THE SACRED
VALLEY ON WHEELS
Nature, health & wellness
4 hours AM Upon request
There are always unique ways to experience Cusco that
provide lesser-known perspectives from which to absorb
what this Imperial city has to offer. How about an adventure
through the Sacred Valley of the Incas on an electric bicycle?
Formerly the heart of the Inca Empire, the Sacred Valley
continues to house an impressive agricultural world, as well
as a vast array of incredible Inca archaeological sites. From
monumental fortresses to Inca villages that maintain their
traditions to this day, the Valley is an unmissable destination
for all who come to Cusco. The perfect combination of nature,
history, and culture.
After refuelling at the chicheria, continue to the town of Pachar,
home of the Cerveceria del Valle (Sacred Valley Brewery). Here,
local ingredients are used to produce interesting and tasty
varieties of artisanal beer. This project not only yields a highquality
beverage, but it also contributes to the development
of local communities through activities and donations, and
without generating an impact on the local environment.
Cheers to that!
Hop on an electric bicycle and experience the symbiosis of the
modern and the traditional. Follow a 30 kilometre-long route
across agricultural fields and paths, passing through villages
and cities, with the steady murmuring of the river as your
soundtrack. Stop into a traditional chicheria where you will
have the chance to enjoy this ancestral, corn-based beverage
– prepared and sold on site.
Recognised as part of Peru’s cultural heritage, chicha is
one of Latin America’s oldest traditional beverages. Made
from fermented corn, chicha was traditionally enjoyed by
Inca nobility and considered an essential part of religious
ceremonies as an offering to the gods. Today, chicha is often
used in local gastronomy as an ingredient in some of the
regional dishes served in traditional ‘picanterias’.
