Macedonia, of course, is a part of Greece, yet now, since I am following the nature and shape of the places geographically, I have decided to classify it apart from the rest of Greece and to join it with that part of Thrace which borders on it and extends as far as the mouth of the Euxine and the Propontis. during Plato's Sicilian journey a school was erected<br />
in opposition to his own '<strong>by</strong> strangers.' 1 All these<br />
data, however, are very doubtful, and most of the<br />
actual statements deserve no credence. 2 If the assertion<br />
of Aristoxenus were to<br />
be understood of Aristotle<br />
it could not possibly be true, for chronological<br />
reasons in the first place, 3 but also because we possess<br />
undoubted proofs that Aristotle belonged to Plato's<br />
school long after the<br />
his master in the highest honour. 4<br />
only when Xenocrates returned,<br />
three months afterwards, that he<br />
reproached Speusippus for his<br />
cowardice and forced Aristotle to<br />
restore to Plato the disputed<br />
territory.<br />
