificial fruit is so life-like you
may even be tempted to take a bite.

CUSTOM DESIGNS
Although we do our best to show off as
many design combinations as possible on
our website, with our extensive range of
flowers, plants, trees, and containers, the
possible combinations are almost limitless.
This, coupled with the fact that we employ a
team of in house florists means that we are
always ready to put together new designs
and work on new ideas for our customers.
Like it says in our name, one of our greatest
strengths is design, so whether you are an
architect, interior designer, or decorator
needing a design and quote for a client, a
hotel looking for a bespoke floral arrangement
for your hotel lobby, or you simply
