Book
FrogAsia’s World Book Month is just around the corner,
so we thought it would be fun to learn how to do simple
bookbinding! It’s an easy art and craft idea that can be
used to make presents.
YOU’LL NEED
A4 patterned paper x 1
A4 plain paper x 10
A hole puncher x 1
A blade x 1
1.5 meter coloured string x 1
Ruler x 1
Stickers (optional)
Just follow the 5 steps below!

Fold!
Fold the A4 patterned paper
down the middle and use the
blade to cut it in half. Do the
same for the A4 plain paper
and make 20 A5-sized pieces
in total. Use a ruler to help you
get straight line cuts.
Put Together!
Sandwich your plain paper in
between your patterned paper.
Make sure the patterns are
always facing the outside.
Then stack it together so that
all papers are aligned on the
side that you will be binding.
Make holes!
Using a hole puncher, punch
holes through the papers on
the side that you will be
binding. Make sure your holes
are evenly spaced apart.

Tie up!
Thread your string through the
first hole at the corner and tie a
small knot. Using the longer end
of the string, start weaving
through each hole as shown in
the photo. Tie a knot to secure
the string. Cut off any loose ends.
Decorate!
This part is entirely up to
you. You can draw patterns
on it, leave it plain, or fill it
with colourful stickers just
like we did!
