First
Berliner
Art Book
- 2016 -

Time without truth has always been, in my opinion, an incomplete notion. And if this art
album brings together, in quite an extraordinary way, the destinies of artists with unique souls,
the name of each one deserving a star, only time will inscribe their names in the contemporary
art, emanating into the ether this artistic vibration, along with the echo of their generous and
creative personalities.
WThere is a form of altruism in the richness of the paintings proposed by these exclusive
contemporary artists, the sum of vast experiences and sometimes of torment, of a sustained
work in the searching of the Self and in the unfolding of the expressive capacities, in order to
transmit the unicity of our time.
This could be a manual of our present, with its infinite forms and colors, themes and subjects.
I thank, in the name of the group Art Management Berlin, the artists who made this edition
of international contemporary art, published in Berlin, possible. I wish all of them to keep on
transmitting and sharing, with the same generosity, and to fully enjoy the fruits of it.
Affectionately,
trustee, Gabriela Caranfil
A heartfelt thanks to all those involved into this art project, who made the publishing
Aivars Kisnics
Aivars Kisnics was born on the 16th of November, 1955, in Madona, Latvia. Since 1956 he lives
in Liepaja, the most beautiful place at the Baltic Sea.
His oil on canvas paintings are multi-layered abstractions featuring abrupt changes in texture,
usingfragmen-tation to catch the traces of the expressive subliminal impulse. As a former
navigator, he has a special relationships with the sea and its salt water. The focal point of his adult
professional life is his creative work.
The meeting of sea and sky, or the ‘horizon’, appears as a recurring trope in his works, along
with an emphasis on the interaction between horizontal and vertical lines.
Aline Halle-Gilbert
Aline Halle-Gilbert is an impressionist painter, a self - thought artist, born in Quebec, Canada. She
has had several personal group exhibitions, and her works can be found in many personal collections
in different countries, from Canada to the United States and New-Zeeland.
She feels passionately about painting, doing it in what could be called a compulsive way, using
acrylic and oil on canvas with a palette knife.
When she paints, she never knows the outcome. People appear and disappear and the scenery
evolves through her imagination. She paints from within.
Andy Young
Andy Young has been working with digital art for about 3 years. He has developed a unique style with
colorful, multilayered images, with a clever use of a variety of angled brushes which produce imaginative
effects. With such a style, the genre of his artwork is not specific to one area. There is a nurturing process
unfolding from a blank canvas to a completed project, following the many twists and turns, and seeing
one idea mutate into a completely different one is all part of the fun of the journey. His good sense of
humor and affable nature often spills into his work, and one could describe a lot of what he produces as
‘quirky’ - as do many of his Facebook and Twitter followers.
Annette Mewes-Thoms
It is almost always the line which determines Annette Mewes-Thoms present work. The line has arisen
in the course of the time from her intensive water studies. With pencil, paintbrush or camera she crosses
and devours lines in several layers. Spaces between the lines grant views into the depth of the picture.
The artist was born in Brunsbüttel, Germany, and works in her studio in Hamburg. Since 1989 she
studies painting at Bundesakademie für kulturelle Bildung, Wolfenbüttel, currently with Prof. Rolf
Thiele, France.
Since 2012 she organizes the Danish-German exhibition project «Kunstnere mødes – Künstler treffen
Avi Feiler
Avi Feiler (b.1949), an Israeli and international artist, is one of the most important figurative artists
of the modern era and Fantastic Art. About his work he says; it is a reminder and an anchor for the
culture inherent in the art of painting, a culture of conscious creation, as in the Story of Creation, to
bring from nothingness-substance, to create dimensions through layers of light, to create warm and
exciting windows to pass through. The art of painting which requires words creates a limiting scale.
The real source of art is that which is before words, that which is “causing the “heart flutter, “well of
butterflies” derived from my comes up choking in the throat, it lights stars in the eyes, a feeling of
life, love, beauty. There is already enough negative energy on the scales of our existence. I consciously
choose to create positive energy through my work. The personal qualities of the painter Avi Feiler are
clearly expressed in the wide variety of his paintings. His painting techniques were perfected through
the many years of his work, all over the world.
Barbara Carter
Barbara Carter (Barbie) is a self-taught artist who grew up on a farm in the country side of Texas,
in the USA. Having no toys to play with, she used the only thing she had: her imagination. Using
that imagination gave her the tools to become the artist she is today. In the plowed fields behind
her house she would draw an imaginary play house, then would proudly sit on a row of dirt with
only a pencil and lined paper in her hands and would draw and dream of becoming an artist. Those
childhood circumstances were the fuel which have set her artistic vision on fire and it´s precisely
those experiences which render each piece of her art an expression of that same imagination which
allowed her to dream an impossible dream and make it become her reality. Good art is not so much
about technique as about an expression that moves your soul. Having raised her family, Barbie is now
able to fully devote her life to her art. You`re invited to come along and share her journey.
the earth. She devotes her work to health through colors.
Bea Danckaert
Bea Danckaert was born on May 15th, 1948 in Leuven and resides in Blanden. She graduated from
the Art Academy de Lei in Leuven and perfected her drawing skills during five years with Joost Laroy.
Bea’s paintings, according to Hugo Brutin, are a constant ambush for those who admire colours,
movement and interaction, of presences with a low visibility who seem to flee when one can nearly
catch them.
Dani Pulinckx adds: The simplicity she reflects in her work shows her ability as an artist who goes way
further then only technique would allow.
Contact details can be found on her website: www.danckaertbea.com, including her portfolio of which
more than thirty paintings are incorporated in the P.G.M. Art World catalogue.
expression. His painting is a way of communicating feelings and views, or criticism of a type
of society. His expression is characterized by a broad stroke and by the use of intense colors,
sometimes naive, sometimes fauve.
He is a member of associations of artists, among which The Free Association of Moncayo
Artists. Some of his works are to be found in various private collections in Mexico City, in France
(Paris, Gagny), U.S.A (New Jersey) and Spain, (Santander, Sevilla, Novallas, Tarazona, Zaragoza,
After taking retirement in 1996, at the age of 61, he attended Concordia University. He graduated
(Suma Cum Laude) in 2001 with a degree in Fine Arts, specializing in Studio Arts, Drawing &
To Chris Riley, aesthetically successful art regardless of media, and whether objective or nonobjective,
combines all pictorial elements such as shape, form, and color into a composition that is
structurally sound.
“Like the work of nature, the work of art is subordinated to the same law, that of construction. The
individual parts have life by virtue of the whole.”
Dmitry Fesechko
Dmitry Fesechko, born in 1988, is an artist from Moscow who works in different mediums –
acrylics, digital art, but most of the time he dedicates himself to painting in oils. He uses unique
multilayer technique that takes its origin from old masters of the past. Translucent shadows and
volumetric light create the illusion that the painting is like a window to another dimension. Many
of his works are an extraordinary blending of gorgeous fantasy and deep philosophy; others are
made in more classical genres.
Francesco Sandrelli
Painting as knowledge or painting as expression?
For Sandrelli it is a kind of ecological love for the universe. The fact is a part of the evolving
cosmos. He wants to achieve a map which would lead to knowledge against pure self-celebration
or celebration of the individual. If one wants to compare, one would rather find a term of
comparison in the Middle-Ages rather than in the modernism and in its evaluation of the world
based on the Self.
means are different. One is faced with the utilization of space to make a comprehensible whole.
Artist and musician, Gary Law, has paintings and drawings hanging in private collections in
Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia,
Poland, Scotland and the USA.
His art comes from an intuitive need to transport what resides in his head to a painting. He traverses
representational and abstract forms with a current preference for abstract and a passion for texture
and colour. Both the dark and the vibrant are explored through extensive mixed media. Gary has
Henrik Brøndsted
Henrik Brøndsted, a self-taught photographer with a master’s degree in film and communication,
has worked for years with black and white portraits. Always trying to go behind the surface and
capture emotions and feelings. He won a gold medal for one of his portraits in an international
photo competition. In the last two years, he has gone further and is now exploring the themes
of identity and time. With long exposure he «stretches» the photos, and so duration becomes
evident and identity seems to vanish. The photographic realism disappears and from his photos,
very light grey and soft, a sort of poetry emerges.
Isabel Tapias
Isabel Tapias started as a graphic design student specializing in illustration, airbrush, and computer
design, in which she has worked as a professional. Whilst she was working, she continued with oil
painting and became a pupil of the important painter Angel Orcajo.
Among her advertising works are magazine covers and inside advertising, as well as some designs
for Nintendo.
From 1998 to 2015 she has done several exhibitions in galleries, cultural centers, and has also
taken part in important art fairs around Spain.
A description of her work might be: representing nature through the use of different materials to
create a harmonious work showing us the varied aspects of our Universe.
The technique: use of different kinds of textures such as stone, dust, cloth or sand. This emulates
distinct motifs of nature which in turn highlight its expressiveness. She feels the necessity to
experiment with new things, which in turn give her different focus on her work, meanwhile
producing suggestive aspects.
Jorge Vilaca
Jorge Vilaca’s relationship with art started early. First in Portugal and afterwards in all the places
he went to.
His passion for painting became a reality in 2006. Since then he has developed a strong and
consistent path that lead to his participation in many exhibitions.
His artistic personality reflects his character and unique originality. These features arose in him
the will to improve his professional skills. So he tried different techniques, giving them his personal
vision.
A strong sensuality is easily captured in his art. Nevertheless, Jorge is still the shy teenager who
sees the world for the first time.
His materials are unusual and rough. He uses rotten wood, recycled metal, leather, rust and
found objects. With a high degree of artistic craftsmanship, it´s obvious that the substance lies not
only in the tangible materials, but in the messages each piece conveys.
Rosen’s work can be found in public and private art collections both in the United States and
Joseph Watchman Kaliher
“A free flying magical, a mystery tour of a mind turned inside out and displayed in naked
wonder to the world.” This is one of the many quotations which concern this visionary and
talented artist.
Joseph Watchman Kaliher was born in Texas in 1970; he attended the Fine Arts Academy of
Florence, Italy, and the Institut Supérieur de Peinture “Van der Keelen et Logelain” in Brussels,
Belgium. Joseph´s talent and training, along with his multi-facetted personality, have allowed
him to work in many fields of the visual arts: from interior design to portrait and surrealism.
His works are, in fact, the interpretation of his philosophy, which he named “Genuine Rethoric”.
Among Kaliher´s appraisers are Paloma Picasso and the Fondazione Enrico Coveri, which
wanted to have his works alongside those of “giants” such as Keith Haring and Man Ray. Since
June 2003, he has been working only for Galleria Paviglianiti of Florence, Italy.
Kurt Steinle
Kurt Steinle was born in Aachen in 1954 and now lives on a small farm from the 17th century,
just over the border, in Belgium. A few years ago, he discovered photography to be his passion.
He has attended a few workshops by the theatre photographer Rainer Gillessen and then turned
especially to portraits and street photography. He particularly likes to stroll through Paris.
If the represented scene requires people, he tries to preserve the privacy and identity of the
persons in it, meaning that if ever he is to show faces, which happens quite seldom, he does it
with great care.
Pascal Russi
Pascal Russi has been painting for over twenty-five years.
Given that he always wanted to avoid compartmentalization in a single register, his
painting is constantly evolving through experiment. It gives him pleasure to create, to take
the liberty of choosing a new path or an opposite direction, incorporating new techniques
into his concept, without dispersing it.
A disability depriving him of the use of one hand, makes him think twice before starting
a project.
of making his works somewhat different from the main stream abstract. He has recently shown
works at the Italian exhibition «Words and Works» which was held in conjunction with the 2015
Venice Biennale and also in the 2015 exhibition «Contemporary Visions» ,which was held in
Florence, Italy. His profile can be found on Facebook under Paul McNulty.
Roswitha Klotz
Roswitha Klotz is a German artist, who grew up in Bad Kissingen, qualified in Munich and is
now living in Regensburg/Bavaria.
Painting and making music are the two constant companions in the life of Roswitha Klotz.
After a long time of figurative painting, she realized that she could at best reveal what she wanted
in an abstract version.
The sounds and sensitive colors of music are reflected in her paintings, along with the magnificent
inspiration of nature she got on many trips to Italy and Greece and a lot of countries of Europe
and the U.S.A. Right beside it, the motives and structures of music often give the background
of her art.
After all, her paintings show a very beneficial reflection of the world. Her philosophy is to show
people the beauty in art, in order to have an impact and enhance the positive side of life.
Romulo Galicano
Romulo Noel Galicano born in Carcar, Cebu Philippines, in 1945. He started painting landscape,
studying direct observations of colors from nature, and following Leonardo da Vinci’s advice
that nature is the best teacher. This also served as preparation for figures.
When he migrated to Manila, he became an adept of portraiture, as a means of gaining more
advanced knowledge of the human figure, especially the physiological state of the figure. By
painting portraiture for many years, it eventually had allowed him to advance to the Grand
Manner of figure painting and genre painting, which he began nearly thirty years ago.
Galicano’s work is, technically, academic in rendering, but his philosophical approach is basically
ABSTRACT. In judging his work (and those of others). his first concern is the INTEGRITY of
the whole. The style and subject are only secondary.
“The vertical lines in his painting are a reconciliation between opposite poles and the merging
of the SUBJECTIVE and the OBJECTIVE. Creating a new meaningful work of art.”
He believes that every artist, no matter what his stature is, should never be a prisoner of himself
or of his philosophy, reputation, success and above all his vanity.
The direction of every artist should be FREEDOM.
Siddiq Mumtaz
Siddiq Mumtaz was born in New Delhi, India, in 1934.
He had been raised in India and Pakistan, having lived also between USA & UAE. He grew up in
a city which has a violent and charged history related to the independence movement of India and
Pakistan of 1930-1947. Whenever he stands in front of his easel to paint any subject, it literally is like
a re-enactment of the entire set of memories, lost in a pile of rubble. Being a Muslim, he discovers a
project,” Visual Dhiker” (meaning visual remembrance of God) through his Paintings.
He successfully draws the beauties of ugly things.
He studied in Jamia Milia Delhi, Model High School Karachi Pakistan, Meyo School of Art (now
NSA). Lahore, Pakistan. He spent the 45 years after his studies in business. He is owning an interior
designing firm: “DESIGNING RESORT”.
Thierry Noben
Photography has always been a hobby for Thierry Noben, either as a tool in the practice of his
profession as an architect or while traveling as a way to catch vacation memories.
But today, this passion takes a new direction, so that one may speak of «artistic» photography.
Remy Donadieu said: «Photography embellishes misery by dressing light.»
For his part, with this first series of photographs, he would rather magnify the subject. By
photographing damaged, worn, cracked, rusted objects, he wants to get an emotion, to bring
out the beauty in these ever-present elements or on these surfaces, despite their transformation
due to weather and time.
