Editorial
Like Spiderman, if anything or anyone has been able to
spread its web at the global platform in the most utmost
manner is the ‘World Wide Web’. With the evolution of the
commercial Internet in the 90’s, it had a radical impact on culture,
commerce, and technology of every country. Going down the
memory lane, ‘Arpanet’ is the ancestor of the Internet in the modern
era. Introduced in the 1960’s, it laid the path for this technology to
evolve and transform as per varying requirements from the different
constituent of the society.
Be it the ease of asking ‘Alexa’ to play your favorite song to having
a seamless video call with your friends and families staying miles
apart or even with someone walking on the moon, the journey has
been truly very evident and has knitted the world into the web of
Internet technology.
The Internet:
Unleashing
Innite
Possibilities
As an electric engine was the vector of the technological
transformation of the industrial age, the Internet is undoubtedly the
most decisive technology in today’s information age. It’s quite
fascinating to explore a technology that has become a mainstay in
our everyday life. In the Indian perspective, the Internet was
considered to be a luxury and a style quotient post Y2K, has
transformed into a basic necessity in today’s life.
The Indian ISP market is witnessing a surge with the advent of new
players along with the established giants in the industry. The market
is progressive and competitive in nature as players have created
their own niche segment and are the pioneers of embracing
innovative technologies at their end. Although India has the world’s
nd
2 Largest ‘Internet’ population, at the global level, it stands quite
low in terms of ‘internet usage-to-population ratio’.
The transformation from ‘kbps’ to ‘gbps’ has clearly opened up new
possibilities – both in the commercial and household sector. As the
backbone to the tech companies, the evolution of the Internet is not
less than a ‘Tsunami’ that aspires new technology to breathe in. As
the top players continue to make roads in the unexplored territories,
the Indian ISP market is set on the right trajectory of growth and
expansion.
Consistency and Constant Efforts Balances the Wheel
The transformational journey of the ISP industry has
been nothing less than a phenomenon. Infrastructure,
demand, and supply are the core segments which have
been constantly evolving and the players are embracing
every new innovation to stay ahead of the competition.
The influx of internet and the surge of video streaming
over the past decade have made ‘high-speed’ internet as
a necessity of life, rather than a luxury. SME’s along
with individuals are demanding higher bandwidth as
most of the SME’s are migrating to cloud-based services.
Video-on-demand services like YouTube, Netflix, and
Amazon Prime are not restricted to the youth anymore;
people from all age group are utilizing these services
according to their needs. Researchers predict that by
2021, the broadband speeds will nearly double with
wired devices accounting for thirty-seven percent of
global IP traffic and thirty-five percent of end-user
internet traffic delivering within a metro network.
Demand traffic is also set to double along with the
internet gaming traffic which is expected to grow nearly
ten folds during the same period. Every year, the demand
for bandwidth is increasing by over seventy-five percent.
The ISP industry, on the other hand, is steadily gearingup
to cater to the various demands emerging from
different segments. The players are aiming to penetrate
into the unexplored markets by delivering high-speed
internet at very competitive rates. The advent of fiber
optics, ISP’s are better placed in delivering data
transmission at a much faster rate which would be
pivotal in catering to the needs of the consumers.
The Core Values – Setting New Benchmarks
For World Phone, quality service, customer satisfaction,
and affordability are the key guiding force around which
binds the company policy to deliver customer-friendly
solutions in the market. Emphasizing innovation and
showcasing creativity along with uniqueness in
developing their systems are the USP of the entity. It
delivers innovative, unique and practical end-to-end
solutions, and leverages its expertise in technology to
expedite the client’s business success. The extremely
talented work-force and the valued list of loyal
customers are the two major success factors, setting the
right growth of trajectory for the company.
Enticing Potential Clients with Comprehensive
Strategies
The cohesive approach and a unified progress from
different segments including the Government, private
players, and steady technical innovations have created a
positive outlook for the ISP market in India. Leaders
from various verticals who form an integral part of the
leadership team at World Phone and had put forth their
views of the future and how the entity does plans to
embrace the changes for the journey ahead.
Akhil Khera (Country Head – Sales) - In today’s era,
disruption leads the way towards innovation and
evolution. The industry will experience rapid innovation.
The services need to be bundled with disruptive
technologies, thus embracing change and drive growth
along with the need to bundle accessibility with
affordability.

“
Innovating
multi-pronged
strategies and
earning customer
patronage for a
“
longer period of
time is our forte
Kamlesh Kumar (Vice-President – Support, Training, and Development) - India will remain the fastest growing internet
destination in coming years, provided the fact that it is the second most populous country in the world. Internet
penetration in these areas has already reached saturation. It is estimated that around 75% of new user growth will
come from rural areas in coming years.
Ravindra Kumar Rajput (Assistant Vice-President - Networks) - Internet Industry is perhaps now the most competitive and
disruptive industry. As a business, ISPs have to focus on providing a consistent and high-quality service to its customers as
well as maintain the profitability of the business.
Keeping a dominant stance towards the future, the company is working towards a multi-pronged strategy to counter the
competition and stay ahead in the market. Rationalizing the cost structure and passing the benefits to the customers is
playing a crucial role in combating the challenges pertaining to the emerging players and rising costs. Offering a bouquet of
services, developing strategies without compromising the quality of services has been the trademark of World Phone.

GTPL
Hathway
India’s Leading Multi
System Operator and ISP
Over a decade, internet service providers in India
have seen a tremendous growth in offering internet
access to individuals and organizations. Now
consumers are enjoying approximately 40Mbps of internet
speed in various parts of the country compared from the
ages of dial-ups to connectivity of 256Kbps few years back
itself. According to independent research, soon Indian
consumers might have an average broadband speed of up to
100 Mbps. Since, the rapid technological development and
customer demand has inclined to new dimensions in the
industry; people can observe more transformation to be
happened in the days to come.
Currently, one of the leading national players in cable and
broadband business is GTPL Hathway Limited. The
company is serving around nine million active digital
CATV subscribers with its presence in eleven states in close
to over 500 towns across India. It is estimated to serve more
than 290k broadband active subscribers as well. Through its
technology, GTPL has been able to touch the lives of
millions of its customers. The company firmly believes that
business grows only when the customer is delighted. It also
constantly endeavors to provide the best value to its
subscribers for the services they avail.
The Promoters
GTPL was incorporated in August 2006 by its promoters,
Aniruddhasinhji Jadeja and Kanaksinhji Rana through the
consolidation of cable service businesses in Ahmedabad
and Vadodara. In October 2007, Hathway acquired a 50%
share of its business. In the past ten years, the company has
reached newer heights both organically and inorganically
through the expansion of its services, acquisitions and joint
ventures including entering into ‘right to use’ agreements
with several other smaller regional players like MSOs,
LCOs and ISOs.
Aniruddhasinhji Jadeja, the Managing Director and
CEO of GTPL Hathway Limited, is an entrepreneur who
has over 24 years of experience in the cable and broadband
industry. Mr. Jadeja started his career as local cable operator
in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and created GTPL by consolidating
his different cable operations.
In last eleven years, he has been instrumental in expanding
the GTPL’s cable and broadband business to a Pan-India
scale with its quality service to millions of subscribers. Mr.
Jadeja's strategic visions coupled with his collaborative
work methodology are the corner stones for the meteoric
rise of GTPL. This has led the company to become as
India’s one of the fastest growing multi system operator and
broadband service provider. He has been presented an
award of excellence by One Alliance and an award for
social services excellence by Dr. Kamla Beniwal, erstwhile
Governor of Gujarat.
Kanaksinhji Rana is the Executive Director of GTPL
who has been one of the founder members of the
organization. His insightful networking skills have played a
key role in shaping the organization and garnering around
seventy percent market share in Gujarat. He is also actively
involved in successful operations of Gujarat news and other
in-house channels.
Under the leadership of the promoters and through the
company’s technology, GTPL has been able to expand itself
to larger boundaries. The promoters firmly believe that
business grows only when employees grow. The company
constantly endeavors to provide an adequate work
environment to its team members. The pillars of GTPL HR
philosophy are fairness, recognition, integrity and
teamwork.
A Unique Service Proposition
At present, the wireline broadband penetration in India is
about 19 million which is way beyond the developed
countries of America and Europe. However, the growth rate
is estimated to be positive in case of hi-speed broadband
internet user base in rural markets is also expected to
increase close to 52% from current level of 38% by 2021;
Preparing to Face the Challenges
There are certain obstacles that every
company of this sector might be facing
in the coming years. Firstly, since the
user base of wireline broadband
customers in India is expected to reach
around 50 million in the next four
years horizon, which will require a
huge infrastructure and investments.
Therefore, GTPL is encouraging the
new players to enter into the market
which would help in the expansion
process. The new entries can also
create more opportunities for
innovation and quality offerings in the
sector.
Additionally, being the largest private
ISP in Gujarat with its 25000+ KM
long pan-India fiber, its deep rooted
last mile connectivity, wide industry
experience, competent and skilled
workforce and on top of that its pocket
friendly plans, it is well geared-up for
the upcoming competition and
changing market demands.
Secondly, due to the increasing
affordability of high-speed, consistent
broadband connectivity to various parts
of the country, plus wireless internet
has taken a leap in the last couple of
years yet consistent, reliable and
affordable internet is not available for
the masses. GTPL has been trying to
address this gap and meet the
requirements of the masses with plans
starting as low as INR 388 per month
to provide a whooping speed of
40Mbps with unlimited data services.
Future Endeavors of GTPL
Sooner or later, the technological
changes or innovations will be
continuing to act as a data centric, be it
internet of things (IoT), smart homes,
autonomous car, 3D plotting or realtime
streaming. These technologies not
only require high speed data
connectivity but also need an uninterrupted
flow of the same.
To meet this, GTPL is continuously
and consistently investing in latest
technologies, upgrading skill-sets of its
workforce and updating its systems &
processes. More importantly, the
company is expanding its territories of
operations at a parallel pace. With all
these initiatives, GTPL is set to
conquer the market, delight its
customers and bring-up the industry
standards.
From the Leader’s Desk
Talking about the evolution process of
the Internet since its inception, Sanjeev
elaborates upon the distinctive features
that are been passed on to the
consumers. Some of the mentionable
advantages are:
Communication: This is one of the
main reasons for the internet existence.
It has successfully shattered all the
boundaries between people and
countries and made communication an
easy exchange.
Information: This is a huge advantage
of the internet as it provides
meaningful data within a fraction of a
second. Currently, Information has
become more accessible to every
community of the society. The internet
is a one-stop solution to all the issues
and answers every question individuals
are fetching for. The tedious process of
toiling for long hours to find an answer
from the piles of books has come to an
end. As the result, people have become
more educated and drive the
development of the economy of their
country.
Entertainment: This aspect includes
such factors as online games, social
networks and the possibility to watch
films, programs, and TV online while
enjoying listening to music. With such
inherent advancements and a huge
number of pleasant applications, it’s
become easy to find the entertainment
of one’s choice.
Services: Today, everything is just a
“ We focus on
customer delight
and team
empowerment
for the
ultimate success
“
click away as the internet has made
lives easier and comfortable with a
virtual buddy of ordering Online.
Every service is available online which
makes it very convenient and saves the
time of this fast-paced living
environment.
Freelance Fork: This has become the
trend of the present times. People are
getting bored with their monotonous 9-
5 routine and are switching to work
from home/freelancing jobs. There are
plenty of freelancing platforms
available which can offer jobs
according to one’s profession. One can
educate themselves by reading
informative blog posts or watch videos
related to freelancing.
A Broader Vision
be the preferred communication
partner in Pune and eventually
spreading its wings across India. It
believes that it can make a significant
contribution towards a powerful
broadband-enabled India (Make in
India & Digital India). The team at
GBPS Networks Pvt. Ltd focuses on
two aspects that are customer delight
and empowering the team for the
ultimate success.
Nourishing with Time
India is one of the top data
consumption countries when it comes
to wired and wireless connectivity. The
per capita income in India has
increased at a tremendous rate over the
last decade. With such a transformation
and an increase in disposable income,
the lifestyle of the people has
progressively changed a lot. The
demographic change also plays a major
factor in the growth driver of the
industry. As the numbers of young
professionals are increasing, the
demand for the internet is also on the
rise.
As there is a huge demand for
information over the Internet,
integrating fiber-optic communication
is a better option than wireless
communication. Fiber capacity can be
enhanced easily and can be a
successful medium to receive huge
rewards from the market.
Bangalore Broadband Network
Achieving Excellence through Best-in-class
Broadband Internet Services
In India, the access to internet is growing rapidly with
the evolving technology. It has become an integral
part of the nation today. In the last couple of years,
the Broadband providers and ISP’s are playing agile as
well as aggressive roles in securing, peering, and
transforming the internet speeds to an unforgettable
experience. One such enterprise offering extraordinary
broadband internet services across Karnataka is
Bangalore Broadband Network Pvt Ltd (BBNL).
The Inception Story
Established in 2009, as a franchisee with Railtel, BBNL
was unable to withstand the existing market complexities.
Acknowledging the need of high speed broadband in
India, it started to educate the operators regarding the
development and innovations in technology. It also
conducted free classes regarding internet and networking
and geared up the operators to start off internet over their
fiber/co-axial cable infrastructure. In 2011, BBNL set its
foundation amongst the leading 10 Mbps unlimited
broadband internet service in Bangalore. This service was
successfully delivered with a mere cost of Rs 750 along
with a three month free service using existing fiber/co
axial cables. BBNL has travelled a long way from mere 1
or 2 operators in Bangalore to currently spearheading 350
cable operators in Karnataka with a turnover of around 50
crores.
Innovative Services to Hit the
Market
BBNL is amongst the leading Class B
internet service providers delivering a
curated set of free educational internet
services for residential customers with
1 to 10 Mbps speed and 200 gb usage
every month. The company is
introducing a one of its kind Android
TV box with a motive to develop
overall persona of the youth. This will
also help the operators to go an extra
mile and take customer satisfaction to a
new level. A nonprofit free education—
Khan Academy along with a WPS
office suite is also introduced in this
box which will help the teenagers to
sharpen their skills.
The company is planning to lend a
hand towards rural development by
encouraging the college graduates to
set up their own internet businesses. It
will guide them in configuring the
wireless that will help them to
minimize the customer’s internet
issues. The company would also help
them as well as the operators to get
loans from the banks.
”
We provide
unbiased and
good quality
internet services
to the
customers
”
BBNL is working on helping the
households to join hands with the CDN
teams in providing value added
services. It is striving hard with an aim
to deliver prominent cost-effective
internet solutions and helping the
operators to deploy internet to each and
every house in order to help the Indian
economy grow multiple folds.
Today, after eight years, BBNL’s sheer
determination and constant efforts has
successfully established the first open
exchange for cable operators
exclusively at Bangalore. The company
is on a mission to offer customers with
unlimited usage and contribute in free
internet education.
A Unique Organization
With its motto of “achieving
excellence together,” the company
believes in joining hands and educating
people in order to march towards the
success horizons. Its association with
the cable operators helped it to raise
funds, reduce the hardware &
bandwidths cost, and deliver excellent
quality services. The company takes
pride in offering cost effective internet
packages in the market.
In 2016, BBNL launched an internet
package with a speed of 100 mbps and
Environmental Talk
1000 gb usage at a mere cost of Rs
1000. It has also launched a package –
Rs 100 for 10 gb usage and a 3 years
free internet with 1 mbps unlimited
usage for a 1 time payment of Rs 3000.
Today, The company has around 350+
operators who are gearing up to
provide upto 1 gig. At present, BBNL
has successfully consumed 80 gigs of
bandwidth and is amongst the biggest
internet service providers in Karnataka.
Acknowledging the Unsung Heroes
of the ISP Industry
The founder believes that the major
evolution of the ISP industry is due to
the contribution of the operators in this
sector. The internet providers have
accelerated the economy by hiring
potential professionals in the field of
accounts, diploma and even
engineering. Apart from generating a
profitable business outcome, these
people are paying GST of around a
crore every month with TDS of around
twenty lakhs. This phenomenal change
is a major breakthrough which is
boosting the Indian economy. “If the
government recognizes, certifies, gives
certain tax credits and assistance, trust
me you will see a huge jump in the
Internet connection in India so fast
which is never heard off ” says Arun.
Portraying the Future
The company foresees that the small
scale internet service providers need to
join hands with the cable operators and
upgrade their network in order to
withstand the market complexities.
They need to start planning multiple
internet services to quench every single
need of the customer. The company
believes that these ISP’s should invite
CDN teams to provide value added
services.
BBNL is planning to launch free
educational internet services in rural
areas for encouraging the students to
chase their dreams and flourish as
leading entrepreneurs of the future.
language domain names go live
2015: Airtel announces commercial launch
of 4G services PAN-India
numerous applications, seamless and high-speed
connectivity is driving key sectors like e-commerce,
fintech, IT, and media to name a few. With its power to
impact the society at every stage, the internet has evolved
as a 'game-changer' in the Indian sub-continent.
Players Impacting the ISP Market
As the demand for data is crossing the horizons, the battle
for dominance is surging among the established giants,
cable TV operators and the standalone ISP's. As the defacto
gatekeepers of the Internet, ISP’s own the
responsibility of delivering as per their dominance in the
market. Talking about the 4 ISP monsters – Airtel, Jio,
Vodafone, and BSNL – everyone is embracing innovative
technologies to showcase their capabilities and gaining the
maximum market share.
Bharti Airtel holds the edge as the largest Telco in India,
followed by Vodafone, BSNL, and Jio. However as Jio
formally forays into the fibre-based broadband services by
next year, it would quite fascinating to see how much it can
be a challenge to the other Telco’s. Adoption of new
business models among these ISP’s are on a high as the
remarkable growth of the Internet is squeezing the market
and increasing competition. Players in the industry are
crafting strategies to engage the customers and their focus
is to enhance and create a positive appeal for their services.
Fibre Optics: Unveiling the Future of High-Speed Data
As the demand for data increases, traditional broadband
connections would be a technology of the past in the
coming few years. Fibre optics is the latest entry for
transporting high-speed internet and would be a mainstream
reality by next year in India. Fibre optics is the catalyst for
change that is now been encompassed by the Indian ISP’s
that has further opened new windows of exploration in this
area. Comprising of glass pieces that reflect light instead of
electricity, fibre optics are able to transfer a potentially
limitless amount of bandwidth over long distances. The
biggest advantage it offers is the ability to stream highquality
content, upload or download huge data within a
fraction of seconds through a seamless connectivity.
Cloud-based online games are the most preferred choices
when it comes to playing online games. With fibre optics
coming into the picture, playing these online games would
be sheer magic with faster data speeds covering limitless
distances. As fibre optics is disrupting the present and
reshaping the future of data transmission and
telecommunications, the collated efforts made by the Indian
Governance and ISP’s will ensure a brighter future!
Intech Online Private Limited
Connecting India with Digital Revolution
Evolution of Internet service provider (ISP)
industry has come a long way from dial-up
connectivity to high-speed fiber connectivity in
the last few years. Once serving data was the forte of a
selected few and was heavily restricted by providers. But
now it flows freely at breakneck speeds. Issues like
buffering are passed, while streaming is in and Wi-Fi
promises to make this even more accessible. Intech
Online Private Limited is that one brand which made the
digital revolution in India more accessible to every
household.
Anchor of Intech
Amol Nalawade, MD of Intech Online Private Limited is
a first generation entrepreneur who has been a constant
guiding force for the organization. Since he connected his
first Broadband customer, Amol has always embraced
technology as a means to customer satisfaction, striving
constantly to make the organization better for its customer
and team. Amol believes in being a hands-on MD,
learning new technologies first, sometimes even before
his team. Whether it is wireless or fiber, he can engage in
discussions regarding its pro & cons. He believes in
taking his team forward with him and Intech has grown
tremendously in size, he is keyed in with all his teams and
constantly motivates them to do better.
Amol Nalawade
MD
When opportunities for Citywide Wi-Fi networks were in
their nascent stage, Amol took it upon himself to develop
equipment for the same. It results Thane Municipal
Corporation Wi-Fi project; and today the company has
succeeded in creating the first citywide free Wi-Fi
network.
Overcoming Hurdles Effictively
The emerging players are helping the markets to expand
brand is very conscious about their
market status saying “Otherwise we
love competition.”
Calibrate for a Better Connectivity
Intech Online Private Limited is a
company focused on Internet Protocolbased
data services. The entity offers a
plethora of solutions in Internet
Bandwidth, Network Management,
Data Centre Solutions, OFC
connectivity, Application Integration,
Hosting & DDOS protection solutions.
Incorporated in 2000, Intech holds an
ISP license as well as IP level 1 license
for Mumbai, Maharashtra and Goa
circles, and it is an ISO 9001:2008 &
ISO 27001 certified organization.
Some of their services are internet
Connectivity for Broadband &
complexes and city-wide networks,
Data Centre – Hosting, Virtual Servers,
Cloud-based solutions, DDOS
Protection, Application Security
solutions, DNS Infrastructure security
etc, Fibre connectivity solutions and so
on.
The Speedy Progress
The phase between 2001 and 2005 was
the initiation of establishing fiber
network in Thane and today they have
a 100G fiber network to serve the
customers. In 2006 the first network
outside Thane in Airoli was established
and Amol says “Today our network
encompasses areas from Navi Mumbai
to Panvel, Kalyan District, Pune,
Satara, Latur and other parts of
Maharashtra. We have moved out of
Maharashtra into Goa as well.” 2012
was one of the most vital years for the
company as the brand first Peering
with Google for user experience
enhancement and Today we have
believe we will
be able to
harness them
to our advantage
”
peered with all major players including
Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Amazon,
Netflix, and Limelight etc.”
2015 is another promising year as
Intech set up their own Data Centre
with the idea to provide complete
solutions to the corporate customers.
Its data center was recently adjudged
amongst the “Promising DC’s In India’
by Silicon Magazine. The DDOS
protection systems were set up in 2017
and the Application Integration team
has successfully implemented various
projects including the Thane Municipal
Corporation Wi-Fi Project.
It is 2018 and Intech was the
successful bidder for Thane Municipal
Corporation Project for Free Wi-Fi and
Surveillance and have set up its own
Wi-Fi network all over Thane.
Currently more than 300000 users are
using this facility in demo phase.
Inaugurated by Thane Municipal
Commissioner Sanjay Jaiswal, it has
made Thane the first City in India
offering free Wi-Fi services to its
citizens. Intech has also became the
first ISP to offer 100Mbps unlimited
Environmental Talk
connectivity to our users.
Present Market Condition
As India is booming on the digital
front, the Government is also pushing
for the same and its smart city projects
offer tremendous opportunity for
enhancing networks. Broadband is
spreading exponentially and users are
getting used to blazing speeds thanks
to the content being available on
devices today. Amol adds, “We believe
that ISP’s who understand this and
work at keeping their network on top of
everything will be able to get to the
next level. Competition is fierce,
everyone is trying to eye the same pie,
but the competition that creates growth
is good. The captive audience is still
growing rapidly. We believe this is very
good for the industry.”
But connectivity is still a pain-point,
and the Government is trying to
address the same with its Bharatnet
Project and is also helping a lot on
regulations, however, the threat of nonlicensed
connectivity is still very much
alive and needs drastic attention as it is
eating into the revenues of taxpaying
license holders.
The Future with a Vision
The future is bright to concentrate on
the networks. Capabilities have to be
enhanced to handle competition. “We
are now working actively at content
aggregation and at our corporate
offerings as customers are best poised
to take maximum advantage of our
redundant fiber network. We can offer
good uptimes, robust connectivity and
DDOS protection is the cherry on the
cake. Our data center is also gearing
up for the next level. We intend to use
our expertise in Wi-Fi to garner more
mileage in the Internet domain,” adds
Amol.
Interview With Insights Success
Esto
Internet
A Progressive Organization
Esto Internet is one of the
leading providers of
Information Technology
services and business solutions. It has a
global delivery platform that supports
an onsite/offshore model that meets
client’s needs 24/7.
Rahul Makhija, Co-founder at Esto
Internet spoke to Insight Success and
highlighted some of the trends and
strategies they have incorporated in
their splendid journey spanning over a
decade.
Kindly brief us about the company –
inception and the overall journey to
date.
Esto Internet, with its inception in
2009, launched their services in a small
town of Himachal Pradesh. And today
after about 9 years, we have operations
spread across India. Both of the
founders are very well experienced
entrepreneurs in their respective Field,
Mr Manish having experience of over
2 decades in business management,
while Mr Rahul being very well
profound in technical aspect with
experience of about 12 years inThe
same field of computers & IP networks
including internet connectivity. Under
the Leadership of the founders, the
company has grown to be one of the
fastest growing Internet service
providers.
Please tell us something about your
Founder/CEO and his/her
contribution towards the company
and the industry.
Mr. Manish Makhija and Rahul
Makhija have more than 14 years of
experience in this Industry and have
seen all small to big changes in this
Industry. With their knowledge and
experience Esto Internet today has
presence all over India now.
Kindly talk about the ISP services
and your strengths and capabilities
in this domain.
As the name describes, Internet Service
Provider, we do not sell anything to the
customer. And as an ISP our job is to
connect the customers to the Internet
and maintain the connection in a
layman’s language. But technically
there are a lot of things going on in the
background to keep that connection up
& running. Every single day the
technology is also evolving. And that’s
where we stand out; we’re very agile in
that context. We always ensure that our
customers have the best experience
possible in terms of available
technologies in the market. And as a
result of that we’re able to deliver
services that are not possible on other
networks, at-least for a while, until the
rest of the market adopts the latest
technology, and in the meanwhile
we’re working on the next. For
example in the FTTH (Fiber to The
Home) is quite new to most of the
people in India. Today all ISPs are
working on upgrading their network to
FTTH, while we’ve started the same
process almost 5 Years ago.
What is your viewpoint regarding
the present scenario of ISP industry
in India?
The ISP industry is going to
32
completely change not too far in the
future. Unlike today, internet access
will not be limited to Mobile phones &
computers only. Recently, there’s been
a bump in the Smart TV segment.
We’ve indeed already entered into the
era of “Internet of Things” where
everything including your vehicles
(cars, trucks), lights, air conditioners &
what not, are connected to the internet.
The concept is not that widespread yet,
but it won’t take much long to
propagate. And then, the bandwidth
requirement will multifold in
comparison to todays. And we’re ready
to chase that.
Kindly describe in detail about your
distinct services and products.
We at Esto, believe that healthy
competition is always better for the
market overall. Its beneficial for
consumers as well as the providers. We
believe that Internet, have become an
essential part of life and everyone
should have access to it. With that
vision in mind, we always try to offer
our customers with best possible
services for cheapest possible price. To
let you know, we’ve recently rolled out
city wide public WiFi hotspots in
Panchkula, Haryana. Where we’ve
covered 14 public places of the city
including markets, gardens & stadium
etc. And we’ve not charged anything
neither from the corporation nor from
the users. Everything is on us. We
always try to come up with as flexible
as possible modes of services. Our
recently launched prepaid model
follows the same footsteps.
How the ISP industry has evolved
over the last decade? How does the
introduction of the internet,
broadband, Wi-Fi, etc. has changed
the industry?
The evolution is happening at a rapid
pace. And a lot have changed over the
decade. If we look back exactly 10
years from today, if you wanted a
16Mbps of internet connection, it
wasn’t possible. And today after 10
years companies are offering 1Gbps of
internet. That is over 62 times faster
than that. That’s about wireline
broadband. And even in the mobile
data industry we were operating on 2G
in 2008, which on paper have a
maximum speed of 50Kbps. And now
after 10 days we’re not far aways from
launching 5G, which is capable of
providing multiple Gbps of bandwidth
to mobile users. And the Internet has
not changed any particular industry,
but all of them. Internet has played a
key role in evolution of the world.
How are you fighting the challenges
in terms of emerging market players
and competitive costs?
We do not see any Challenges as such
In Fact the new requirements are
making it more interesting for us. In
other words, today, Every Customer
has their particular requirements its
challenging in a way to fulfill and meet
Customer expectations and resolving
the same is indeed a pleasure.
Is there any specific area which you are
trying to concentrate in the ISP
industry? Or, have you identified any
gaps in the industry which you intend
to fill in with your services.
We are fully concentrated on making
ourselves technically strong and
matching International standards of
global service providers. Our Focus is
on delivering what we commit.
What is the USP of your business?
Key features and highlights.
The main USP of ESTO is we are
technically strong unlike any other ISP
we believe in providing the complete
technical support to our clients 24x7 ,
We have Ring protected network
throughout India and Incomparable
service quality.
Kindly share us with your Vision
and Mission of your organization.
Vision: Our Vision is to create a
progressive organization matching
International Standards maintaining
Integrity, High Ethical Standards and
Transparency. Provide an environment
of professionalism, competence,
teamwork, and service excellence. We
have started with an objective to be the
most dependable organization,
providing impeccable service,
premium products and comprehensive
solutions to the customers.
Mission: Our Mission is to bring
quality services & solution
implementation of international
standards, comparable with global
service providers within the reach of
all. We are committed to achieving
excellence in communication
development, for SMEs to large
Enterprises.
How do you portray the future of
ISP industry and how do you plan to
embrace the change?
Future of ISP Industry is really very
strong as India is growing digitally
hence India will experience Internet
even in the smallest town. We shall be
learning more, developing more and of
course growing more and it sounds
really exciting. We feel glad to be a
part of this fastest changing Industry.
The Stance and
Revolution of the
ISP Companies
n this fast paced world companies
Iare constantly striving to cater the
needs of mankind. According to
the saying “Rome was not built in a
day”, it imparts that to achieve
something significant it takes a lot of
time. It’s a prolonged journey to build
a company as a set of prevailing
elements are associated with it.
The ISP Sector is one such category
which needs to study various aspects
before establishing an ISP Company.
These ISP Companies are moderately
working using innovative ideas for
development. It is imperative for these
companies to maintain its position in
the on-going business circle and also
keep moving ahead. The growing
awareness, easy accessibility and the
changing lifestyles are the key drivers
of growth for companies.
A Comprehensive Vision
India has seen a diverse increase in the
number of internet users in the last
decade. As people are becoming more
aware about the changing lifestyles,
they are growing more attentive about
the current happenings. In the world of
Internet, new ideas and innovations are
like a routine, adapting these
modifications overtime and
incorporating it is the need of the hour.
Ever wondered what would it be like
living in a world of no Internet? Well
just the thought of this is unnerving,
that's the impact internet has left in
one’s lives. A developing country like
India is also rapidly becoming a digital
nation. According to a survey
conducted, India has the highest yearly
growth rate and has the third largest
number of internet users globally.
With such impeccable stats the Internet
Service Providers have top their game
and emerged with their top-notch
services. The companies have
considerably increased its outreach by
providing convenient and costeffective
internet plans for the people.
Effectively Tackling Challenges
An emerging set of businesses are
looking forward to enter or expand
their businesses in the ISP sector. For
the emerging players, lie a number of
challenges like building efficient
infrastructure, offering significant
commitment to new customers and
also associating a substantial cost with
services. Some of the infrastructural
challenges include managing a large
subscriber base, dealing with operation
and management, and service
provisioning.
One of the key challenges in the ISP
sector is delivering reliable and
consistent services in the fast-moving
market. Consumers are always looking
for an overall project success which is
suitable for them in all aspects of
quality and quantity. Another big
challenge lying on the way is the cost
of the services. Most of the services in
the ISP market require a large amount
of time and effort, and also a
considerable initial investment and ongoing
support costs. These costs
include recruiting, retaining qualified
technical and management staff,
purchasing foremost hardware,
36
September 2018|

Tech Forum
software and additional costs. Keeping the operating costs low and customer satisfaction high are equally complex and
challenging issue.
Productivity is also one of the greatest challenges faced by the ISP sector and the perception of many ISPs is that increasing
the number of subscribers is essential for enhancing the bottom-line of profit. The ISPs seeking to increase revenues
understand that they must extend their service offerings beyond providing internet access and basic services alone. According
to a survey, 84% of the ISPs stated that they generate additional revenue from services other than Internet access.
With such modifications the ISP companies are marketing add-on services to current subscribers rather than spending large
investments to attract new subscribers, because it is much more cost-effective. Providing the customers with such valueadded
services can produce higher profit margins for services sold to current subscribers.
Internet Enabled Future
The best possible way to go forward is efficiently overcoming the challenges to create a suitable roadmap that will
guide and help each ISP to achieve its objectives. Helping the ISP sector along the way is the Government of India,
which has also taken effective measures to integrate policies and regulations.
It is continuing to build momentum in generating new policies to drive the growth of Internet adaption and support
the upcoming internet businesses. Be it broadband spectrum, internet availability, data protection and cyber security
everything has changed. The things that were applicable for these fields are no longer relevant in today’s context; hence new
policies need to be advanced accordingly to the future times. Being well aware of India’s challenges it is also figuring out
ways to mitigate those challenges.
The aim is to create a sustainable environment of public-private partnership where the ultimate recipients are the citizens of
India. The ISP companies must embrace and safeguard its stature in the Internet market. To ensure this, these companies have
to pull up their socks by picking right roles at the right time. At every step ahead these companies need to come up with
strong strategy planning and keep their resources intact.
Access to
High Speed Internet
Impacting the Economy
Is this true? Is something as industry specific
especially high Tech sounding so important for
economic growth. Many studies have been done,
mostly in the western world, and it has been shown that
High Speed Internet has a direct and a significant impact
on the economy of the country.
Let’s have a quick look how?
Direct Impact:
The Technology industry itself has benefitted
significantly from the advent of High Speed broadband.
Here is how:
• The Indian IT industry grew by leaps and bounds in
the 90’s and the last decade. However, the growth
engine has slowed down a bit now. Besides other
reasons, one of the reasons is tightening visa and
immigration regimes of the developed world. Travel
across the seas is becoming tougher and cost ineffective.
High Speed Broadband has enabled the
industry to provide the same services to its clients
across the world without the hassle of physical travel.
• The Broadband industry has been an integral part of
the communication revolution in India. Add up the
growth of all the Telecom companies in India, their
growth, the employees engaged in them and you
would see the game changer it has been.
• In fact, if you add up the IT and Communications
companies revenue in India, it is a significant part of
India’s GDP.
Indirect Impact:
E-Commerce globally is estimated to be around 5 % of
total commerce around the world.
What has enabled it? Would you think that dial-up
modems and the old style of bandwidth could have made
it possible? I am sure your answer is the same as
mine…never.
Now, start extending this data further, who sells on the
Internet, mostly small and medium sized B2C companies
who cannot afford to have long supply chains and
distribution channels. In other words, because of High
Speed Internet, E-commerce has succeeded and because
of the success of E-Commerce, lot of small businesses
has spawned, and further due to the spawning of lot of
internet based small business lot of jobs, lot of income
has gotten created.
Can there be a better example of how high speed
broadband is changing the lives of million and millions
of people.
Socio-Economic Impact:
No discussion on this can be completed without talking
about the socio-economic of the broadband.
Think about what are the key problems of a country like
India…non-existent employment opportunities in rural
areas, limited opportunities for good quality education in
rural areas, workers engaged in making goods (sold as
“ethnic” items at premium prices in the big cities) etc.
The above is leading to a massive rural urban migration.
Making unmanageable urban infrastructure even more
unmanageable. The data suggests that Delhi, which
bursting at its seams, has grown mostly due to this
migration rather than the growth in population.
Now, what does this have to do with High Speed
Broadband, simple….if India has High Speed Internet
Broadband in rural areas; one need not come to Cities to
find jobs.
First of all, we all know now that on-line education is
changing the Education as a social function. Today, class
rooms are desirable but not mandatory for learning.
A young man living in rural UP can learn at least 70-80
% of what he/she could have learnt if he has taken the
painful task of migrating to a big, unfamiliar town like
Delhi.
Now, finally, this discussion cannot end without the role
Govt and Pvt. Industry can play in making High Speed
Broadband a Ubiquitous thing.
There are umpteen examples in US, UK and Europe
where Govt. and Pvt Sector companies have tied up to
create High Speed Broadband in semi-rural and rural
areas.
There are numerous studies which have also shown that
this has helped in socio-economic development of these
areas.
Need we say more.
Let me end this by giving you an interesting piece of
statistics.
Globally, studies have shown that High Speed
Broadband impacts more that 0.5 % of the country’s
GDP. It may sound like a small % but try to take
countries GDP, and convert into money numbers and one
would see how much it matters.
India’s GDP is 2.26 trillion USD, 0.5 % of this is makes
it 14000000000 USD. Try converting this into a speak
able number…..
This is the estimated impact of an all-pervasive High
Speed Internet to an economy.
Does one still need to think about it?
Today, via the help of many sincere NGO’s, many rural
workers can sell their good via internet and earn their
living while living in their homes.
Real Internet Speed
specialty certifications under his belt
like MSCE, CCNP, MCITP and ITIL.
His sheer contribution and dedicatedself
has successfully led the company
in providing remarkable services in the
ISP field and making it the company’s
core business. Helping him along the
way is Dr. Tanveer Fatima, Director,
who looks after the strategic decisions
of the company to ensure its smooth
and stable working.
An Excellent Service Provider
Kenstar Web Solutions has installed
twenty-seven towers on an average in
each city to offer its services. These
towers are connected through fiber
optic in Ring Route, which ensures in
case if one fiber to the tower is cut then
the other route gets online and if both
the fiber cable gets cut off then its
network is still live on wireless APs
and Station. This guarantees that in any
situation there is no interruption to the
service at the customer end.
The USP of the company is its security
and privacy of the computer and user.
The customers often fall prey to cheap
plans by local ISP’s that are created in
a LAN environment and their devices
are vulnerable to be hacked. The
company has integrated effective
measures to ensure that the data
communicated from the customer’s
computer or device is secure and
encrypted and it’s only communicating
with the main server and not visible or
accessible to other subscribes.
Tackling the Challenges Effectively
The market is constantly flooded with
emerging players and the competition
in the industry is also increasing day
by day. With changing times a drastic
transformation can be seen in the
internet plans, the Giga fiber plans are
”
We are
committed of
providing our
clients with
High Speed
Internet connectivity
and Stable
”
seen in many developing or developed
cities in India. In the survival of the
fittest race, customers are the biggest
assets and one can’t afford to lose
customers in this huge competitive
battle. In order to surpass competition
and create a benchmark in this
industry, one of the most important
aspects is customer satisfaction and
retention and that’s possible by
providing top-notch service offerings.
Kenstar Web Solutions believes in
offering services in a personalized
manner by customizing the internet
plans in a cost-effective way. It also
extends the internet plans of its
customers in case of any
inconvenience regarding internet
services.
An Overview of the ISP Sector
The ISP sector has come a long way
and has experienced a massive
transformation with prompt responses
over the last decade. From 32 kbps
Environmental Talk
dial-up service plan on copper phone
lines in the year 1998 at 500 rupees per
month for 30 hours to having 50 mbps
plans in the same rate with more data
usage, the industry has completely
transformed. Technology has played a
major role in the ISP sector.
The import duties on technological
equipment were reduced and this
helped Indian companies to take
advantage on acquiring trending
equipment’s. Also, the cost of the
wireless devices was reduced and this
turned out to be a great help of
bringing a huge change by
implementing various Wi-Fi projects in
many cities and towns.
An Existing Picture of the ISP
Industry
The present scenario of the ISP
Industry looks very promising and
filled with new opportunities. As 85%
of the Indian population still isn’t
connected to fast broadband services,
this ensures that there is a huge
potential in this market. With the prices
of the internet services going
decreasing day by day, it attracts new
customers to get connected to internet
by the means of broadband services.
Strengthening with Time
The future of the ISP industry looks
good but is challenging as the profit
margin is decreasing and maintenance
cost has increased. The company plans
to introduce Internet Protocol
television (IPTV) services soon with
the option to get a telephone along
with it. “I am sure, whatever change
that will come to the technology, it will
be for good “concludes Javeed.
