18 | January 24, 2019 | Malibu surfside news malibu malibusurfsidenews.com IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT The Malibu Emergency Relief Fund Due to exhaustion of all funds donated and raised, the Disaster Relief Center and The Malibu Emergency Relief fund operated by the Boys & Girls Club of Malibu will cease operations effective Tuesday, January 22, 2019. The Malibu Emergency Relief fund operated by the Boys & Girls Club of Malibu has received $1,505,272.08 as of Friday, January 18, 2019. $1,225,465.77 has been disbursed and granted to 480 individuals/families for immediate emergency funding. Remaining funds will be dispersed among submitted/pending applications. The BGCM is working with Certified Public Accountants Guzman & Gray, whom is performing on-going audits of the fund, from inception to completion: the application & distribution process, bank accounts and assurance of the proper use of funds within the guidelines of the fund establishment. These audits will be shared with the public upon completion. We thank our beloved community for entrusting us with this duty; it’s been an honor to serve Malibu during this difficult time. Crisis counseling continues to be available at the Teen Center for Malibu students affected by the Woolsey Fire. We thank you for your support as we return to our regular club operations. We would also like to give a big thank you to everyone who donated to our community through monetary and in-kind donations. We could not have done this without all of your kindness!
