INTERVIEW
Thanks to tourism, the Huilloc community has
experienced improvements in their quality of life.
LimaTours
ONE OF THIS YEAR’S MILESTONES HAS BEEN A COMPLETE
INTERNAL RESTRUCTURING. WHY WAS THIS DONE?
Jose: It precisely has to do with processes. We realised that –
with the way that we were structured – there was an overlap of
operations. With these changes, we are looking to make sure our
people spend their time doing what they have to do, rather than
wasting time on other tasks that limit productivity and efficiency.
Another important point is that it permits the specialisation and
standardisation in the workplace: there were areas that worked
in different ways besides having the same function, but there was
no clear line of work. This is going to change to benefit the whole
Our
specialised
guides offer
the best
assistance for
tourists.
LimaTours
LimaTours team, as well as our clients.
concern for conservation. Thus, we make an effort to transmit
those values to those around us so that they are moved to do the
same in their private environments.
When it comes to social responsibility, we work with the Huilloc
Community, and on the Plan Wallata in Ollantaytambo, Cusco. We
hope to help them recognise the value of their traditions and the
potential these have as sustainable development opportunities,
and – through that – strengthen their sense of identity and
better their life quality. I think that in this globalised world, where
everything is made to be the same, Peru can be an example of
something different thanks to its historical, cultural, natural, and
gastronomic elements – all of which come together and make it
shine as a destination worthy of a visit.
LimaTours
WE AS A BUSINESS ARE CONCERNED ABOUT SOCIAL
RESPONSIBILITY AND ARE COMMITTED TO THE
COMMUNITIES AND THE ENVIRONMENT. WHY IS THIS SO
IMPORTANT TO US?
Jose: The environmental issue is fundamental. We are certified
by Rainforest Alliance and we practice eco-consciousness in the
office and our operations – reducing our use of paper and plastic,
and being aware of the traceability of the waste we generate. We
would like all who collaborate with LimaTours to have the same
Visitors and Huilloc community members
sharing an experiential tourism activity.
