LUXURY
THAT HELPS
Sol y Luna Hotel
Sol y Luna Hotel
Located in the heart of the Sacred Valley, this hotel combines
art, tradition, and wellness. During your stay at the Sol y Luna,
enjoy a luxury experience while simultaneously contributing
to the education of local children in surrounding Cusco
communities.
The hotel’s 43 casitas, or bungalows, are surrounded by
splendid gardens perfect for wandering through as you learn
about Andean flora. Each cottage is made from local materials,
and all offer spectacular views of the nearby mountains,
inevitably connecting guests with the spirits of the Inca deities.
The casitas are decorated with Peruvian culture in mind:
textiles hang on the walls, colonial furniture marks each space,
and the sheets are made from Peruvian cotton. Nonetheless,
the most noteworthy aspect of each suite is the personalised
mural inspired by the surrounding valley.
Like other hotels in the Sacred Valley, the Sol y Luna works
hand in hand with local farmers, obtaining the freshest
products possible. The hotel’s gourmet cuisine reclaims some
of the Andean culinary traditions; its menu is notably refined
and its kitchen staff is well trained by the renowned chef Pedro
Miguel Schiaffino. Both restaurants, KillaWasi and Wayra, are
boldly decorated with sculptures and bright coloured murals –
all of which are produced by national artists.
Those who stay at the Sol y Luna contribute to the education
of the local children who attend the Intercultural Sol y Luna
School, established and run by the Sol y Luna Civil Association.
Along with the school, the Association maintains a temporary
lodging for those children who come from remote villages,
giving them the chance to avoid endless treks to and from
school, and providing an ideal learning environment.
