SPECIAL TALK
PINAKAMABAIT
One day as we are having a training
session with our Radical Coach, Bro. Obet
Cabrillas, he told us, “Anak, sa mundo
ngayon, pwede bang kayo ang maging
pinakamabait!” This left a mark in my
heart. It became a reminder for me to
make a difference in this world. With
thus in mind, I often get pressured to be
one, thinking that I need to change big
time. I need to do big stuff in order to
be one of the pinakamabait! But being
pinakamabait doesn’t require us to do
big things. We can start by doing small
things, small acts of kindness. Start saying
“Thank you!”, “Sorry!”, “Please!”. Then
be understanding. Be patient. Be grateful.
These small actions without you realizing
are producing a ripple effect to everyone
around you and will eventually go back to
you in an overwhelming sense.
Some might think, “Mahirap yan.”
“Imposibleng magawa yan!” “Hindi na
kaya yan!” I would like to rebuke that
mindset, a lot of people already did it
and they are our saints. They were just
ordinary people who did extraordinary
things by believing and trusting God,
helping people; grateful and humble
people who made a difference in the world.
Today, I want to challenge you, maging
ikaw ang pinakamabait! For I believe that
as God looks at us, he doesn’t only see us
as someone amazing, beautiful and great,
He also sees us as a saint in the making.
Be mightily blessed,
Kuya Lep Sumera
The Feast SM Manila, LOUD
By his death and Resurrection, Jesus
Christ has “opened” heaven to us.
The life of the blessed consists in
the full and perfect possession of the
fruits of the redemption accomplished
by Christ. He makes partners in his
heavenly glorification those who have
believed in him and remained faithful
to his will. Heaven is the blessed
community of all who are perfectly
incorporated into Christ. (Catechism of
the Catholic Church 1026).
PRAISEcription:
Believe. Be faithful. Be blessed.
Be well and make a difference,
WHICH EYEGLASSES ARE YOU USING?
A Paradigm is like the eyeglasses you use to
see the world.
I believe there are only two eyeglasses
available: Reality or Destiny. Most people
use the lens of Reality, and when bad things
happen, they get stuck in their sadness, or
fear, or anger forever. They get sucked by the
negative stuffs that surrounds them – the
vampire-like officemate, or the suffocating
traffic, or the throbbing hurt from a horrible
ex, or the cellulite deposits compounding
daily.
Some wiser people use the lens of Destiny.
They believe that what they see is only 1%
of what exists. That 99% is unseen by the
naked eye. (Think Neo, a computer hacker
who steals information on the internet in the
science-fiction film Matrix and realizes the
true nature of his reality.).
So for people using the Destiny’s lens,
beyond the vampire or traffic or hurts or
cellulites, they believe that they’re God’s
Beloved.
They’re Builders of an Everlasting Kingdom.
They’re future saints. And that God is doing
somethings amazing in the spiritual realm
and it will be be revealed to them.
Have a glorious Feast today.
May your dreams come true,
LAST FEAST RECAP
EXHAUSTED? GO BACK TO HIM
“I’m tired,” is a line almost everyone says at
the end of the day.
Exhaustion comes in different types. Some
are physically tired from moving, while some
are mentally exhausted from exams, or even
stressed because of their jobs. Some are
emotionally exhausted from chasing the one
they love. After all of these exhaustion, sleep
wouldn’t be enough.
During his homily last Feast, Father Toto Cerada
emphasized that the complete rest that we
need from the world’s exhaustion is found
when we go back to Jesus Christ.
St. Paul said that we should always heed the
word of the Lord by being humble, kind and
patient to each other, so that our love won’t
fade. Maybe that’s why people keep coming
back to the Feast, because after a tiring week
at school or in the office, we feel His love here.
His love embraces us and restores our strength.
Here at the Feast, with the love that God has
given us, we remain in Him and we go back
to Him as we love and understand each other
regardless of who we are. Being patient in
dealing with the imperfections of others is
really difficult, but Father Toto said that we
should remember that God does that to us
every time.
Every time we fall because of our
imperfections, our perfect God remains patient
with us. Although we keep on committing
sins, He still loves us and forgives us because
forgiveness is the key to inner peace.
Inner peace is what we need to relieve the
exhaustion we get from this world. Inner peace
from the Lord is rest.
GREATEST TEAM EVER
As we grow older, we tend to
focus on what we can do on
our own. For most of us, being
independent is somewhat
tantamount to adulting. For
some, it means being a strong
person. There is so much “I”
in our lives that we forget
that we are not alone in our
journey. The list goes on from,
“I pay the bill,” “I shop for
my needs,” “I travel alone,” “I
can face the heartbreaks and
rejections,” ‘til “I can do it on
my own even if I think I can’t
take it anymore.”
“Get out of the way,” Kuya Lep
Sumera told us last Friday to
remind us to let the Holy Spirit
take charge and work in our
lives.
As we try to work things
out by our own capacity
and understanding, we get
very limited and can only
do so little. We shall avoid
resisting the help given and
let His holy works recreate
our world, empower us in
our mission, and give life
and encouragement in our
soul. The Holy Spirit can refill
our emptiness and energize
us to reach our maximized
potential. When Jesus
ascended to Heaven, He left
the Holy Spirit here on earth
as gift from God so that we’ll
have a friend and companion
in our lives.
“Bago pa man dumating
ang problema na ‘yan sa
buhay mo, bago mo pa
man naranasan ang mga
kaguluhan sa buhay mo,
bago pa man nagsimula ang
mga pagsubok sa buhay mo,
kasama mo na ang Espiritu
Santo. Hindi tayo iniwan ng
Espiritu Santo. Hindi nawala
ang Espirito Santo sa ating
buhay. Akala niyo lang wala,
pero meron,” Doc Ryan
emphasized during the M.D.
session.
There was a famous quote
from Helen Keller, “Alone we
can do so little. Together we
can do so much.” This also
goes with our relationship
with the Holy Spirit. Together
with Him, we can do so many
things beyond what we can
imagine and expect. We are
not alone in the journey of our
lives because we have the
great Friend who is willing
to be with us throughout our
lives.
Our life is a team play with
the Holy Trinity – the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Believe in Our Father’s love
for us. Believe in what Jesus
can do for our sake. Believe
that the Holy Spirit works in
our lives. Let Him assist you to
fulfill the mission our Father
has called you for. Surrender
to their mercy and works
and let the grace reveal the
goodness of the Lord. We’ve
got the greatest team with us.
“But those who trust in the
Lord for help will find their
strength renewed. They will
rise on wings like eagles; they
will run and not get weary;
they will walk and not grow
weak.” –Isaiah 40:31
Being home is quite relative, but this is a place
where love is. This is a place where we truly
belong.
Only a few months after I started college,
I met the Holy Spirit in a very unexpected
and exciting way. After that day, everything
changed.
I used to sneak out to attend prayer meetings
in different Christian gatherings. For some
reason, I never thought of attending The Feast.
I read the Bible every single day, and to me,
being in His presence was everything that
mattered.
Despite hitting the rock bottom in my studies
and in my human relationships, the fire in my
heart to know Him more kept burning. I sought
for His Kingdom. I received gifts from the Holy
Spirit.
I had my heart broken for so many times and
for so many reasons, but I remained in Him
even when it meant leaving the world, because
HOME
BY ALYANNA MAE G. ILAGAN
I have come to understand that people and
things that are against Him are not for me.
Because of my many frustrations in life, I knew
I needed to breathe. The Holy Spirit led me to
The Feast SM Manila.
I did not intend to join any community, but
months later, I found myself being empowered
by God’s Spirit in my service for His people.
More than the gifts, He allowed me to manifest
the fruits of my gifts.
The Lord used our community as one of the
sources to fill my love tank. I never understood
why He allowed this to happen, because I never
planned to be here. But for the first time in a
long time, it felt like home because God has
always been my home. And truly, God is here.
Last May, we had the series entitled
“Superpower,” which dug deep in the Holy
Spirit. It is one of my personal favorites. Every
second was life-changing. I can never forget
Doc Ryan’s statement. Until now, it echoes in
my head, “Say ‘Yes’ to the Spirit.”
And I did. I realized that it’s not a one-time
process. I have been doing it even before (and
maybe you do, too). It is a retainer activity of
the soul that costs my life, but the gains are
beyond compare.
The Holy Spirit has linked me to the Father and
the Son. The Trinity is One and the wonder of
our God goes beyond time, space and matter.
I may never understand, but God have always
had a way of making it partially known. God
has a way of letting me know that I am home.
And within the borderlines of Cinema 4, I am
sure I’m home, because I came for Him, the
Triune God—to whom I truly belong.
More than all this, I’ve understood that
although I’ve had a fair share of the
supernatural manifestation of God’s love, the
Holy Spirit has been working in everything and
everyone. The power of God rests in each one.
To Him we truly belong.
He is home.
