Programs and Facilities<br />

Campbelltown Library<br />

A regular program of events are a popular and well attended<br />

feature of the Campbelltown Library. Events and programs<br />

this year have included Adelaide Symphony Orchestra Junior<br />

Jams for children, a late night ‘Paranormal Activity’ event,<br />

Daddy/Daughter Hair Day and French Film Fest. The Library<br />

hosted the <strong>Annual</strong> Campbelltown Literary Awards Competition<br />

and awards night, and for the History Festival in May the<br />

Library held a special movie screening of the classic movie<br />

‘The Hayseeds’ among other activities.<br />

Partnerships allow the Library to offer enhanced programs to the<br />

Community. Staff have worked in partnership with The Catalyst<br />

Foundation & the University of SA, Community Services Learning<br />

Project student placements to provide IT training for Community<br />

members. Partnerships were developed to provide virtual classes<br />

and tours with the National Portrait Gallery and the National<br />

Museum of Australia and with the Department of Human Services<br />

to deliver MyGov training.<br />

114 volunteers gave over 10,000 volunteering hours to the<br />

Library assisting with services and tasks such as shelving,<br />

deliveries to housebound patrons, IT help, assistance<br />

with Storytime, Toy Library helpers and Games Group<br />

supervisors. Justices of the Peace contributed nearly 2,000<br />

volunteering hours.<br />

The Library recorded 239,273 visits in <strong>2017</strong>/<strong>2018</strong>, and the<br />

Toy Library had 38,841 visitors. A total of 535,375 items<br />

were borrowed during the year, including books, magazines,<br />

audiobooks, CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays.<br />

Attendance at children’s programs continues to increase,<br />

with 7,057 children attending Storytime through the year,<br />

2,429 for Wriggle & Giggle sessions, and 3,141 for School<br />

Holiday Programs.<br />
