Former member of the tourism trade body and renowned hotelier Ralph D’Souza however does not link the probable decrease in arrivals to the election code. He cited other factors like wrong promotions and wrong market to the downfall of tourism industry in the State. “We have seen so many elections. It hasn’t in the past and even now will impact tourism. The drop in tourism is in fact due to tapping of wrong market and promotion going the wrong way. New Delhi: The Directorate General of
Civil Aviation (DGCA) late on Tuesday
night grounded all Boeing 737 Max
planes in India, in line with similar
pre-emptive moves across the world
following Sunday's Ethiopia plane crash.
The aviation regualtor has decided
to ground the Boeing planes until
LS 2019: EVMs to
carry candidate
pics to avoid
confusion over
similar names
The Election Commission on Sunday
said the EVMs and postal ballot
papers would carry photograph of all
candidates to help voters identify the
political leaders in the fray.
Announcing the seven-phase Lok
Sabha elections, beginning April 11 and
ending May 19, the Election Commission
said the provision for printing the
candidate photographs will help avoid
any confusion which may arise when
candidates with similar names contest
from the same constituency.
The photograph will be printed on
the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM)
ballot units as well as on postal ballot
papers, the EC said.
For this purpose, the candidates are
required to submit to the returning
officer, their recent stamp size
photograph as per the specifications
laid down by the Commission.
The EC also said India had gone to
polls with photo electoral rolls for the
first time in 2009. In that year, Assam,
Jammu & Kashmir and Nagaland did not
have photo electoral rolls, while elector
photo identity cards were not distributed
to electors in Assam and Nagaland.
Now, all states and union territories
have photo electoral rolls and
photographs of 99.72 per cent electors
are already printed in the electoral
rolls. Besides, 99.36 per cent electors
have been given EPIC.
measures are undertaken to ensure
their safe operations.
SpiceJet Ltd and Jet Airways (India) Ltd
operate Boeing 737 Max planes in India.
"SpiceJet has suspended Boeing 737 Max
operations following DGCA's decision
to ground the aircraft," said a SpiceJet
spokesperson. "Safety and security of our
passengers, crew and operations are of
utmost importance to us... We will be working
with the regulator and the manufacturer
to attain normalcy in our operations."
“As always, passenger safety remains
our top priority. We continue to consult
closely with regulators around the world,
airlines and aircraft manufacturers
to ensure passenger safety," the civil
aviation ministry tweeted.
The government had earlier in the
day said it was reviewing the situation
surrounding the Boeing 737s closely and
that it would take appropriate decision
in light of feedback from the agency
investigating the Ethiopian Airlines crash,
US Federal Aviation Administration and
the aircraft manufacturer.
During the course of the day, several
countries—from those in the European
Union to Australia—banned the Boeing
737 Max planes as a pre-emtive measure.
Europe’s air safety watchdog, EU Aviation
Safety Agency, issued a continent-wide
grounding of the aircraft after similar
decision by countries like Singapore,
China, Australia and Malaysia. Several
airlines too decided to ground the aircraft.
The Ethiopia plane crash was the second
involving a Boeing 737 Max plane in five
months.
Which is worse, crackers or cars?
Supreme Court asks Centre for comparative study
The top court, however, expressed concern over unemployment caused after it put
curbs on fire crackers. “Legal trade cannot be stopped.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked
the Centre to give a comparative study
on pollution caused by firecrackers and
automobiles and observed that people
are running after firecrackers and
seeking ban on it when it seems that
automobile is the bigger polluter.
The top court, however, expressed
concern over unemployment caused
after it put curbs on fire crackers.
“Legal trade cannot be stopped. At best
license conditions need to be changed,”
a bench led by just SA Bobde said while
hearing petition on ban on fire crackers
Court asked the Centre to suggest
some way of preventing unemployment
in the sector. “We can’t let people go
hungry because some others think fire
crackers is not good. Moreover, there
are areas where crackers could be used
without causing much damage, such as
community fireworks,” the court said
Tamil Nadu has said that top court’s
order banning use of fire crackers had
resulted in people losing their jobs.
Court will hear the matter again on
April 3.

166 countries
To promote tourism, India has now
extended the e-visa facility to 166
countries.
Till now, tourists from only 46
countries could apply for India e-visa.
The existing restriction of allowing
foreigner for a maximum of three times
has also been removed. E-visa is now
valid for two more airports namely
Bhubaneswar and Port Blair raising
the total number of such airports to 28.
Foreign nationals who fall sick during
their stay in India can now avail medical
treatment without converting their visa
into Medical Visa. This would take care
of sudden medical emergencies.
Visa-on-Arrival facility extended to
in Pakistan where he's being presented
as a friend. A photo of a Pakistani tea
stall with Wing Commander Abhinandan
Varthaman's image on its banner has gone
viral. What's interesting is that on the
banner, Abhinandan can be seen sipping
tea in a bold and confident manner with
an Urdu text at the bottom that says, "Aisi
which translated, means: Tea so fine that it
Abu Dhabi cuts fees
to boost tourism,
The Department of Culture & Tourism
(DCT) said on Tuesday it has reduced
tourism fees from 6 to 3.5 percent,
municipal fees from 4 to 2 percent and
municipality hotel room fees per night
from 15 dirhams ($4) to 10 dirhams.
in industry, infrastructure and tourism
to diversify its economy away from oil.
park and other attractions.
and the Zayed National Museum, are
Wing Commander Abhinandan
returned to India after spending at least
60 hours in Pakistan's captivity after his
Mig-21 Bison crash-landed across the
Line of Control (LoC). Abhinandan was
chasing an F-16 of Pakistan after it tried
to intrude the Indian airspace in the early
hours of February 27. During the chase,
Abhinandan shot down the Pakistan Air
Force's F-16 but had to himself eject from
his plane that had taken a hit.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi opened in November 2017
Neighboring Dubai welcomed a
record 15.9 million tourists last year
compared with Abu Dhabi’s 10 million
hotel guests in 2018.
The move to reduce the fees came
on the back of a study on Abu Dhabi’s
hotels conducted by the DCT.
“The tourism sector is a key alternative
to oil,” said Saif Saeed Ghobash, undersecretary
of DCT. “It is necessary to
support this sector as it experiences
difficulties to allow it to contribute to the
achievement of future goals.”
The financial impact of the reduction
in fees would be 1 billion dirhams over
the next three years, he said.
Tourism takes a hit in
Jammu & Kashmir
As expected, tourism in the state of
Jammu & Kashmir took a hit owing to
the continuing tension between India
and Pakistan. A number of countries,
including the UK, USA and Australia
have issued travel advisories for their
citizens, advising against any travel plans
to the state in the near future. Citizens
of the said countries have been asked to
exercise “high degree of caution” while
making any travel plans to the state.
Thankfully, parts of Ladakh, including
Nubra Valley have been excluded from
most of the advisories and might be able
to still attract tourists.
Reportedly, unrest at the Indo-Pakistan
border has led to an increased cancellation
in the number of travel bookings for the
upcoming tourist season. The brewing
tension led to the closure of airspace in many
parts of Northern India as well as Pakistan
and also affected travellers intending to
visit Punjab and parts of Rajasthan.
Pranab Sarkar, President of the Indian
Association of Tour Operators, said “Many
countries have updated travel advisories
for India, and overseas travellers
are worried as a lot of last-minute
cancellations are happening. The Pakistani
airspace closure has also been a cause for
concern. Tourists had to face late arrivals
as they missed their accommodation and
sight-seeing bookings in the last two days.
Those who haven’t started on their travel
are calling off their trip.”
Locals are hoping for rapid deescalation
of the unrest between the two
countries, and awareness initiatives by
the government to attract tourists.

The next big thing in transportation
is the possibility of autonomous flying
seeing flying cars as early as in the
next five years.
In an exclusive interview with Cnet,
Nanduri talked about the future of
technology with flying cars as the most
definite innovation. While the flying
cars won’t be available at scale, but
Nanduri believes, it surely will start
Chipset-making giant Qualcomm has
listed chipsets such as Snapdragon 855,
cameras with up to a whopping 192MP.
Developers, especially those working on
projects like ports of the Google Camera
directly interested in detailed ISP specs
and this is a welcome change, GSMArena
The tweaked specification sheets
Even as there are a number of benefits
of moving some of the on-road traffic to
Nanduri said that the benefits of
autonomous driving technology and
Seeing AI is a subscription-free app
that narrates your surroundings. It
uses machine learning technology, to
be more specific it focuses on object and
Seeing AI lead engineer, Saqib Shaikh,
wrote in his blog post, “This new feature
enables users to tap their finger to an image
In addition to the newly added feature,
the app now provides support for
be about myriad interpretations of the
evergreen six-yard wonder.
The sari, its multiplicity and its
personality will be celebrated by
designers Akaaro, Amit Aggarwal,
Anamika Khanna, Anavila, Anita
Rodricks among many others.
The event will also give a voice to the
weavers, according to Fashion Design
Council of India (FDCI) President Sunil
Sethi, who said they have an exciting
line-up of shows planned, with a good
balance of old and new talent.
"Every sari weaver has a story to be
told and through LMIFW Autumn/
Winter 2019, we are giving a voice to
those weavers who have consistently
helped in maintaining our Indian
culture alive," Sethi told IANS.
most importantly its women.
Even though all five artists were in
residence at different times, the flow of
ideas and artistic inspiration gathers
a collective momentum as it connects
thematically. It culminates in Women’s
Work, a show that cuts across space,
time and cultural barriers to challenge
stereotypes about work and honours
the accomplishments of stellar women
everywhere.
The exhibition reclaims the dismissive
phrase “It’s just women’s work” and
redefining it triumphantly to cover the
process and subject of artworks done
by Russian & Georgian artists Tatyana
Antoshina (Tania), Keti Melkadze, Nina
Bajelidze, Mihail Pyatnickiy and French
artist Elodie Alexandre.
Keti’s hard laborious shaping and
bending of wire mesh sculptures
of powerful female figures; Nina’s
Impressionist paintings featuring soft
yet strong women; multimedia artist
Tania’s and ceramist and illustrator
Elodie’s celebration of iconic women
– ranging from Rani of Jhansi to Sarla
Thakral, the first Indian woman to fly
an aircraft. Mihail Pyatnickiy, the only
male artist in the show pays tribute to
a mother and her child, again a domain
seen as primarily Women’s Work.
These artists translate a different
cultural context and experience
through the alternative materials to
create their work, they expand rigid
notions of fine art and incorporate a
wider variety of artistic perspectives.
YouTube Music
enters India for
Rs 99 per Month,
to rival Spotify
Google has a unique position with
YouTube Music, since YouTube itself is
home to countless music-related videos.
Indian users can now join in on the fun,
with both YouTube Music and Premium
officially launching in the country.
Both the ad-supported and ad-free
versions of Music are available, and
Play Music subscribers automatically
get a subscription for the latter
included. Another highlight, of course,
is the arrival of YouTube Premium,
which offers an ad-free viewing
experience — among other things like
background and offline playback.
If you just want ad-free YouTube
Music, it'll cost you ₹99 per month;
YouTube Premium (which includes
YouTube Music Premium) goes for
₹129 per month. And if you purchased a
Galaxy S10, you get four months of full
Lady Gaga shuts
down pregnancy
rumors & teases
new music
Yes, Lady Gaga is expecting, but it’s not
what you think!
The 32-year-old singer took to social
media on Tuesday to shut down
pregnancy rumors and share what she’s
actually preparing to birth -- new music!
In a tweet that sent waves of delight
through her fandom of Little Monsters,
the GRAMMY and Oscar winner
indicated that she’s working on her
sixth studio album.
“Rumors I’m pregnant?” she wrote.
“Yeah, I’m pregnant with #LG6.”
The post was quickly met with various
excited replies, such as photos of kids
freaking out and gifs of people fainting.
“Well give birth nowwww,” wrote one
fan. “I’m ready mom #LG6,” responded
another.
The post followed a tabloid report earlier
this month that insinuated that Gaga
could be pregnant with A Star Is Born
co-star and director, Bradley Cooper.
Dua Lipa
on female artists
breaking through
in music: “As
women, we have
to work harder
to be heard”
Dua Lipa has spoken out on the
difficulties she faced breaking through in
the music industry as a new female artist.
The ‘New Rules’ pop star, who
recently bagged the Best British Single
BRIT Award for ‘One Kiss‘, was in
discussion at ILMC’s Futures Forum
event on International Women’s Day
last week (March 8).
During the chat, the singer touched
on the earlier days of her career while
addressing struggles young female
acts can be met with compared to male
musicians.
“As women, we have to work harder to
be heard and appreciated,” she said (via
iq). “It’s just one of those things – when
you’re a female artist, unless you’re
playing a piano or a guitar people think
you’re manufactured, and you have to
take some time to show people your
stories and what you’ve gone through.
“Sometimes it just takes a little bit
more explanation and a little more
time, but it’s something I’m willing and
ready to do to be heard.”
Explaining that she tries “to use my
platform to speak out” on these issues,
Lipa added: “I’ve always been quite
outspoken and never been afraid to
say things that are true to me. I feel a
duty to be a voice for my fans, because
they’ve given that [platform] to me.”
Elsewhere, the singer also recalled
struggling to fill a venue at one of her
early gigs. “There was no one there,” she
said. “My manager had to ask [a group of
people] if he bought them a drink, would
they come and see his show?
“It wasn’t so bad, because I wasn’t
expecting anyone to be there anyway – and
it definitely managed my expectations.”
Meanwhile, Dua Lipa’s Madame
Tussauds waxwork has recently been
unveiled at the London attraction.
Captioning a series of images of herself
standing beside the new piece, Lipa
described the moment as “totally surreal”.
Delhi Crime trailer out. Netflix series
on Nirbhaya rape case will send shivers
down your spine
Netflix unveiled the trailer
of the seven-part series Delhi
Crime, which is based on
Nirbhaya rape case. It will start
streaming from March 22.
Netflix has unveiled the trailer of its
seven-part anthology series Delhi Crime
directed by Indo-Canadian filmmaker
Richie Mehta. The series stars Shefali
Shah, Rasika Dugal, Rajesh Tailang,
Adil Hussain, Gopal Datt, and Vinod
Sherawat in important roles.
It revolves around the investigation
of the heinous crime that enraged
the entire country in 2012. Nirbhaya
and her friend were attacked by six
men inside a bus and the former
was brutally tortured, beaten and
gang-raped. The rape case shook the
country's psyche and led to never-seenbefore
nation-wide protests.
The Netflix series is based on the case
files of the Delhi Police and the story
follows the unfailing determination of
Varthika Chaturvedi (Shefali Shah),
the investigating officer, to find the
perpetrators of the crime.
The trailer begins with Varthika
Chaturvedi receiving the call about the
heinous crime. Shaken by the brutality
Jennifer Lopez says yes
to longtime boyfriend
A-Rod. The engagement
ring is blinding
Now that we are almost done with the
glamorous wedding of Akash Ambani
and Shloka Mehta, there is another
extravagant wedding around the corner
that we should start gearing up for.
Superstar Jennifer Lopez and
boyfriend Alex Rodriguez are engaged.
After dating for two years the former
New York Yankees slugger proposed to
the singer with a ginormous ring and
she said yes.
Lopez and A-Rod made their
engagement official on the photo
sharing app, Instagram on Saturday
night. A-Rod posted a picture of
Jennifer's hand with the ring on it and
captioned the image, "She said yes."
Jennifer too shared the image with
various hearts as the caption.
The huge stone on the sultry actress's
finger is said to be an emerald cut of
almost 15 carats of platinum solitaire
and might be costing somewhere
around USD 1 million.
The couple, since they started dating
have been sharing cute snippets of their
holidays and their public display of
affections with their fans and we love
those shares.
of it, Varthika resolves to leave no
stone unturned to nab the culprits. The
clip brings back the horrific memories
of the crime that happened on a cold
December night in Munirka. In the
trailer, as Nirbhaya is being carried to
a hospital, she requests the cops to not
tell her father about the incident.
More such poignant moments are
in store for the viewers as the series
will explore the emotions, politics and
outrage surrounding the case from the
eye of an investigation officer.
The series premiered at the Sundance
film festival 2019 and has received rave
reviews from critics across the world.
Delhi Crime will begin streaming from
March 22, 2019 on Netflix.
Arrest Oviya for
adult film 90ML,
demands political
outfit in complaint
against the
Bigg Boss star
90 ML is making headlines every day
since its release. Yesterday, popular
producer Dhananjayan and the film's
director Anita Udeep had a war of
words on Twitter over the film. While
the producer slammed the film, the
director called out Dhananjayan's
double standards.
Now, the states women wing of a
political outfit called Indian National
League Party has filed a complaint
against the film and Oviya for
allegedly spoiling the youngsters
and culture of our society. They filed
the complaints with the Chennai
Commissioner office.
The chief of INLP women's wing has
Angelina Jolie on her
divorce with Brad Pitt says,
'Jealously & his addiction to
alcohol became the problem'
In a recent interview with Entertainment Today,
Angelina Jolie opened up about the real reason behind
her separation with Brad Pitt.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were one
of the ‘IT’ couples in Hollywood. The
ex-couple always gave us major couple
goals back then. For the uninitiated,
Angelina and Brad first met on the sets
of Mr. & Mrs. Smith and fell in love with
each other. After years of dating, the
couple got married on 23rd August 2014
at Chateau Miraval in France. However,
after two years of marriage, the couple
parted ways in 2016 and broke millions
of hearts all around the world.
Since then, the couple has been
tight-lipped about their relationship.
However, in a recent interview with
Entertainment Today, Angelina Jolie
opened up about the reason behind
her separation with Brad. Talking
'rape culture'. She called the film a
disgrace to Tamil cinema.
90 ML is an adult comedy about
five young women, who bond over
cigarettes, drinks, and gossips. The film
explores the desires of young modern
women and it seems to have offended
the moralists.
However, the film is still running
successfully at the box office as
youngsters seem to have taken a liking
to the film.
Masoom Shankar, Anson Paul,
Monisha Ram, Shree Gopika, Bommu
Lakshmi and Tej Raj are also part of
90 ML. Actor Simbu has composed the
music for the adult comedy.
about the reason behind the split-up,
Angelina said, “No relationship is ever
just black-and-white, and while Brad
and I have such different points of view
regarding numerous matters, what lead
to our divorce primarily were different
ideas of how to bring our children up.”
She went on to reveal that Brad’s
jealousy and his addiction to alcohol
played a major role in the couple’s
separation. The Salt actress added,
“His addiction to alcohol was the
reason why he lost many opportunities
in Hollywood. He was even jealous
because I wouldn’t let him promote my
business. Nonetheless, he’s the father
of my children and I don’t want to talk
about it too much.”
The hottest restaurant
openings in Goa this season
Go beyond the favourites and experiment with the new
It’s true, Goa is morphing into a new,
exciting culinary destination, with
foods from Japan, Israel and more.
But, in this large market, how do you
determine the good from the great?
Here’s a list of Goa’s newest culinary
offerings for an unique experience.
Rumi Goa
A play on the word ‘roomie,’ the culinary
pop-up was started off by two roommates
who discovered a shared love for the Sufi
saint’s poetry. The “anti-restaurant” is the
millennial’s idea of gastronomy: cheap and
good food over fancy packaging. The plot
unravels on the backyard of a standalone
house in Taleigao owned by the neighbour
of Ryan D’costa, one of the co-owners,
while his partner Nassim Akhtar cooks
his mother’s recipes in a micro menu
of thalis serving dishes borrowed from
Varanasi, Bihari and Himalayan cuisine.
There’s a roster of bards, poets and indie
bands performing on Saturday evenings
and while the food experience isn’t flashy,
Goans tip this as one of the cool places to
hang out at this summer. 17/185, Near St.
Michael’s Church, Taleigao Rd, Panaji
Old Bombay
Despite the cosmopolitan culinary scene,
there are some things Goa can never get
right—a cutting chai, spicy vada pavs,
and all the spicy street food. If you’re up
to your gills after bingeing on Portuguese
and Saraswat Brahmin cuisine, run to Old
Bombay which serves Sindhi, Punjabi,
Parsi and Mumbai cuisine. Overlooking
the Baga creek, the three-storey property
is neatly divided into a bistro at ground
level, a casual diner in the middle and
a compact bar on the roof which look
like a movie set from an old Bollywood
flick! The bougainvillea wall murals,
garlands dangling from the ceilings and
the boho chic decor will appeal to the
world travellers longing for a taste of the
Hello China!
Even the land of sorpotel and vindaloo
hasn’t been completely immune to the
The Grilled Lobster at Mahé
invasion of Indo-Chinese street food carts
that we’re all huge fans of when comfort
cravings attack. But it is interesting to
note that India’s beach capital still doesn’t
have an authentic Chinese fine-dine that
would appeal to purists. That changed at
the start of this month, when Hello China,
a Cantonese restaurant opened on Goa’s
erstwhile premier party stretch, smack in
the middle of Tito’s and Britto’s.
Helmed by chefs Dominic Ho and
Lawrence Lao—who have been associated
with Mumbai’s Ling’s Pavilion, China
Garden, Royal China and Koko,
respectively—the oriental eatery serves
delicate glass dumplings, a mean roasted
duck and a selection of classic hot pots.
The vegetarian selection won’t leave you
underwhelmed here: there’s crispy baby
spinach in sesame sauce, the tofu choices
melt in your mouth and the Bok Choy and
Shiitake Mushroom dumplings look like
they were carved from jade! Nothing like
true blue Chinese food to nurse a bad case
of the munchies after getting hammered in
Olive Ridley
lays 122 eggs in
Calangute
PANAJI: A late visitor on a busy stretch
of Calangute beach caused a stir on
Sunday, as the flippered species had not
been spotted here for a number of years.
The Olive Ridley turtle halted for about
30 minutes and left behind exactly 122
eggs. The turtle surfaced near a beach
shack, run by Cutino Matthews, who
immediately informed the police.
"Sporadic nesting events like this serve
as reminders of the various stressors
the beaches of Goa are now undergoing.
Massive changes due to a number of
anthropogenic activities, such as beach
beds close to the water, light and plastic
pollution, play a vital role in disrupting
natural biotic processes," Puja Mitra,
founder-director, Terra Conscious says.
A few days ago, another turtle chose a
quiet spot of Morjim beach to nest just
before sunset.
Timely and compassionate action in
informing authorities is important. "It
can definitely support better conservation
action on the ground," Mitra says.
After the shack owner's tip off, the
forest department, Drishti Marine, IUCN
India and Terra Conscious provided
timely response to help the nesting
process.
THE PLACE
Sushi Pizzeria Coffeteria
Did you know? according to etiquette you shouldn’t send a piece of pickled ginger in the mouth along with
sushi or rolls. Ginger has strong taste and aroma and will not allow you to fully enjoy the treat. It is meant
to “clean” the taste between two pieces of sushi. Sushi is considered to be an aphrodisiac, because the
two most common types of fish that are used, salmon and mackerel, are known for their high content of
omega-3 fatty acids, which help to produce the stimulating hormones.
Do you want to know more interesting facts? Ok. 5 curious facts about head chef and owner Dmitry: 1st
- 14 years in Goa, 2nd - raising beautiful daughter Maria, 3d- master of mouthwatering sushi, 4th -played
cello for 11 years, 5th -proud to build up wood-fired oven with his own hands. And one more important thing
about him - the famous brand Smirnoff was born in his family 120 years ago.
Millionaire dad would pay Rs 2 crore to any
man who will marry his virgin daughter
A millionaire dad, from Chumphon province in southern Thailand, recently made headlines because
he wanted to sell his virgin daughter for USD 314,166, which is Rs 2,19,65,701 approximately.
In your today’s dose of bizarre news, an
Asian dad is making headlines for the
most absurd reason and it is the most
mind-boggling thing you will read today.
A millionaire dad, from Chumphon
province in southern Thailand,
apparently wants to give away
USD 314,166, which is Rs 2,19,65,701
approximately, to anyone who marries
his virgin daughter.
According to Mirror, Arnon Rodthong
was so frustrated with his daughter
Karnsita, 26, not getting married that he
decided to arrange her wedding like this.
Karnista, who reportedly is a
university graduate and speaks
Chinese and English fluently according
to her father, was not getting married,
so her father came up with the plan.
According to him, the man needs to
have only three qualities to marry his
daughter, which are, "He doesn't have to
be that smart - just able to read and write.
Please don’t bring your degrees to cluster
the house. Hard working and not lazy.
Stingy about money and loves durian.
Arnon, is a durian farmer, with the
largest business in his locality, so he
wanted someone who could handle his
business, Mirror reported.
"I want someone to take care of my
business and make it last. I don't want a
person with a bachelor's, or master's or
philosopher's degree. I want a diligent man.
That's all. As soon as I have an in-law, I
will give up all my assets to him," he said.
In fact, after Karnsita found out about
the news she was surprised by it. "I was
surprised but I can see the funny side
to it, too. It is true that I am still single.
If I have to get married with someone, I
only want him to be a diligent and good
person who loves his family," she said.
Over 3 lakh items
Udaipur, Mar 11 (PTI) A campaign by a
member of the erstwhile royal family of
Udaipur has received over 3 lakh items
of clothing, creating a Guinness world
record for the largest collection of clothes
for donation, a press release claimed.
Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, a descendant
of Rajput ruler Maharana Pratap,
received the certificate from an official
of the Guinness Book of World Records-
Mi 9 Transparent
Edition 8GB RAM,
256GB Storage Variant
Confirmed, Expected
in Late March
The Xiaomi Mi 9 had an interesting
set of variants at launch - not just with
the RAM and storage combinations
but also the versions of the phone.
The top-end variant that's dubbed the
Mi 9 Transparent Edition had all the
powerful specs of the other variants plus
12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. That
seems great, but since launch, there
has been a reported demand from fans
for a 8GB RAM, 256GB storage variant
of the smartphone. Now it seems that
Xiaomi has been paying attention and
the company will reportedly launch an
8GB RAM, 128GB storage variant of the
Transparent Edition later this month.
So the final specs of the Mi 9
Transparent Edition include Android 9.0
Pie with MIUI 10 on top, powered by an
octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC,
coupled with Adreno 640 GPU and 8GB or
12GB LPDDR4X RAM options. Internal
storage stays constant across variants
at 256GB. Xiaomi product director Wang
Teng Thomas is said to have confirmed
the upcoming 8GB RAM/ 256GB storage
version in a reply on Weibo.
Another change in the Mi 9
Transparent Edition is that the
primary rear camera is a 48-megapixel
sensor with an f/1.47 aperture 7P
lens, as compared to the f/2.2 lens on
the standard edition of the Mi 9. The
other lenses of the triple-camera setup
remain the same, namely a 16-megapixel
secondary sensor with a combination
of ultra-wide and macro lens having an
f/2.2 lens and a field-of-view (FoV) of 117
degrees. Finally a 12-megapixel tertiary
sensor along with an f/2.2 telephoto lens.
The 8GB RAM variant of the Xiaomi
Mi 9 Transparent Edition is speculated
to release in China sometime in late
March for CNY 3,599 (around Rs. 37,490).
collected and distributed to the needy,
the release said.
The campaign reached out to over
120 schools, 15 colleges and around 30
NGOs, it said.
"I started the campaign as an
innovative exercise in giving. I could
have asked some organisations to fund
the same, but I wanted the citizens,
young boys and girls of the city to show
what a large heart they have," Mewar
said in the release. PTI SDA AD

Why men’s day
was trending on
women’s day
International Women’s Day (IWD) has
been celebrated globally every year on
March 8 since 1910 and is intended as a
chance to champion gender equality
and women’s rights, galvanising
the movement for gender equality.
Unsurprisingly, internet trolls and
men’s rights activists seek to undermine
this day by taking to social media to
respond to IWD tweets by asking: “When
is International Men’s Day?”
This question dominates Twitter every
year on March 8. According to Google
Trends, International Men’s Day was the
number one trending topic in the UK this
morning, with thousands of searches for
the term. It’s a popular topic on Twitter
too, with many users arguing that IWD is
fundamentally sexist because they think
there is no equivalent for men.
Luckily one man is actually doing
more than his fair share to tackle the
question, and his efforts also help a
very good cause.
Comedian Richard Herring spend
International Women’s Day answering
this eternal question. He tweeted: “I
can sort that one for you. It’s November
19th. Anything else you’re wondering
about while I am here? I confess I don’t
know everything but I have access to
the internet. I am assuming like Lord
Sugar you can only tweet.” In fact the
day has been around since 1999.
Herring runs a GoFundMe campaign
calling on people to donate to domestic
violence charity Refuge on IWD. Last
year, he raised £150,000 for the charity
and this year he is again asking his
225,000 followers on Twitter to support
this act of “polite trolling” and raise
more money for charity.
International Men’s Day raises awareness
for issues like toxic masculinity, men’s
mental health problems and male suicide.
Here’s how PUBG Mobile will be
celebrating its first birthday
NEW DELHI: PUBG Mobile will turn
of the game, the lobby background
displays a logo on a building saying “1st
Anniversary” with the PUBG helmet
in between the two words. While the
overall layout has not been changed
much, the colours sure have been
changed to neon ones for a party-themed
“Thanks to the Modi government and
Prasar Bharati for bringing Goa DD
