What is often reffered to as a banana ‘tree’ is really a
nonwoody plant. Various parts of the plant find different
uses; for example the leaves function as an environmentally
friendly equivalent of paper.
Combine the inventiveness and creativity of mankind
with one of the countless wonders of nature, and a brand
new, beautiful product comes to life.
The Fadia basket, created from the leftovers – leaves – of
the banana tree is handmade in India, combined with a
golden metal handle to form an exciting contrast. It stores
your magazines, plaids, toys, firewood or displays your
plants – available in different sizes.

As long as there is grass to graze on, every year sheep
will produce a new fleece; making wool a renewable fibre
source.
At the end of its useful life, wool can be returned to the
soil, where it decomposes, releasing valuable nutrients into
the ground. When a natural wool fibre is disposed of in
soil, it takes a very short time to break down, whereas most
synthetics are extremely slow to degrade.

Hailing from plantations in South Asia and South America,
mango tree wood has become a great, alternative hardwood
for Urban Nature Culture. Mango wood has a unique
grain made up of different colour properties and tones.
Urban Nature Culture’s Salad Servers, made from this
sustainable material we’ve come to love so much,
are inspired by Chinese hand fans from Malaysia.
Malaysia’s George Town is known for its Chinese influences,
with more than half of its population of Chinese origin.

S T O N E W A R E
Stoneware is a rather broad term for pottery or other
ceramics fired at a relatively high temperature. It is
nonporous, does not soak up liquids and it may or
may not be glazed. Historically, across the world, it has
been developed after earthenware and before porcelain,
and has often been used for high-quality as well as
utilitarian wares.
Urban Nature Culture created this stoneware vase with
a mind of its own, in an eye-catching glaze.
Have it display your fresh-cut flowers, a bunch of natural
feathers or dried hogweed.

The word “ceramic” comes from the Greek word
κεραμικός (keramikos).
The earliest ceramics made by humans were pottery
objects or figurines made from clay, either by itself or
mixed with other materials hardened and sintered in fire.
Later ceramics were glazed and fired to create smooth,
colored surfaces.
Urban Nature Culture’s ceramic Inkpot vase once was an
inkpot, used to write with, has been transformed into a
flower vase, as a symbol of peace. A ceramic vase that brings
along an important message.
