3 Coir is often used to replace peat moss to amend and aerate soil. It can be used as a planting medium on its own, or blended with other products to make custom mixes. Coir is Hydrophilic – It loves water - and due to it’s tubular, cellular structure, it is unsurpassed at absorbing and retaining moisture. Yet at saturation, water runs right through, virtually eliminating root rot and mold, the primary reasons for plant failure. By Nature, coir is pH neutral and sterile. It is 100% organic and completely renewable, biodegradable and compostable. It is an excellent choice for sustainability. Parts of Coconut Husk/Coir Inner Shell Husk is the tough fiber and is made up of coir. The second part after the husk is brown hard shell. White Flesh Water/Milk Coconut flesh is the edible part of the nut. Coconut water is high in vitamins and proteins.
