un kilomètre de la ville
d’Andapa se trouve un site
inauguré par le ministère
du Tourisme en 2012 :
Beradaka. Un nom qui
signifie à la fois
« abondance de grenouille » et
« grenouille de grande taille ». Dans
tous les cas, c’est un site idéal pour
observer les grenouilles nocturnes.
En période des pluies, le chant des
grenouilles anime les forêts du nord.
Le joyeux tintamarre s’explique tout
simplement par leur reproduction
en saison chaude et pluvieuse. La
majorité des grenouilles présentes à
Madagascar est endémique.
Ce site est facile d’accès car situé
à seulement 200m de la route. Sa
visite est une occasion de découvrir
des dizaines de bassins et d’observer
des poissons endémiques d’Andapa
et des espèces introduites. Autour de
ces bassins, il est possible de pêcher,
puis de pique niquer en mangeant les
poissons grillés et capturés sur-place.
Beradaka est connue aussi par la rivière
Antangena qui irrigue la ville d’Andapa.
Une source d’eau limpide aux chutes et
bassins de baignade situées non loin
de la ville, dans un milieu sauvage et
calme.
En visitant ce village, attardezvous
sur le champ de 6ha environ
planté d’arbres fruitiers, ou sur la
piscine naturelle et le point de vue
panoramique. Les visiteurs se voient
offrir par le gérant des fruits de saison
: ananas, bananes, jacquier, litchis,
mangue, goyave et canne à sucre.

spell, the croaking

One kilometre from
the town of Andapa is
Beradaka, a site that
was inaugurated by the
Ministry of Tourism in
2012. The name means both ‘abundance
of frogs’ and ‘large-sized frogs’. In
any case, an ideal site for observing
nocturnal frogs.
During a rainy spell, the croaking of
the frogs fills the air of the northern
forests, their joyous cries quite simply
due to the period of reproduction,
during the hot and wet season. Most of
the frogs to be found in Madagascar are
endemic to the island.
Access to the site is fairly easy, as it is
situated just 200m from the road. A visit
is an opportunity to discover dozens of
pools and observe the endemic fish of
Andapa, as well as introduced species.
Around these pools, it is possible to fish,
then picnic, eating the fish you have
caught and grilled on the spot. Beradaka
is also well known for the Antangena
River and its crystal clear waters, which
irrigate the town of Andapa. Not far
from the town, there are also waterfalls
and pools where you can bathe, in calm
natural surroundings.
When you visit the village, take a
pause to admire the six hectares or so
of orchards or the natural swimming
pool and the sweeping viewpoint. The
manager of the orchard will hand out
seasonal fruits to visitors: pineapples,
bananas, Jack fruits, lychees, mangoes,
guavas and sugar-cane.
