PUBLIC BUS SERVICES IN VALENCIA
Taking buses around Valencia will offer you the opportunity to get
around the city whilst seeing the sights as you travel. It is important to
remember that when you are taking the bus you will need to be
reasonably independent - you will not necessarily know when you need
to get off the bus so it can be more intimidating than catching the metro.
ARTS & MUSIC
If you decide to travel by bus, it is worth considering buying combined
tickets that will allow you to take the bus as well as the tram and the
metro (see below for more details). The options include the Valencia
tourist card or the Integrated Transport Ticket.
Bus ticket prices:
Single journey: €1.50
Valencia Card: For full details, see our Valencia Tourist Card page.
Integrated Transport Ticket: For the various combined ticket options,
these occasions there is generally a tram that takes its place.
TUIN TRAVEL CITY CARD
What is TuiN card?
The TuiN card is a smart, single travel card for travel throughout the Metrovalencia network with additional
advantages.
How to charge it?
It can be charged onto any contactless travel card (TSC) valid for the Metrovalencia network. In the future, it may
also be charged on an NFC telephone and external sales networks.
If you already own a TSC, you can charge it when the current balance runs out. Otherwise, you may purchase it
pre-charged at the price set by FGV.
Where to purchase it?
Nowadays, you can charge it at Metrovalencia Customer Service Centres (CAC) and Customer Service Kiosks,
where we will register your information to ensure you receive all of the advantages and help you resolve any
possible incidences. You can also recharge your card at any ticket vending machine within the Metrovalencia
network.
As of April 2015, you can charge cards directly at ticket vending machines, although we still recommend you
register at our customer service centres or online to receive all of the advantages that we offer (balance
reimbursement in case of loss or theft, recharging your card online, etc.).
Can I charge a new ticket if I still have journeys left from another ticket?
No. You must use your journeys before, then you can charge a new ticket.
What does it cost?
You can acquire the ticket by charging a minimum balance of 10 € on your card, and additional multiples of 1 € (you
may not charge cents).
When you want to recharge your card balance, the minimum amount is also 10 € (and additional multiples of 1 €).
How much does each journey cost?
Once your card is charged, the price of each journey with the TuiN card is the same as a Bonometro:
ART CLASSES
LLIRIA
BUDDING ARTISTS
IN FULL BLOOM.
On the 19th October, an invitation was sent to
whichever angle we were sat at. With lots of
various people asking if they would be
interested in joining a still life art class. This
encouragement from Chez, explanations, and tips
we all had a go, some better than others. The next
invitation was sent from Chez who was
class, an option of still life objects, the class was
kindly offering to start a group of ‘ budding
much more focused, and concentration was high.
artists’.
Many thought it was hard, but compared to week 1,
We were sent the message –“I'm hoping that all of
a lot of improvement. Each week we are set
homework, and already have a go.
you will get something out of this little Group,
whether it's new friendships, to learning a new skill
Week 3, not charcoal, now chalk and black paper! Oh
and maybe, getting commissions! (we can all dream,
right?)”
boy, this is different! Draw a bottle, oh yes easy! – not,
Many varied shapes and sizes, but after a brilliant
demonstration from Chez, little miracles were
A total of 14 are now members of the group, and
although not everyone can attend every week the
happening! We are constantly told it's just lined on
paper, not difficult!
attendance is going well.
The 24th October saw the first group meeting. Some
A bigger challenge was given for homework, as we
were all given a specific drawing to ‘interpret‘. Each
of us knew maybe one or two of the others, but that
was all, and so the introductions started. One or two
and every one of the group excelled with full marks
people already enjoyed drawing or painting but only
for effort. The following week and continuing with
in 1 medium, while many hadn’t done any sort of art
chalk we had to draw a glass of water, easy you say,
since school. The rest were complete novices. All
but oh no!
with a common goal, to enjoy themselves, meet new
people and learn something new.
Through all this, the group is making great friends,
sharing tips, laughing a lot and definitely improving,
And so the fun started, and the challenges. We were
although many cannot see it. The concentration
told to bring white paper and Charcoal, little did we
each week is mounting, but so is the enjoyment.
know the challenges ahead. The first challenge to
draw an egg cup and a cast of a face, from

Sadly, we live in a material world and a disposable one at that. The skills people had in the past of making things to last is slowly
disappearing only to be replaced by man-made materials mixed with chemicals that we can't get rid of whatever we do and end up
making our oceans vomit, our air choke and the earth cry.
Gradually, we are waking up and beginning to take steps to slow down if not stop this abuse of nature.
Every little helps, bit by bit we can make a difference.
This has also encouraged the already widening gap of the class division. (The rich get richer and the poor get poorer). Those living
in this rich (resources) world who were already struggling to make ends meet are being pushed further and further down the line
because not enough of us are willing to share.
This project is a step towards addressing a few of the many challenges for those living on or below the
poverty line who face these challenges daily.
All household items that are donated to this cause are freely available for those in need without the means to purchase them.
I will go as far as to set a challenge for you to walk around your property and not find at least one item you
no longer need or want and can donate.
Please if you can donate to this cause you will help it grow and reach more of those in real need.
If you know anyone in a situation who may benefit from this service, please refer them to us, through Facebook if they have a way
to connect or through your kind heart.
THIS FASCINATING NEWS, I JUST FELT COMPELLED TO DIG A LITTLE BIT
ABOUT
DEEPER AND LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS INTRIGUING STORY.

Christine Teyssier Now based in
Lliria,Valencia
for me! I was taking three or four dancing lessons a day. I
said to myself that I would be successful, I kept on
repeating it to myself and I really wanted to make my
audience happy!”
Richard: “I am curious, did you find that learning and
performing Ballet Dancing was a lot of work for you?”
Christine: “Yes, for sure! But there is a difference. I
dance through my heart and soul, when we do that we
forget ourselves and just enjoy being in the moment. It is
an altruistic approach to living, we find enjoyment in the
work and we go into another dimension.”
THE INTERVIEW
Richard: “Wow!! So at what age did you get accepted into
your first dance company?”
Richard: “So how did you get into
professional dancing and what was your
inspiration?”
Christine: “I was born in Paris, into a family
which instilled in me the important life
values of truthfulness, kindness and respect;
these values always guide me through my
life, and especially through my professional
shows. At 5 years old, I remember
discovering a pair of ballet shoes in a
suitcase in the attic of my parents, it was
from this moment on that I knew I wanted
to be a dancer.”
“My parents eventually agreed to register
me at the dancing school of Rambouillet. I
can remember going to see a dance show in
the Paris Opera: Sleeping Beauty. It was with
the fabulous Rudolf Noureev and Noëlla
Pontois. I was amazed by so much beauty!
So by 10 years old, dance became a passion
Christine: “At the age of 16 years old, the French Ballet
theater of Nancy, then in Royal Ballet of Flanders, and
finally Maurice Béjart noticed me, and I then became
incorporated into one of the biggest ballets tours all over
the world. I thus danced on the most prestigious world
stages.”
Richard: “Wow! What happened next?”
Christine: “Well I had a great career, but unfortunately
years later, I had an accident and damaged my knee. But
then I got the motivation to start writing my own
choreographies. It felt like fate and I started a new
chapter of my life. When I was a dancer I was shy, I spoke
little, I listened to a lot. As a choreographer, I can say all
that I want to say, so this creative path allows me to
continue to evolve faster on the spiritual level and to
continue with my shows.”
Richard: “Ok so this is your second dance company?”

Christine: “Yes, the first one was a major
success which was based in Toulouse, France.
Every class was fully booked, but last year I felt
that I wanted to expand and have a larger stage
so we started to look around. We couldn't find
anywhere in France so we looked to Spain and
Lliria was the only place where we could find
exactly what we wanted. We eventually found an
ideal space which is 700m2, making it the largest
dance space in this area of Spain. ”
Richard: “Wow! And tell me, is there anything
special about the dance floor?”
Christine: “Yes, the dance floor is a special
design made out of wood and silicone which
gives extra bounce. When people dance on
floors like this they no longer get problems in
their knees or ankles from landing hard on the
floor, so this is a big difference to most dance
floors. This is the kind of detail that we have
invested in our dance hall. The dance floor is
about 170m2, so yes it’s a massive and perfect
for the cultural area of Lliria and Valencia!”
Richard: “Yes, Lliria is a cultural Hubspot and
has earnt itself the title of the ‘City of Music’
because it has two music societies which
comprise bands and orchestras that have toured
the world and won international awards. So now
it feels that your presence is helping to raise the
cultural stakes even higher! People must be
coming from all over the world to do lessons
with you, tell me what types of dance lessons do
you offer?”
Christine: “Yes, indeed, they are! We do classical
dance, urban dance, Zumba, flamenco and
sevillanas. We also do yoga and pilates to help
keep your body in shape. I have the best Teachers
in all specialties. This is very important. I want
Teachers who have a good line, a good centre, so
all Teachers must be at the top level. This is the
reason why our prices are slightly higher than
most other dance studios because it is a reflection
of the very high standards of dance which we
offer here.”
Richard: “What makes your style of teaching
different to everyone else?”
Christine: “I have a wealth of experience of being
on the stage at a very professional level and
touring all over the world for more than 20 years.
Just experience one of my classes and you will
instantly feel the difference. We offer a very
personalised service. Often when you walk into a
dance class you can stand at the back and not get
noticed, but in our lessons, everyone is at the
front, even if you are at the back! Our Teachers
always check that everyone in the class is
standing in the correct position and posture, the
focus is on the individual even though you are in a
group. We always want our students to benefit
from every single experience they have with us.”
Richard: “Ok, I might do that one day, when I
have a bit more confidence! But sure, I’ll give it a
go and write about it, I am sure it would make my
readers happy! How often are you open?”
Christine: “We are open nearly all the time, open
every day from 10.30 am hrs at 10 pm hrs except
Sunday and Christmas Day. But we stay open
during most festivals and are open late in the
evening after people have finished work.”

Above: 170m2 dance floor at Dansa Shiva, Lliria, Valencia
Richard: “Do you have special prices for large groups of people booking workshops?”
Christine: “Yes, we make a special price for large groups that want to specialise in one of our disciplines, because we
think that learning dance must be accessible to everyone.”
Richard: “Ok!! That’s great! Tell me, are you going to help young adults who can’t afford to pay for a professional
dance career, to get spotted and make a name for themselves, as happened with you?”
Christine: “Yes, for young people who are passionate and determined to be professional dancers, we are offering a
scholarship programme. But these kids have to really show us that they want to reach for the stars! When they show
passion, determination, commitment, and respect, then we can support them.”

Richard: “What are you offering?”
Christine: “Young adults can go through their studies here
and if they pass their auditions they can be accepted onto
our scholarship programme, which is to the value of Euro
2,400 per year. At the end of the study, I can give them an
international passport endorsed by UNESCO that helps to
get them into well-known dance companies anywhere
around the world. It is a great opportunity! They need to
spend 150 hours studying to get the international passport
we offer. But we are tough with ort dance students, they
need to be on time, turn up regularly and have the self-drive
to reach the top!”
Richard: “So why do you think that culture is important in
our society.”
Christine: “It is important because when culture disappears
in society we then are at war with each other. If there is no
high-level cultural arts like dance and music, then people
start to become really negative and morbid about life, this is
why it’s so important in society that people can join in or
watch all different forms of art. That’s why we chose to be in
Lliria as it is famous for its music.”
Richard: “So by being here you are adding to the existing high level of
culture?”
Christine: “Yes, of course! That is why we chose Lliria. Dance and
music go together perfectly. We don’t want people fighting each other
and being really negative towards each other, we want to inspire
people and raise the consciousness of people here through dance.”
Richard: “And in such a simple way, just by learning how to do
Flamenco or Classical dance.”
Christine: “Dance is a primal act. It was a way of communication
between people. So much of dance and choreographer these days is
empty. It has no soul, no spirit. I am aware of this, so in my classes and
choreography, I am bringing the magic back into dance! The magic
between people and allowing the communication to flow again.”
Richard: “Well Christine, that is really special. It’s been really
fascinating and inspiring talking with you today. I wish you the very
best with your dance company here in Lliria and look forward to taking
one of your dance classes one day! Thank you.”
Christine: “Thank you, Richard.”

This month Doctor Silvina Ciberti, an English
Doctor Silvina Ciberti
opens up a new clinic in
Valencia
INTERVIEW BY RICHARD VOLLER
She has been established in Lliria for the last 12
years, but due to a surge in demand for her
professional services, they have now decided
to open a new clinic in Valencia.
When it comes to looking and feeling good as
you get older, more people want to have
minimally invasive and non-invasive aesthetic
procedures. And today, there are great strides
forward in technological advancements in
energy-based devices, even with the stringent
safety regulations for aesthetic procedures.
d a y !

C O M M U N I T Y N E W S & B U S I N E S S V A L E N C I A
So I wanted to debunk some of the myths which we associate with
beauty therapy and learn the differences between cosmetic
therapy and aesthetic treatments which Doctor Silvina Ciberti
offers her patients.
THE INTERVIEW
Richard: “What types of solutions do you offer your patients?”
Dra Silvina Ciberti: “There are numerous solutions we offer such
as Clinical peels, microdermabrasion, laser for skin care, Botox,
Injectables such as dermal fillers and wrinkle relaxing for antiaging
treatments, Hair growth procedures, such as PRP, vitamin
therapy for stimulating the scalp and hair health and professional
advice on skincare products or supplements.”
Richard: “So you are a Doctor, and studied here in Valencia?”
Dra Silvina Ciberti: “I studied Gynecology in Argentina. And here
in Valencia, I studied Masters in Aesthetic Medicine.”
Richard: “What is the difference between aesthetic medicine and
cosmetic surgery?”
Dra Silvina Ciberti: “The treatments of aesthetics is to improve
your natural way of being. To feel better, to have less irritation,
more brightness. Cosmetic surgery tends to focus on changing
people’s appearance through surgical techniques.”
“Aesthetic medicine applies to non-invasive procedures (using
needles, lasers etc). They are still medical in nature, but smaller
procedures which often can be done in an hour or less.”
Richard: “What issues can be treated with aesthetic medicine?”
Dra Silvina Ciberti: “There are a number of different issues which
we can treat, ranging from acne to scarring. Also aging concerns,
wrinkles, sun damage, and facial lines. And just improving the
overall look, for example, lip enhancement and non-surgical nose
jobs.”
Richard: “Is it important that people have a
consultation with you first?”
Dra Silvina Ciberti: “The consultation is the
starting point, with a discussion of the
problems and what the patient is trying to
achieve as well as a medical review; after
which the doctor can recommend the most
appropriate treatments. Because first of all, I
am a Doctor and I have a medical patient in
front of me, it means that I will always give
them advice on their health. For example, are
you smoking, because this is not good for your
health. Are you getting enough rest so your
body can recover? Are you eating a healthy
nutritional diet? These are the things which I
am always concerned about when speaking to
my patients and are important in relation to
aesthetic healing treatments. So basically,
being able to address the patient in a
comprehensive manner, not only about
aesthetic issues.”
Richard: “Ok, so you are giving them a holistic
approach to their lifestyle?”
Dra Silvina Ciberti: “Yes, the function of the
intestine helps to improve the immunity of
someone and helps them to get well. So I
always ask my patients how they are sleeping
at night and how their internal transit is? But
the best way with any medicine is when you
have the possibility to prevent it, with vitamins
and with peelings. Don’t wait for the summer,
all year you need protection for your skin. We
need to also be aware of how to protect
ourselves not only from
the radiation from the
sun, but also from
computers and mobile
phones.”
Richard: “So where
are you getting most of
your business from
these days?”
Dra Silvina Ciberti: “Well this is the reason why we
decided to open a new clinic in Valencia. I am now
getting more and more clients in Valencia, so we
thought it was time to open the new clinic on the
Colon Street which is really central and easier for
everyone to reach.”
Richard: “And of course, you can speak English, so
you can also reach the expat community here as well.
So it’s been lovely talking with you and I wish you all
the best with your new clinic here. Thank you!”
Above: Dra Silvina Ciberti
Dra Silvina Ciberti: “Yes, I have a few English clients
and they are very satisfied with my work. I use
international products which are well known in
England. Actually, there is something about the
English people which I love.”
“So thank you, Richard. It’s been really nice talking
with you.”

Pet Care for Christmas!
By María Lluch Barbera (veterinarian) & Laila Fletcher (canine behaviourist)
At Christmas time our homes are festive, and we often decorate them with plants traditional for
the season, however, it is important to be aware that many of these plants are actually toxic to
our pets.
One such plant is the well-known Poinsettia, also known in Spain as the
‘Flor de Pascua’ (Easter Flower), or the ‘Estrella de Navidad’ (Star of
Christmas). This typically red-leafed plant (though a variety of other
colours is now available) is one of the most popular festive plants, and is
almost ubiquitous at Christmas. The milky-white sap of the Poinsettia is
composed of several very irritant substances, which are poisonous if our
pets chew the stem or leaves. It causes inflammation of the mouth and
throat, and indeed of anywhere else with which it has come into contact,
including the eyes or skin. In addition, when swallowed, the sap causes
nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and more. This type of poisoning can be
treated and cured in healthy adult animals, but extra care must be taken
with very young or senior pets, which are more vulnerable to potential
neurological damage or even death.
Another risky seasonal plant is Holly. Whether the leaves or the berries,
this plant is even more toxic to our pets than Poinsettia. The ingestion of
any part of the plant can produce very acute intestinal problems, the first
symptoms of which might be nausea and vomiting, followed by severe
diarrhea. In cats, we may also see excessive drooling. In cases where a
significant amount of the plant has been swallowed, we may also see
neurological symptoms, and the ingestion of some 20 berries may well
cause death.
Other common causes of poisoning seen during the festive season are
related to Christmas foods. Though we also eat them throughout the year,
two seasonal food items that are toxic to pets are chocolate and grapes.

Chocolate contains theobromine, a substance
similar to caffeine, which is highly toxic for pets;
just 250-500 mg of theobromine per kg of
chocolate can be lethal, and even much lower
concentrations can cause symptoms such as
hyperactivity, excessive panting, urinary
incontinence, diarrhea, and tremors. The prognosis
depends on how much your pet has eaten – for
only mild symptoms the outlook is good, but if your
pet has begun to experience tremors or
convulsions the prognosis will be much more
reserved.
Grapes, either fresh or as raisins, can cause very
severe renal failure. Though more studies are
needed to understand why, the reaction seems to
vary widely from individual to individual, with some
animals showing no symptoms at all, whilst others
deteriorate rapidly. For those that show no
symptoms, the prognosis is generally good, but
this is unfortunately not the case for those that
develop renal problems.
What
should I
do if my
pet has
eaten any
of these
poisonous
items?
If you catch your pet in the act, prior to
rushing them to the vet you can induce
vomiting, using salty water or diluted
oxygenated water (agua oxigenada in
Spanish), to empty the contents of their
stomach. If it has been longer than 30
minutes since your pet ate one of these
items then you must get them to a vet as
soon as possible, as the earlier, they are
treated the better the prognosis will be.
we set up and did our thing
not only as a band but with
a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors
the servant and has forgotten the gift.” Albert Einstein
Let's search deep in ourselves. We as adults should
know our pure essence in order to learn on a way of
awareness and consciousness.
At this stage of our existence, many people are used to
examining certain situations in their lives only from a
mental point of view. Grandparents, parents,
educational system and the society have a strong
influence on us and bring us far away from our own
intuition. We feel obligated to be part of a competition,
in which we must meet some exceeded expectations
such as excellent marks at school; perfect job and
lifestyle, all kind of different requirements, which push
us up to the highest level of our mental thinking.

COMMUNITY NEWS & BUSIENSS VALENCIA | DECEMBER 2018
Our emotions, feelings, and intuition in the circle
of the society are not so important as they should
be. The intuition shows us the road which we
want to follow from our heart and not from our
mental thinking. Many times our intuition tells us
what the best is for us as a person and we have
noticed it but the winner in the internal conflict is
different. The mental thinking has shaped our
thoughts, mood, and attitude.
K N O W L E D G E .
The schools educate them how to live and think
following cognitive models and the program is made
only to develop their intellectual skills.
This part of the human evolution, together with the
process of globalization, have created persons who are
totally dependent on their rational minds and who are
obligated to live in a sick and distrustful society. One of
the main reasons is that we are a projection of all those
circumstances which are coming from outside like
behavior, norms, the collective mental programming,
family culture etc.
The other one is our Ego…. Just as a fish lives his entire
life in the water, most of humanity live their entire life in
the “ego” personality.
The fish doesn't know anything about the water unless a
fisherman captures him and pulls him onto dry land. The
fish flops and wiggles and seeks desperately to return to
the water.
A human being doesn't know that he or she is immersed
in an ocean of ego (their own and everyone else's) unless
some rare and unusual experience pulls them out of it
and bring them into a higher or deeper dimension of
experience.
We secretly love our ego because it gives us our identity.
Without the ego and its rich and varied content, we feel
as though we are nothing at all. We may even feel that
we don't exist. The ego provides us our sense of identity
through objects we own that make a statement about
who we are: a nice car, a beautiful home, pretty clothes,
the newest electronic gadgets or to have “many” friends.
We surround ourselves with objects that make us feel
good about ourselves and make us look good to others.
The ego also provides us our sense of identity through
its attachments to particular qualities we may have
instead of our those as a person.
It's very important that we recognize what we are
attached to and that we have the possibility to
change it. We need to bring a deeper dimension of
our meaning and feelings and to understand that we
are our own creator. Children play with creation and
if we follow our intuition, above the fear, we are
going to achieve a value of life.
Our evolution is a shift from identification with form
and ideas (ego-consciousness) to the increasing
awareness of our own existential Being.
This is the flowering of human consciousness, and it
is happening now, for the first time in such large
numbers of people and the new generation. The
primary purpose of our life is the Love and the real
inner connection with yourself is very, very
important.
The child is a clear connection between grandparents,
Awareness starts with:
1. be willing to learn from our children and grandchildren;
2. looking careful at the reaction of the child on a certain
situation and its surrounding;
3. listening to what children say to us and take this very
seriously;
4. watching their body language (because the children are
very loyal, they do not say always what they really feel);
5. feeling their needs (rest, nature, wishes and honest
predicaments).
The children with their STRONG INTUITION, INNER WISDOM
and HIGH SENSITIVITY are our teachers. They are creating
their behavior in order to heal the family, pushing their
parents in order to release their own ¨Mum and Dad¨
emotional blocks.
The children have come to spread light and love, increase the
planetary vibration, and help humanity as a whole to ascend,
access the higher dimensions and to move away from the
delusion of duality.

Who these days doesn’t suffer from it to one
degree or another?... not many, if we are honest.
Obviously, there are many situations that we can’t
change. BUT there are some things we CAN do to
help the way our bodies deal with it, which in turn
helps to give us a better mental and physical
outlook. Of course, it's normal to feel worried
about some things, like a driving test for example,
or a job interview, but there are many more longterm
problems that can cause a much higher state
of anxiety... Illness, financial problems, no work
etc... Of course, normally these situations
disappear when the cause is dealt with, or we
come to terms with it in some way. But, if the
situation continues to exist over months or even
years then our health is at risk. High levels of
stress are linked with a large number of illnesses
that exist in our present day and age.
To list a few… IBS, Depression,… and skin problems
such as Eczema. Even some moderate long-term
worry or anxiety is known to affect our immune
system, which can be the reason why we get more
colds and Flu than the next person.
There are some danger signals we should be aware of which will
signal the possible need to modify our current lifestyle if possible…
To list a few…
Constantly feeling tired, fatigued….. Stomach upsets…..rashes…..Loss
of concentration…..Being irritable….Loss of confidence/Unable to
make decisions…..Frequent headaches…..Muscular aches… Drinking
more alcohol than usual…..Feelings of panic along with chest pains,
breathlessness, sweating…..Excessive smoking….Even changes in
eating.. Either too much or too little.
“Stress can produce a huge range of
symptoms, not just mentally, but
physically as well, and often, not being
aware of this, we could convince
ourselves that we are seriously ill, which
adds even more to the anxiety!”

Fight or Flight!!
Most of us know what this is, but do we know what
happens in our body in this situation? It’s usually a situation
we aren’t prepared for, and literally hits us out of the blue!
Here are some of the symptoms which may be familiar to
you….
When this happens, and our bodies sense a feeling of acute
stress, danger etc. our muscles immediately tense ready for
any instant activity. At the same time, our Hypothalamus
area in our brain starts a sequence of hormonal changes in
action. Our Pituitary gland is activated, which prompts our
adrenal glands to pump out hormones like Adrenaline and
Noradrenaline. This, in turn, starts another whole range of
changes in our body. Our heart works more rapidly to help
the tense muscles, which increases blood pressure, we
begin to breathe more rapidly to supply more oxygen, and
the blood needed to supply the extra muscle activity is
diverted from other bodily functions, so our skin becomes
paler, our digestive system slows down, our mouth
becomes dry, our liver goes into action to release stored
Glucose into our bloodstream, where the extra oxygen
changes it into more energy. Our skin cools our body down
by opening our pores to stimulate perspiration. .. While all
this is happening in our body our immune system becomes
less active, allowing an infection to be much more likely...
WOW….All in an instant.
So now our body is fully prepared for Fight and Flight
action!!! Of course, there may be many situations in our
lives when we do actually need to run, e.g. if we were
physically threatened, but the point of this little article is
that this response action also comes into play if we are
faced with difficult situations… in other words, our body
reacts in the same way whether it’s a real situation or an
imagined problem.
2.. Simple breathing exercises, some people find formal meditation is
effective.
3.. Give yourself something to look forward to in your day… a little treat like
planning an hour to soak in the bath, or just to plan to read a good book.. a
little thing to look forward to, even doing that crossword puzzle... Just taking
your mind away for an hour from the problem gives refreshment.
4..Excercise isn’t always possible, but it has been proven to help relieve
tension. Not all of us can play tennis, or go to a gym, but that little walk, if
done regularly will certainly benefit your mind and body.
It goes without saying that a healthy diet is important, making sure we have a
good intake of certain vitamins while reducing the amount of sugar, refined
food, alcohol, and fats. Because of the profound changes stress causes in our
body research has given us clear evidence that stress significantly increases
our need for daily vitamin and mineral requirements. You may find the
following supplements to be helpful:
B50- COMPLEX...Bvits maintain a healthy nervous system and have a calming
effect.. 1 cap daily
CALCIUM/MAGNESIUM..Are associated with mental function, and also
reputed to have a calming effect.. one 500mg tab daily
ZINC...Beneficial for mental disturbance and sleep problems, and help to
lessen a cold and sore throat..15mg daily
VIT C..Essential for nervous system and maintaining healthy immune
response..1 gram daily.
There are also many herbal remedies formulated specifically to relieve
anxiety such as VALERIAN, PASSIONFLOWER, HAWTHORN, and LEMON
BALM. Dosage will vary according to the label…..SO, as already mentioned,
stress causes big changes in our body, the increased production of certain
hormones changes our requirement of vitamins and nutrients, at the same
time it will increase the rate at which Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Amino
acids, along with the vitamins A, C, and B Complex are excreted. The
availability of these determine our ability to help cope with long-term stress
So.. are their things we can do to help ourselves? Because
the quicker we learn to be able to cope with stress the less
likely it will be to cause panic attacks or even phobias.
Here are a few simple guidelines
1 Not always easy to follow, but if you’re feeling
tense/anxious if possible drop what you’re doing and go
outside, breathe the fresh air in as deeply as possible, look
at your surroundings, it will help take your mind away from
the situation.

A HIGH-
Little known fact:
there is a lot public
Valencia is not only attracting tourists (more
than 2 million in 2016, according to statistics).
In recent years, the city has been a magnet for
professionals from the digital world: creators of
Startups, Directors of Marketing Agencies,
On the financial side of things, Valencia
startups have lower operating costs (rent and
Managers, App Developers, Web Designers,
in London, Nice or Berlin. There are also
Social-Media Managers, Storyboard Designers,
financial incentives in the form of grants or
Brand Content Managers, all working
For
a miserable English winter's day a run for its
and yet it was a good excuse to wear my
expensive waterproof socks and highly
ridiculously
embarrassing
An 8km uphill slog to a greeting of wind,
remember).
rain and the inability to see 2 metres in front
sideways
my face somewhat tainted the crossing into
of
a walk which I have heard and can only imagine
Galicia,
normally absolutely stunning.
is
the route there are scores of villages and each
Along
generally has at least one ‘albergue’; a special
one
hostel where a bunk bed can be bagged for a
pilgrim
price of 5 to 10 euros, in a room shared with
bargain
to 20 other pilgrims and all the basic facilities one
up
the expedition requires, often with a cheapo dinner
on
unlimited wine offer. With this style of true
and
living carrying your life on your back staying
nomadic
basic accommodation, it is soon realised how much
in
little luxuries are taken for granted. I literally felt
life’s
the luckiest girl in the world when (for free!) an
like
offered me a private room with a real single
albergue
What! no squeaky bunk bed, middle of the night
bed.
or snoring baby pig roommates? Heaven! And
texters
would have thought a bedside lamp could
who
rock your world? Feeling the hot water
temporarily
down my back (when lucky enough to stay in a
trickle
with it), taking the first sip of a cold beer or
place
simply sitting in a chair after a long hard day of
even
was extreme bliss. The simple life certainly
walking,
coffee breaks, and second breakfasts.
helps you to appreciate the simple things.
but everyone was on a different journey.
.

I loved the anticipation of each new day and
what surprise it would bring…..what wonderful
person am I going to meet today that will totally
inspire me? Who is going to give me some
invaluable advice, kindly cook me dinner or
make me uncontrollably laugh? What clarity
may I find in the moments of solitude in the
middle of nature? What truly breath-taking view
am I going to stumble upon, how many cute
cats and dogs will want a pet and how many
times will I just feel genuinely happy and free?
I wish I could turn off the world and walk more
often, who knew it could be so rewarding. It was
truly magical to connect with not only nature,
but myself and all the other beautiful souls that
crossed my path.
