What if you could change the world
simply by doing what you love?
Be it dancing, running, baking, or even
painting! Last year, a few schools
around the country decided to do just
that, after being inspired by worldrecord
athlete, Julia Immonen and her
45-day row across the Atlantic ocean
to raise global awareness on human
trafficking.
Following Julia’s campaign title
#RowForFreedom, each school chose a
#ForFreedom project that would
contribute to helping others in need -
whether its simply raising awareness
on social injustice or directly raising
funds towards its cause.
SMK KIARAMAS
A"Free Market Day" where
two orphanages were
invited to ‘shop for free’!
The students collected
items, raised and donated
RM2400.00 for them, and
also cooked food for the
event.
SMK SERI BINTANG
UTARA
A 500m awareness walk and a
day full of games to remind
students that not every child
has the freedom to play safely. All
participating students shared their
thoughts about human trafficking and
what they’ve learnt throughout
this awareness day.
SK KARAK
A sports day that gave
special needs students and
typical students the chance
to learn how to play and
work together.
An awareness campaign educating
other students on how to deal with
bullying. It also involved a car wash,
selling t-shirts and buttons, as well as a
talk session with police. They also visited
other schools to talk about how they can
also be bully-free schools.
#EducationForFreedom
SMK ASSUNTA
A voluntary tutoring program where
students took turns in groups to tutor
children from the Agathians Shelter
every two weeks. They held art and
reading sessions for these primary
school-aged children that helped
encourage creativity and improve
literacy.
“If not now, then when?
If not you, then who?”
Do you have an idea for a #ForFreedom project? Gather some
friends or people in your school to do it and tell us all about it by
