CAMPING<br />
People who like to sleep under the stars will find a range<br />
of camping options, from county-owned land to state and<br />
national forests, as well as privately owned and operated<br />
campgrounds. Options include backcountry wilderness<br />
campsites and campgrounds with a full range of amenities,<br />
from single sites to larger campgrounds with more than 75<br />
sites. In addition to several canoe camping sites along the<br />
Wisconsin River, <strong>Vilas</strong> <strong>County</strong> has recently developed and<br />

TORCH LAKE CAMPGROUND AND RV PARK<br />

Discover a campground that is perfect for families with<br />
a travel trailer, RV or tent. This campground is located<br />
on 39-acre Torch Lake, offering a beautiful backdrop for<br />
your camping adventure. Here, you’re just a short walk<br />
from the beach, giving you easy access to an afternoon<br />
of relaxation on the water and a front row seat to a<br />
fabulous Northwoods sunset.<br />
The campground offers modern amenities such as water,<br />
electric, flush toilets, showers, dumping station and WiFi.<br />
Take advantage of the picnic area featuring horseshoe pits<br />
and tables, so you can have a fun, leisurely day without<br />
leaving the campground. Anglers can go after the largemouth<br />
bass that are common in the lake. Bring your<br />
four-wheeler—the campground has direct access to the<br />
<strong>Vilas</strong> <strong>County</strong> ATV/UTV trail system.<br />
TAMARACK SPRINGS CAMPGROUND<br />

Unplug and escape to this beautifully rustic campground.<br />
Tamarack Creek, which anchors this picturesque campground,<br />
winds throughout the area and provides a tranquil soundtrack<br />
to your camping getaway. Fall asleep to the sound of the<br />
bubbling creek, and in the morning, grab your gear and<br />
fish this top-notch trout stream.<br />
The campground accommodates tents and small trailers,<br />
featuring a campground host and nine sites spread along<br />
both sides of the creek—six on the north side and three<br />
on the south side.<br />

Nothing better than hours spent bent over picking delicious wild<br />
blueberries; worth every back-breaking minute when you serve<br />
them over your morning oatmeal or better yet, serving up that<br />
first delicious piece of wild blueberry pie. There’s NOTHING like it!<br />
RIVER ROAD EQUESTRIAN CAMPGROUND<br />

The River Road Equestrian Campground is an equestrian’s<br />
perfect retreat. Connectivity with three horseback riding<br />
trails makes this campground an excellent hub for exploring<br />
<strong>Vilas</strong> <strong>County</strong>. Enjoy a relaxing night of camping before heading<br />
out for a day of tranquil riding through the area’s winding<br />
paths and lush forests. Then at the end of the day, refresh<br />
and recharge at this unique campground that accommodates<br />
your equestrian friend. You’ll feel right at home.<br />
River Road is the only campground of its kind in <strong>Vilas</strong> <strong>County</strong>.<br />
It’s located at the trailhead of the Torch Lake equestrian<br />
loop, which provides access to over 19 miles of well-marked<br />
trails. The loop includes the Torch Lake Trails, Ski Hill Trails<br />
and the Pioneer Creek Trail. You can ride to Conover and find<br />
dining spots that have hitching posts outside.<br />
