Henham Park
FESTIVAL OF RUNNING...
Henham Park to play host
to Festival of Running
event in 2019...
Henham Park, the home of
the Latitude Festival and the
Henham Steam Rally, is to
add a running festival to its
portfolio of events, as the
inaugural Henham Park Festival
of Running is announced for
May 2019.
The event has been put
together by local organisers
who have been encouraged by
the popularity of running and
would like to see more sporting
participation events happening
in and around North Suffolk.
While the focus of the event will
be on running, there will also be
yoga sessions from Sarah Rous,
sporting equipment stands and
many other lifestyle features
available on the day. The event
is being held
at Henham
Park, but has
been organised
independently
of the owners of
the estate.
The organisers
have announced
they are supporting mental
health charity, Norwich and
Central Norfolk Mind, and will
donate 10 per cent of profits
from the event to the charity as
well as encouraging participants
to raise money through their
individual run.
Henham Park Festival of
Running will combine three
race distances, a 10k trail run,
a 5k trail run and a 1k Fun Run
around the lake. All of the
courses will end up crossing
the finish line over the iconic
bridge. The course winds
through glades and past the
hall before crossing the tape
by the lake, where the main
festival base will be. There will
be prizes for winners in different
age categories, which will be
given out at the presentation
following the races and
accurately recorded through
chip timing. Unlike other races,
the event will be more than just
running with local musicians
and food stalls as well as a
bar. Participants are invited to
bring their families too as the
1k Fun Run around the lake will
take place after the 10k and 5k
races have finished. Dogs are
also allowed in the main festival
base but cannot accompany
participants on their run.
Marketing Coordinator, Gareth
Samuel, said: “I grew up just
down the road and obviously
it’s a beautiful part of the world
where we are lucky to live.
So when we went to Latitude
Festival earlier this year we
realised the park is a particularly
stunning place to hold a running
event. We also wanted to add a
bit more to the races, like music
and food stalls, to keep people
entertained and help maintain
that great feeling you get when
you finish.”
Registrations are now open for
this event and participants have
the opportunity to purchase a
technical running t-shirt and
add 1k Fun Run entries to their
orders at the same time. Visit
co.uk to find out more.
