A hawk’s eye view
Adventure and nature
2 days - 1 night AM Upon request
For over a century, the stars have made up a fundamental
part of Inca life. Not only they were considered deities, but
these shining entities also served to inspire and guide the
construction of temples and cities across the empire. The
Incas were expert astronomers and they gave meaning to
each constellation, making each one a part of their history and
cultural legacy.
One of the greatest pleasures of visiting Cusco is being able to
enjoy that same, starry sky. On clear evenings, the moonlight
reflects on the snow-capped peaks and the sky shines extra
bright with the light of thousands of stars spayed across the
black background. Can you imagine falling asleep to that fantastic
and privileged image with the Urubamba River steadily flowing
beneath you?
Skylodge is an extraordinary lodging located only 15 minutes
from the town of Ollantaytambo. This incredible hotel – although
not for the faint of heart – boasts transparent pods that securely
hang on a cliffside 400 meters over the Sacred Valley. Each pod
contains everything one might desire for a comfortable and
memorable stay: a room, a bathroom, and a dining room in
which you can enjoy a gourmet dinner under the moonlight and
a hearty breakfast with a stunning view of the valley below.
To reach the lodge, one must brace themselves for a good
adrenaline rush and ascend the cliffside via a path of iron rings
encrusted into the rock called Via Ferrata. Finish your visit as
it began, and prepare for the greatest rush of all: fly down the
mountain on a series of seven zip lines that take you 2,800 meters
back down to the valley. An unforgettable experience for sure.
