A Secret About Your Coach<br />

Here...<br />

There my wife and I were at<br />

her family?s Christmas party?<br />

? our 5th one that holiday<br />

season (you know what I?m<br />

talking about )<br />

We were going through the<br />

line of food and scooping up<br />

some potatoes. Just then,<br />

<strong>Sandy</strong>, my sister in law, lets<br />

loose a perfect,<br />

word-for-word line from Pride<br />

& Prejudice?<br />

Oh that Mr. Collins and his<br />

potatoes!<br />

My wife and I were confused<br />

because we hadn't seen the<br />

movie, so that gorgeous<br />

souled sister in law of mine<br />

had to explain the movie to<br />

us.<br />

In just TALKING about the<br />

movie, her entire demeanor<br />

changed! She was smiling and<br />

giggling and all happy-like!<br />

Just thinking about that movie,<br />

she was lin all sorts of feel<br />

goods.<br />

She asked if we wanted to<br />

watch it? If so, she would<br />

borrow the movies to us! Just<br />

asking us that, she was so<br />

excited for us to experience it<br />

for ourselves!<br />

So we did!<br />

We watched it, my wifey and I.<br />

And I LOVED it! It was chock<br />

FULL of killer romantic<br />

one-liners I can use on my<br />

wife to make her like me more<br />

Such as:<br />

?You may only call me "Mrs.<br />

Darcy"... when you are<br />

completely, and perfectly, and<br />

incandescently happy.?<br />

? and then he goes on to call<br />

her ?Mrs. Darcy? a whole<br />

bunch of times! Brilliant!<br />

Want to know WHY watching a<br />

movie works MARVELOUSLY at<br />

KO-ing stress if and when that<br />

stories sends your mood<br />

soaring by washing away<br />

The thing you need to know<br />

about our emotions is that?<br />

YOU CAN ONLY FEEL ONE<br />

are playing on their phone<br />

when you?re trying to talk to<br />

? and NOT paying attention to<br />

emotions. They are a<br />

one-t rack beast , My dear.<br />

Your brain, body, and being<br />

can only attend to ONE<br />

emotion at a time.<br />

And you get to choose what<br />

that emotion is!<br />

What determines your


emotions, such as stress?<br />

Obviously, it is outside<br />

forces, like the stuff going<br />

on in the world.<br />

But once you are aware that<br />

you are experiencing an<br />

emotion that you would<br />

rather not have?<br />

? like stress?<br />

? YOU CAN CHOOSE TO<br />

CHANGE THAT EMOTION!<br />

As soon as you become<br />

AWARE of that? you now<br />

have the power to change it!<br />

By making the conscious<br />

choice to switch to a NEW<br />

EMOTION!...<br />

CHOOSE to go from a<br />

negative emotion like stress<br />

to a positive one, like those<br />

ROMANCE feelings!<br />

So next time life and to-do?s<br />

and overwhelm and<br />

pressures and feels like the<br />

weight of the world is on<br />

your shoulders?<br />

? pop in your favorite go to<br />

Romance and choose to feel<br />

a new EMOTION.<br />

mother when he's cross about<br />

So just like my sister-in-law<br />

did when we were at that<br />

Christmas party... and her<br />

just thinking about one of her<br />

favorite movies changed her<br />

emotional state?<br />

? she was onto a hack that<br />

you can use when stress<br />

starts getting to you.<br />

It?s a super-simple<br />

psychological trick that<br />

WORKS like MAGIC?<br />

? called Romance Olfactory<br />

Anchoring. (ROA for short)<br />

It?s a long story to explain it?s<br />

origins, so I?ll just get right to<br />

how to do it.<br />

Have you heard of Pavlov?s<br />

dog? Pavlov rang the bell and<br />

gave his hungry puppy a juicy<br />

steak.<br />

Of course, the puppy started<br />

salivating because what dog<br />

doesn?t love a juicy steak?<br />

Before long, the dog linked<br />

up, or associated in his mind,<br />

the connection between the<br />

ringing of the bell? and the<br />

steak, that just the ringing of<br />

the bell was all that was


needed to make the dog start drooling.<br />

In fun psychological terms, that is called a<br />

conditioned response.<br />

(now I expect you to go and use that term<br />

when talking with your friends so you sound<br />

really smart and stuff)<br />

Your conditioned response you want is<br />

those romantic feel-good feelings you would<br />

rather have than that dumb STRESS.<br />

So you just make your own ?bell? to elicit<br />

that response. And it?s so simple to do!<br />

And with your smart brain, it happens about<br />

100x faster than it would a hungry dog!<br />

Here?s what you do?<br />

St ep1:<br />

put in your calendar this week to watch your<br />

favorite romantic flick!<br />

The one that REALLY gets those happy tears<br />

a-flowing.<br />

You know the one! You?re getting excited<br />

right now just thinking about it now, aren?t<br />

you!?<br />

St ep 2:<br />

Grab a favorable SMELL that is fairly strong<br />

to you. This will serve as your ?bell?<br />

Make sure it is unique, and something that<br />

wouldn?t be too much of hassle to grab<br />

when you are feeling stressed.<br />

A couple of good examples would be<br />

perfumes, cologne, air fresheners, <strong>Feb</strong>reeze,<br />

and Essential Oils (was that supposed to be<br />

capitalized?).<br />

YOU J UST MADE A<br />

SHORT C UT ! GOOD<br />

FOR YOU!...<br />

"<br />

Candles work amazing too if you are able to<br />

set up it up in places where you get stressed,<br />

i.e. the HOME!<br />

St ep 3: WATCH that movie!<br />

(husband/significant other there with you<br />

optional) ;)<br />

St ep 4: When you are at the peak of your<br />

emotions with that movie.... Happiness, and<br />

glee and relief and maybe those happy tears<br />

are flowing like rain drops?<br />

? grab your smell and take in as nice and deep<br />

of an inhale as you can.<br />

BAM! Your anchor is all SET! That smell is now<br />

all linked up with those happy, romance<br />

feelings that wash away stress.<br />

You just made a SHORTCUT! Good for you!<br />

Just like Pavlov?s dog started drooling when he<br />

heard the bell? .<br />

? you?re going to start feeling those ?HAPPY<br />

ROMANCE? feelings whenever you smell that<br />

one smell.<br />

Only you are going to use it when the need<br />

best arises?<br />

? Like REPLACING those feelings of stress!<br />

This is a psychological phenomenon called<br />

?anchoring? and your smart brain has been<br />

smell that ?takes you<br />

watch them grow and<br />

to<br />

"<br />

that place?!<br />

Isn?t this stuff so cool?<br />

And it?s free to do!<br />

So whatever life<br />

throws at you.<br />

Whenever those<br />

feelings of<br />

you?re going to die an<br />

old lady, warm in your<br />

bed. Not here...Not this<br />

night. Do you<br />

understand me?<br />

A prime example is a<br />

powerful song that<br />

you love that<br />

whenever you hear it,<br />

Look no further than<br />

your WEDDING<br />

SONG! Whenever you<br />

hear it, you probably<br />

think of your wedding<br />

day, don?t you?<br />

Or remember that<br />

Seinfeld episode<br />

where Elaine was<br />

dating a guy that just<br />

got lost in the song<br />

?Desperado?.<br />

That song would<br />

come on and it just<br />

enchanted him and<br />

he couldn?t do<br />

anything else. Like he<br />

was hypnotized by it<br />

or something.<br />

It?s something like<br />

that you are doing<br />

here with this ROA,<br />

only you are doing it<br />

with a smell instead<br />

of a song.<br />

But a song works just<br />

as good too if you<br />

want! Next time that<br />

stress has got a hold<br />

of you and you would<br />

rather NOT have it,<br />

load up a song or<br />

freak-outness, stress,<br />

overwhelm, and<br />

wishing there were<br />

more hours in a day?<br />

? stressing about<br />

anything..<br />

? go grab your smell,<br />

whatever it is...<br />

whiff, and all of a<br />

sudden those feelings<br />

of HAPPINESS &<br />

ROMANCE?<br />

most and this morning here was<br />

somewhere in the middle.<br />

It didn?t help that our Mom Hero<br />

wanted sleep just as much, and<br />

if it wasn?t for her Mom Warrior<br />

Coffee already coursing through<br />

her veins, she would have been<br />

really screwed.<br />

She was about to let her rising<br />

frustration loose and do some<br />

screaming but then she<br />

remembered the tips that she<br />

got from her friend, Jeni, the<br />

other day, namely tip #3.<br />

Her friend Jeni is awesome and<br />

stays up to date on all the stuff<br />

that we here at Mom Warrior<br />

kick out in regards to fighting<br />

stress & tiredness so that she<br />

can show up stronger for her<br />

complaining a bit to Jeni<br />

about having trouble getting<br />

her daughter out of bed in<br />

the morning.<br />

So Jeni shared with her some<br />

cool stuff she learned.<br />

Her first tip to our Mom<br />

1. Put a Priorit y on Sleep!<br />

?Make sure she is getting<br />

enough! (and you too, my<br />

dear!)? said the joyful Jeni.<br />

?After numerous studies and<br />

thousands of ?logged? sleep<br />

hours?<br />

? Jeni paused to see if her<br />

friend got it? . She smiled a<br />

bit and just rolled her eyes.<br />

increase in BATTLES trying to get<br />

them out of bed in the<br />

of quality sleep at night<br />

fun things for them to<br />

keys to making sure<br />

the sleep is of high<br />

quality is to get rid of<br />

the BLUE LIGHT from<br />

electronic devices an<br />

hour before bed and<br />

have it no where near<br />

The brain mistakes that<br />

blue light as daylight<br />

and so doesn?t go all<br />

the way into deep<br />

sleep. Negating all the<br />

many benefits of it.<br />

I found that I have to<br />

be the example for my<br />

children on this, my<br />

?It?s hard, but I noticed<br />

that I have more<br />

energy from getting<br />

better sleep myself.<br />

choice and once a<br />

week, Mom drove me<br />

my siblings out to the<br />

weekly check-ins with being a teacher that<br />

our Piano Teacher. she would know within<br />

whether your child should learn to play an<br />

Moral about life using my story of learning to play<br />

the piano.<br />

That was some serious time commitment, and<br />

monetary commitment (although thankfully, I<br />

didn?t have to front the bill!) to learn to play the<br />

piano.<br />

In my beginning days of an entrepreneur, I<br />

started off as a Personal Trainer. There serving<br />

as a guide, or Coach, towards people wanting<br />

to live a healthier life and losing weight.<br />

In fact, people straight up REFUSED to try and<br />

go at it on their own. Those that did, typically<br />

ended up failing.<br />

Then a cool t hing happens w hen w e<br />

becom e adult s..<br />

- ? ? ? ? We grow up<br />

- ? ? ? . Meet that special someone we<br />

can?t stop thinking about<br />

- ? ? . We ride the roller coaster of<br />

romance and love<br />

- ? . Sometimes it leads to marriage<br />

And that?s when something particular<br />

happens.<br />

It was just sort of expected, that if we wanted to<br />

be good at something that we felt it was valuable<br />

TO BE GOOD AT IT? (like playing the piano) we<br />

hired a ?guide? of some sorts to show us the way.<br />

In fact, this is so rooted in our DNA, that if<br />

somebody learned something WITHOUT a guide<br />

in music, we called that ?Self-Taught.?...<br />

? and lauded that fellow with higher esteem and<br />

?Boy, he must be REALLY smart to learn on his<br />

own how to do that!?<br />

me to get good at playing it,<br />

so I didn?t sound like a fool in<br />

Investing my time, energy,<br />

effort, and Mom & Dad?s<br />

money into acquiring this<br />

seek out ?marriage counseling.?<br />

And it is usually at the behest of<br />

one side of this partnership<br />

getting ?dragged along? and<br />

feeling forced to comply.<br />

Successful Marriage/Relationship? is.<br />

You both sit down together for 10 minutes and<br />

get clear on what YOUR definition of a happy,<br />

successful m arriage is.<br />

You think on it? then go first. Then you invite<br />

him to respond.<br />

If he can?t nail it down there, just give him time<br />

to think on it.<br />

definition too? I don?t like fighting and conflict, so<br />

what goes into my definition was not much of<br />

that going on.<br />

Or George?s parents from Seinfeld.<br />

conversation territory stuff here. So don?t toss<br />

out the ?We Need To Talk? phrase.<br />

It?s just getting clear on what each other?s<br />

active in sports 5 days<br />

When they had their<br />

soccer games, she<br />

wanted them to know<br />

that their Mom was<br />

proud of them and<br />

supported them in<br />

their passions. It took<br />

every bit of strength<br />

and effort just to<br />

carry her chair,<br />

walk to the field,<br />

and watch them play. And was sure to save<br />

just a little bit of energy in reserves to shout<br />

and cheer her girls on.<br />

Even there at their games, she couldn?t be<br />

fully present and soak in her daughters?<br />

performances because the exhaustion was<br />

just so daunting and draining.<br />

She felt like she was missing out on their<br />

childhood.<br />

There wasn?t a name for it at the time, when<br />

this Mom Hero was facing it? but she was<br />

actually suffering from the WORST form of<br />

exhaustion?<br />

Missing-Out Mom Fat igue? (MOMF)<br />

(Missing-Out Mom Fatigue? - A form of<br />

tiredness that is so ruining that you feel like<br />

you?re missing out on your kids?childhood.<br />

Made worse by the fact that your usual<br />

crutches of coffee and energy drinks are no<br />

longer enough.)<br />

If you, gentle Reader, ever wonder why this<br />

It has become my MISSION to become the<br />

I ignored this Call for much of my life because<br />

I was scared. I was a coward. I wasn?t brave<br />

7 As if her family didn?t suffer enough, as if our<br />

Mom Hero?s SOUL hadn?t been hurt enough?<br />

? the fatigue kept her from having friends<br />

over and do the things that SHE wanted to<br />

do. She felt ashamed of her dirty house. All<br />

the housework that never seemed to end.<br />

She wanted to have friends over, and she<br />

could barely muster the energy to clean the<br />

house for her family, let alone for company!<br />

Although she attended church regularly, she<br />

really wanted to serve others in need. She<br />

felt those twinges of The Call, like your Coach<br />

here did.<br />

But because of that stupid fatigue, she didn?t<br />

even attempt volunteering for anything<br />

because she was always too tired.<br />

Then came the brain fog. Brain fog that made<br />

it impossible to focus at work.<br />

There was also the sleep issues. It was so<br />

frustrating to be so tired all day, finally<br />

resting her head on her pillow at night ...and<br />

not being able to fall asleep.<br />

Unable to take it any longer, our Mom Hero<br />

began the search for answers.<br />

She went to her doctors for help.<br />

A doctor suggested some prescriptions for<br />

sleeping, but our Mom Hero knew it wasn?t<br />

pills that she needed.<br />

She did some digging on her own. She talked<br />

to friends of her about it. Opened up on<br />

Facebook about her struggles, asking if<br />

anybody else faced things similar.<br />

She did numerous Google searches and with<br />

what little energy and time she had, began<br />

reading articles and watching videos<br />

pertaining to her symptoms. Suddenly a friend<br />

of hers reached out...<br />

...shared that she used to face something<br />

similar a while ago. Asked our Mom Hero if she<br />

heard of what?s called...<br />

Clogged Liver Condit ion<br />

?No... I?m afraid not,? asked our curious Mom<br />

On her Mission to getting her<br />

energy and life back, she<br />

many processed carbs are<br />
