the PSLOD's highest honor. But it's also 

important to congratulate the many, 

many community members that helped 

established this event and continue its grand 

tradition. The leather community has alway 

been the loving but stern big brother of our 

queer lives. They protest us when we need it 

and are there for the long run. We have met 

Mr. Passmore and we approve. He seems 

to embody the fine traditions of the leather 

and reminds us to show our better Angels. 

He is passionate about our community and 

interested in bringing more folks discover 

the leather pride.

is an annual event of the Arenas Road

Best known for her iconic roles in 

films and television series spanning 

over generations, EG Daily 

is a Los Angeles native and started 

her career at an early age with 

roles on shows including “Laverne 

and Shirley,” “Chips,” and “Fame.” 

In the ‘80s, she had three Top 

10 hits, including “Say It, Say It” 

by Benitez, which went #1 on the 

Billboard dance charts. EG also 

stunned judges on NBC’s “The 

Voice” once they realized that she 

had starred in the ‘80’s cult classic 

movie PEE WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE 

as Dottie, had voiced Tommy 

Pickles on Nickelodeon’s hit cartoon 

“Rugrats” and had gueststarred

a “song-song” for a while, and I 

wasn’t even actually trying. I always 

write for different projects, once

team and hired the people to make the video. 

When the video was done, it became very

that to great shopping restaurants, clubs, and 

entertainment venues located along worldfamous 

Palm Canyon Dr. The result is like

Features include a Children’s Headquarters 

(CHQ) space for games and crafts, the Youth 

Zone by Safe Schools Desert Cities, and HIV/ 

AIDS testing by Get Tested Coachella Valley.

Straight white Democrats 

also might find themselves 

in the minority class. So now we know the 

fear and loathing of those of us that grew 

up under a Vietnam war where 58,000 

Americans died killing 2 million others. No 

one needs to tell us how important it is. 

Trump supporters are like a drunk driver 

in your lane. They will not change their 

minds. They are certain they are in the 

correct lane. Our only hope is to out vote 

them. Then we can begin to help them 

see both sides of the issue. As a gay man I 

Vote Democrat, because I have read both 

platforms and the Democratic platform 

supports more representation of the peoples 

of this land. Now it is true we have a rich 

and colorful history of oppression, cruelty 

and indifference. Democrats are 

also to blame for that and 

is matched by the evildoers 

all over the word. We exist. We struggle, 

we all help each other up in a disaster. We 

have joyful births and sad passing of those 

we love. That's what it's all about, because 

we exist, it proves that love always wins in 

the end and love will always be first in our 

hearts. Vote then with your heart, move the 

thermometer back to the middle. If the only 

energy you have is to vote for your state 

congress person and our federal legislatures 

with the “D” next to their name. Because 

what ever Trump does, he votes republican.

SPECTACULAR 

LAKE COMO, ITALY

I went to Lake Como, Italy in June, 

imagining it as a small and sleepy 

luxury resort town. I was pleasantly 

surprised to learn that Como is 

everything but small and offers the 

best of Italy’s beauty, culture, history 

and much more. 

SPECTACULAR 

north of Milan, close to the Swiss 

border. At fifty-six square miles, the 

lake is shaped like an inverted letter 

“Y”, surrounded by dozens of ancient 

villages along its shores. Each quaint 

village has its own rich history, 

distinct characteristics and offers 

unique sites to visit. 

Since Roman times, Lake Como has 

been a popular retreat for nobility, 

aristocrats and wealthy people, and 

a very popular tourist attraction with 

many artistic and cultural gems. But 

despite its popularity with celebrities 

and elite travelers, Como is affordable 

for all visitors despite their budget. 

Mid-range and budget hotels and 

other lodging options make Como 

accessible to everyone. 

Como appeals to all types of travelers, 

history and architecture buffs, who 

want to see Roman, middle-ages and 

renaissance buildings, majestic gothic 

cathedrals and churches, hike in the 

mountains surrounding the lake, visit 

world-class museums and foodies who 

want to try local cuisines and the best 

Michelin 3-Star restaurants in the 

world. Although not one of the biggest 

wine regions in Italy, there are several 

wineries around Como and local wines 

are served at most restaurants there. 

The region is perfect for LGBT 

travelers as your sexual orientation 

is a non-issue there. I asked a local 

about the community’s attitude toward 

queers and his response was, “Why 

does it matter? Everyone is the same.” 

My personal experience in Como was 

that it is a welcoming city to everyone 

as I had discussions with several 

local residents about the community’s 

acceptance of its LGBT residents and 

tourists. The locals are some of the 

friendliest, warmest and hospitable 

people I have ever encountered, 

welcoming LGBT travelers with open 

arms. 

I had my first dinner at the exquisite

The LGBTQ community has been 

persecuted and ostracized throughout 

history. The struggle for recognition to be 

accepted by the broader society as legitimate 

in their various sexuality has been a 

continuous political conflict . Reminders 

of recent conflicts throughout the past 

several decades include the Stonewall Riots 

in 1969, New York City. This spectacle of 

discrimination and police brutality brought 

major attention to the plight of the gay 

community.and the need for understanding 

of our rights as individuals. In the years 

following the struggle continued, including 

the Anita Bryant campaign to repeal gay 

rights, the "don't ask, don't tell" fiasco with 

the U.S. military, the violence and murder of 

Mathew Sheppard, the Orlando night club 

terrorist attack, etc...etc.

Why is PRIDE important? Obviously the 

need for recognition of LGBTQ people as 

members, in equality, within the society

has been involved in recognizing PRIDE 

beginning with the first Pride parade in

125,000 people from Southern California

else. There were times when I’ve had 

make-up artists, hairstylists, wardrobe 

people, stylists—but if you’re 

not joyful in the inside, it doesn’t 

matter what you look like on the 

outside you won’t feel your beauty. 

I know from my personal experience 

that I have to ground myself 

and that I have to have self-love 

and self-compassion. I think people 

are most beautiful when they’re not 

trying to be beautiful. 

What made you decide to include 

your two daughters in the video 

for “So Pretty”? 

Well, because we all struggle with 

the issue of beauty and obsess 

about it. Especially with filtered 

selfies becoming the norm, thats a 

lot of pressure. In our household, 

we are all trying to encourage each 

other and to nurture each other 

from the inside out. Like I said, I 

like to do things with my tribe: I run 

with a pack, and my pack includes 

my daughters and a handful of my 

friends. And, of course, I wanted my 

daughters in it because they represent 

the millennials. 

You know, it so varies—I could be 

at a market and the check-out girl 

would say, “You are EG Daily, I love 

your voice, I love your music,” and 

then in the same check-out line, 

the person next to me in line will be 

like, “OMG you’re Tommy Pickles.” I 

gotta tell you–it’s so vast and it 

changes from person to person. 

Tell me about your young fans, 

especially LGBT. 

The gay community has been 

incredible. For decades, I’ve performed 

at Pride festivals and LGBT 

events all across the country. They 

are my tribe. 

You Kickstarter campaign is an 

opportunity for everyone to help 

and join this movement. Tell me 

a little about that. 

First of all, there are some great

re-boot of 26 new episodes as 

well as celebrating the 20th anniversary 

of “The Powerpuff Girls”.

Girl” 30 th anniversary. November 2nd

Which living person do you most 

admire? 

I most admire those who 

don’t bow down or people-please, 

but rather stay true to themselves. 

I love Oprah Winfrey, Gigi 

Gorgeous, Lady Gaga, Meryl 

Streep, Barack Obama to name 

few. I have a lot of friends who are 

transgender and I admire anyone 

who stays true to themselves.

LEONDRA KRUGER 

SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS - 

TONY THURMOND Tony is a strong 

proponent for public schools, believing that a free 

public education only strengthens California. He will 

continue a fine history of strong Superintendents who 

work to educate and protect our children. I am vote for 

Tony 

MARSHALL TUCK Marshall is a smart 

wealthy man who believes 100% in charter schools. 

While this may help some, they have proven to be a 

disaster to more. The rich get better schools while those 

poorer get less. This is exactly the cycle that must be 

broken and Marshall is not up to the job. 

COUNTY SHERIFF – 

STAN SNIFF/ CHAD BIANCO By far 

the most contentious race in the county, pitting the 

incumbent Sheriff against one of his underlings. Sheriff 

Sniff has worked his entire career for this position and is 

finishing his second term. He has done much to bring 

financial order to the department and to work with 

the Board of Supervisors. He has appointed a strong 

body of diverse officials to his leadership team; women, 

LGBT, Hispanic, Asian and African American. This 

alone will be his legacy when he does leave office. He 

has developed new policies on handling trans people 

should they get in the law enforcement arena for 

whatever reason. It’s been an honor working with him 

the last eight years and hope to do so for another four. 

Chad on the other hand, has no history of support 

for minorities, in fact he was called to speak at a 

recent Palm Springs City Council meeting to answer 

accusations that he is homophobic that were leveled 

at him by a gay deputy. We have no need to go back. 

Law enforcement throughout the state and nation is 

changing and Stan Sniff will help us in our transition. I 

do not believe Chad Bianco can do that. 

DESERT HEALTH CARE DISTRICT, DISTRICT 4 

SHELLEY KAPLAN No doubt Shelley Kaplan 

has been the smartest councilman I have been able 

to serve with and it will be a HUGE loss to the city 

to have him go to the District, I am excited that he is 

in the race for what might be possible for Cathedral 

City having him on the board. We have many health 

needs, physical and mental) here in the valley and he 

will be able to get resources to us for badly needed 

programs. As a higher education professional on the 

building and development side he will be strong voice 

in the renegotiation with Tenant Healthcare and their 

operation of Desert Hospital and JFK Memorial in 

Indio. Shelley is a real public servant and back his 

election 1000% 

EVETT PEREZGIL Evett has been a 

strong neighborhood activist in the Dream Homes 

Neighborhood and currently serves on the city’s Sister 

City Task Force. She wants to help her neighbors and 

her city and I applaud her. I just do not believe she is 

ready for such a critical valley position as Health Care 

District Board member. 

PROPOSITIONS – 

I’m happy to go over in detail with anyone on details but 

I am already over limit in my word count and probably 

put many to sleep. 

1) Housing Assistance Bonds - YES 

2) Existing Housing Bonds use expanded to use for 

mental health programs - YES
