A TRADITION DATING<br />
BACK TO 1827!<br />
1827: Construction starts on the 5th oldest French-speaking<br />
school in North America.<br />
1829: The Collège de Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière opens.<br />
1894: Running water installed at the Collège.<br />
1915 : Electricity is installed.<br />
1920: A fire destroys part of the building.<br />
1923: Renovations are finished.<br />
1945: Empress Zita of Austria visits the Collège.<br />
1964: The first female students arrive at the Collège, studying<br />
Belletristic Literature.<br />
1965 – 1971: American Peace Corps groups are welcomed for<br />
French language immersion.<br />
1982 – 1995: More than 2000 students from George Brown<br />
College in Toronto arrive for French language<br />
immersion.<br />
1995: Opening of the Collège Music School, now known under<br />
the name of École Destroismaisons.<br />
1995: The talent show Secondaire en spectacle is created by<br />
one of the Collège’s students; an event which now showcases<br />
student talent from over 260 schools throughout<br />
the province.<br />
2001: The first students in the Explore program arrive for a<br />
French language immersion program offered by the<br />
Campus St-Jean of the University of Alberta.<br />
2004: Arrival of the first long-stay international students<br />
undertaking a French language immersion program.<br />
2008: The Collège de Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière appears on<br />
the cover page of the reputed magazine L’actualité<br />
having placed first amongst all private schools in Quebec<br />
for its impact on the success of its students.<br />
2012: Gradual introduction of the obligatory use of an I-pad<br />
for all students at the Collège.<br />
2014: The Collège takes first place in Eastern Quebec, statistics<br />
and findings compiled by the Fraser Institute of Vancouver.<br />
2018: 1 8 th edition of the Explore French language immersion<br />
program.
