Directorate of Public Works was called in to ensure the
tower was properly shut down, they forgot to turn off the
water to the tower’s drinking fountain. Winter came. One
evening I received a call reporting a leak in the tower, but
it didn’t sound like an emergency so I decided I would get
to it in the morning.
When I arrived at work in the morning, I found a
massive icicle that measured at least 90 feet tall and over
15 feet wide hanging from the side of the airfield tower.
Fortunately the icicle melted without toppling the control
tower.
