The LINOS Profile 

and Rail Systems 

LINOS flat rail systems can be used as a low- 

profile micro-optical bench and beam stee- 

ring system. The bearing surfaces on the 

low-warpage aluminum alloy are precision- 

milled and treated with abrasion-resistant 

black anodizing, making these rail systems 

an ideal basis for linear and areal structures. 

We offer three sizes, all compatible with the 

LINOS construction systems, to cover every 

application: The Flat Rail System FLS 25 is 

compatible with the LINOS Nanobench, the 

FLS 40 with the LINOS Microbench and the 

FLS 95 with the LINOS mounts, posts and hol- 

ders. 

In addition to these flat rails, LINOS manuf- 

actures the X25 and X95 profile systems es- 

pecially for three-dimensional structures. 

All LINOS rails have slotted holes for faste- 

ning them to optical tables with M6 or ¼" 

bore hole patterns. The sophisticated design, 

consisting of a precise rail and compatible 

carriers with spring-loaded clamping, en- 

sures an extremely precise positioning of 

components in the structure.

Rail System FLS 25 

The result of continuous further 

development in the field of mechanical 

systems for microoptic applications is the 

mounted rail system FLS 25. With this 

system, linear and planar structures can 

be realized and mounted optics with a 

diameter of 16 mm directly taken into a 

carrier. The compatibility with the LINOS 

Nanobench system enables the application 

of a large number of structure 

components like mirror and prism 

adjusters, positioning units and fiber 

adapters. The optical axis of the total 

system is 20 mm above the work surface.

The LINOS flat rail systems 25 and 

40 are directly compatible to 

Nanobench and Microbench and 

can be easily combined.

The profile with its high degree of 

straightness and low torsion also has a 

high degree of levelness due to the 

precise processing of all guide and 

bearing surfaces. The black anodized rail 

profile has elongated holes so that it can 

be attached to work surfaces with metric 

or inch standard threads as well as 

independent of the pattern. The rail FLS 

25 is available in lengths of 50 mm to 

500 mm. 


Carrier FLR 25 

The carrier FLR 25 serves for direct 

integration of mounted optics with a 

diameter of 16 mm. The carrier is also 

equipped with four borings in a 16 mm 

pattern. These serve to hold the rods of 

the Nanobench and are therefore the 

interface to this system. A large number 

of different structure components of the 

Nanobench system can be mounted on 

the rail. A spring-mounted lever fixes the 

carrier on the rail. When the knurled 

head screw is loosened, the carrier can 

be moved easily and jerk-free due to the 

spring tension. By tightening the knurled 

screw, the carrier can be arrested in a 

position.

Profile System X 25 

The profile system X 25 is ideal for 

assembling linear and planar element 

systems. By using the FLR 25 carrier of 

the rail system FLS 25 all mounted lenses 

and components of the LINOS nanobench 

system can be assembled on this 

profile. The geometry of rail X 25 

enables the carriers to be positioned at 

45° steps around the rails.

The black anodized profiled rail FLS 40 

features high linearity and low torsion. 

Thanks to additional, precise machining, 

all rail and support surfaces of the 

extruded profiled rails are exceptionally 

even. Slots in the profiled rails enable 

components to be assembled in a choice 

of metric or inch standard tapped hole 

patterns, and the rail positions to be 

easily shifted, independently of the 

tapped pattern. A ruler makes it easy to 

locate the components to ensure the 

reproducibility of their positioning. 

The FLS 40 rail system is available in 

various lengths from 40 mm to 1,000 mm 


For higher flexibility you can 

directly combine Rail system FLS40 

and numerous LINOS Systems and 

components like Microbench, 

Spectrometer, Laser, Piezo Positioners.

The FLR 40 carriers are designed to 

connect the FLS 40 rail system to the 

most diverse system components. The 

carriers can be secured in place using a 

spring-loaded thumbscrew. When the 

thumbscrew is loosened, the carriers 

maintain their position because of the 

spring tension. However, they feature 

smooth gliding action for easy positioning. 

As a result, they prevent jolts when 

their position is shifted. 

A 20 mm tapped hole pattern enables a 

number of components of the LINOS 

Microbench system to be mounted, such 

as mounting plates and adjustment 

elements. Moreover, cubes 25 and 30 of 

the Microbench can be mounted on the 

special pattern available on the FLR40-40 

carrier, making it easy to assemble 3-D 

set-ups. A central M6 thread allows rods, 

posts and columns to be mounted.

The FLS 65 Flat Rail System is the latest 

addition to our extensive line of rail 

systems. With its width of 65 mm, the FLS 

65 fills in the gap between the FLS 40 

and FLS 95. In conjunction with LINOS 

assembly elements, FLS 65 lets you install 

mounted optics with a diameter of up to 

2" on the rail. The optical axis of the 

overall system is 65 mm.

A closer look 


The flat, extruded rail features excellent 

straightness properties and low torsion. 

Bearing surfaces are precision processed 

for smooth movement of the carrier. The 

rail features a mat black anodized, 

abrasion-resistant surface. Slotted holes 

make it easy to fasten the rail to optical 

tables independent of existing hole 

patterns, using either M6 or ¼” screws. 

The FLS 65 rail is available in lengths 

from 200 mm to 1500 mm.

and feature a universal bore hole pattern 

for attaching optical mounts. The 

spring-loaded clamp ensures smooth 

movement of the carrier along the rail,

feature mat black, abrasion-resistant 

anodizing. Together with the rail, the 

surface of the carrier is 25 mm above the 

base.

X 95 Profile System 

Universal system for configuring optical 

or high-precision mechanical assemblies 

The X95 profile system includes both 

profiles and carriers, and is a versatile 

construction system for optics and 

precision mechanics. It is particularly well 

suited as an optical bench, or for table 

and frame structures. 

An X95 Profile is a hollow, cylindrical 

aluminum profile with four lateral ridges 

which reinforce the system and also hold 

the carriers. These ridges increase the 

torque of inertia and torsional strain 

considerably. Four threaded bore holes 

on the profile end planes provide 

fastening options for connectors or caps.
