The 2nd and PCH Development just a few miles
from Sunset Beach is quite a project that has been
in the works for years now getting through planning
and development approvals and has finally broken
ground. The project is at the site of the once well
traveled Edgewater Inn Marina Hotel built in 1963
and most recently the Seaport Marina Hotel where
believe it or not I held the So Cal Italian Festival in
2003. Prior to the Seaport Hotel the Edgewater Inn
Marina Hotel and later the Edgewater Hyatt House
was thought to be the most elegant and perhaps
swankiest hostelry in town, with four restaurants
and two cocktail lounges with big bands playing at
dances in the large ballroom.
The Edgewater hosted many notable events when
the property was in its prime. The Edgwater was
host to the both the Kansas City Chiefs and Green
Bay Packers for Super Bowl I in 1967 at the Los
Angeles Coliseum as well as the place Elvis himself
resided while performing at the Long Beach Arena
in 1972 according to LongBeachHize.com. According
to the Long Beach Telegram the Pac-8 teams
stayed at the hotel during the week before the Rose
Bowl and practiced at nearby Blair Field while the
enemy, the visiting Big-10 teams, stayed at the Huntington-Sheraton
in Pasadena. When you drive by
the development the colorful banners on the fence
of the property state that 2nd and PCH will be
open Summer of 2019. Should be awesome.

Obey all posted warnings at
the beach. The single best
thing you can do to avoid ever
seeing a shark is to simply pay
attention to any and all safety
information at the beach. Heed
any posted signs and listen to
the instructions of authority
figures like lifeguards, beach
patrol personnel, and park
rangers. Be Safe !
