Oklahoma has a civilian labor force of approximately
1.7 million. The government sector provides the
most jobs, followed by transportation and utilities, and
education, business, and manufacturing. The growing
aerospace industry generates more than $11 billion
annually. Tulsa is home to the largest airline maintenance
base in the world, the global maintenance and
engineering headquarters for American Airlines.
Aerospace accounts for more than ten percent of the
state’s industrial output, placing Oklahoma in the top
ten nationally in aerospace engine manufacturing.
