Oklahoma electric rates are among the
nation’s lowest and a modern delivery system
allows any size business to be added with
almost unlimited energy resources available.
State and local governments have emphasized
industrial development by making
available more than 300 industrial parks
and hundreds of office, plant, and building
sites ready for business at locations statewide.
In addition, Oklahoma is a right-to-work
state where workers are allowed to seek
or retain employment regardless of union
membership requirements.
The efforts of business and government
leaders are paying off as new investment
decisions are announced. In the first quarter
of 2013, thirty company locations announced
growth in the state totaling more than
$417 million. Six of the locations were new
to the state and sixteen were manufacturing
companies. It was estimated that the one
quarter’s new investment would result in
more than 3,000 new jobs. The largest job
announcements were Paycom in Oklahoma
City, Verizon in Tulsa, and ABB in Bartlesville.
The ABB announcement of nearly 300
jobs is an example of Oklahoma attracting
international development. ABB is a centuryold
company based in Switzerland that is a
leader in power and automation technology.
