How philippines it-bpo market is
positioned?
• Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) is the means of farming out business
tasks and processes, usually to a third party service provider, who later on
off-shore their labor-intensive operations to the domestic country. In the
Philippines, several organizations were observed to outsource a wide
range of internal office function such as accounting, IT services, HR
service, quality assurance and payment processing. The 90’s in the
Philippines saw emergence of several companies such as Accenture and
Sykes who set up call centers, with jobs being outsourced from outside the
Philippines, especially from the US. In accordance with the Philippines
Department of Transportation and Communications, the country has
grown from weak infrastructure, limited broadband access and insufficient
regulatory support to increasing number of private internet service
providers and higher broad-band speeds ranging from 20-45 mbps for
voice across the nation. The BPO boom in the Philippines is not led by
traditional low value added call centers but by high end outsourcing or
KPOs.
