WINTER IN ILULISSAT & KANGERLUSSUAQ ITINERARY Day 1 Day 2 Arrival in Illulissat, Greenland. City tour. Ilulissat: Sailing to the World Heritage Icefjord, Northern Lights and Greenlandic coffee. 5 DAYS TOUR SEASON JANUARY - APRIL Day 3 Day 4 Ilulissat: Hike to Sermermiut plain by the Ice Fjord. Optional helicopter tour over the Icefjord. Fly to Kangerlussuaq: Exploring dogsled and ‘kaffemik’ with local family and Greenlandic dinner. Scout for musk oxen and go dog sledding across the sparkling, silent winter backdrop, and experience the Northern Lights dancing across the starry sky. The wavering, green band of northern lights is truly an unforgettable sight. The weather during Winter time is often stable and clear, and at this time of year, just before the Spring Equinox, the Northern Lights shine brightest. We are in the perfect setting for experiencing this enigmatic phenomenon. We visit the famed Ilulissat Icefjord with its majestic icebergs and learn about sled dogs. During this winter adventure, we will be sampling local specialities such as smoked musk ox, ‘mattak’ (whale skin with a strip of blubber) and reindeer. Day 5 Departure.
