Cambridge is an “Industrial City” with a history rich in industrial development dating back to the
1800’s. Planned industrial building lots were marketed as early as the mid 1800’s and established the
cornerstone for the momentum in industrial development that exists today.
In recent decades, through the efforts of the Economic Development Division, the City has
developed and marketed parcels of industrial land to a diverse range of manufacturing and service
industries that make Cambridge their home. Companies that have established in Cambridge are
either locally established entrepreneurial companies, or were established by outside investment
through multi-national corporations. All of these companies have grown successfully in Cambridge.
The following business parks represent three major industrial areas of Cambridge:
The Cambridge Business Park, is a City-developed industrial park, and
consists of 850 acres and is situated north of Highway #401 and next to the
400-acre Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada assembly plant. Its strength lies
in its quick access to Highway #401 and its central location to a large regional
commuter-shed.
The L.G. Lovell Industrial Park, south of Highway #401, consists of 1,300
acres of land. There are a number of industrial buildings for sale or lease. The
area has quick Highway #401 access from Highway 24 and Townline Road
exits.
The Eastern Industrial Park, a built-up 300-acre industrial park to the
interior of the City, still accommodates a range of industries from “heavy” to
“high tech” that make an enormous contribution to the City’s economic base.
