reCent suCCess has garnered kudos.
Wilcox Health continues to enhance patient care with better equipment and innovative
programs, with philanthropic help from the community.
The hospital has installed new digital mammography and bone densitometry units in the
Imaging Center. It has upgraded all endoscopy equipment in the Surgical Center, which has
vastly improved gastroenterology services. It has purchased and put into operation the
high-tech HALO system for the prevention of infant abduction.
The Wilcox Memorial Hospital Auxiliary donated $100,000 in proceeds from the Gift Shop
and Thrift Shop to the Wilcox Health Foundation toward the purchase of medical
equipment. Respiratory Care received a vision ventilatory system, Imaging received a
blanket warmer, and Surgery received a warming cabinet, gastroscope, colonoscope
and smart pump.
Design of the new Women’s Health Center is complete, and will open in 2009. The opening
will enable some additional conveniences: we will move Outpatient Rehabilitation
from Kukui Grove back to the hospital, move Cardiopulmonary Services nearer to the
Women’s Health Center, and move Infusion Services to the lobby entrance to provide
better access to chemotherapy for cancer patients.
Our achievements have not gone unnoticed. U.S. News and World Report, in its
“America’s Best Hospitals” issue, bestowed on Wilcox Memorial Hospital a 2008 Silver
Medal, Annual Performance Award. Statewide health organizations, including HMSA and
the Mountain-Pacific Quality Improvement Organization, have recognized us for
exceptional quality patient care.
