Oklahoma: A Story Through Her People

Redneck Bank has received national
attention. Articles about the bank have
appeared in The New York Times,
U.S. Banker, SmartMoney and The
Oklahoman. Redneck Bank also appears
in several college marketing textbooks.
In 2008, we created Internet divisions of
each community bank. AmericaNet Bank is
the Internet division of All America Bank.
Redneck Bank is the Internet division of
Bank of the Wichitas. Evantage Bank is the
Internet division of Southwest State Bank.
Thomas Clayton Huckabay passed away
on August 7, 2004, at the age of ninety-six.
He worked in the bank in Snyder until two
weeks prior to his death. He was a gentleman
in every sense of the word. He possessed a
gentle spirit, strength of character, a great
sense of humor and was abundantly generous
and loving. He inspired his family and those
around him in countless ways.
T. C.’s son, Gary Clayton Huckabay, was
born on January 3, 1938, in Mountain Park,
Oklahoma. After graduating from Snyder
High School in 1956 he attended the
University of Oklahoma and graduated with
a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical
Engineering in 1961. He moved back to
Snyder to learn the banking business from
his father. In 1969, Gary chartered First
Mustang State Bank, a new bank in Mustang,
Oklahoma, at the age of thirty-one. First
Mustang State Bank changed its name to All
America Bank in 1996 upon opening its first
branch in Oklahoma City. Gary served as
president of All America Bank until 2008 and
Chairman of the Board of All America Bank,
Southwest State Bank and Bank of the
Wichitas until 2013.
Gary has served the State of Oklahoma
with honor in many capacities including being
a member of the Oklahoma State Banking
Board for twelve years, Oklahoma City
Traffic Commission for ten years, Community
Bankers Association of Oklahoma (president
and Chairman of the Board), Oklahoma
Bankers Association of Oklahoma (board
member and President’s Award), Oklahoma
Heritage Association (board member), and
Leadership Oklahoma (board member).
Gary has two sons, Clayton Todd (Todd)
and Wade Barrett Huckabay, and a daughter,
Shawn Huckabay Braden. Todd and Wade
attended the Graduate School of Banking
in Madison, Wisconsin, from 1992 to 1994,
where they were both in the top ten percent
of their class. Shawn, Todd, and Wade
have served on the Board of Directors of
All America Bank, Bank of the Wichitas and
Southwest State Bank since 1993.
Todd was born on May 24, 1963. He
graduated from Mustang High School in
1981 and attended the University of
Oklahoma where he earned a Bachelor of
Arts degree in Economics in 1985. Todd
worked for a year at First Mustang State
Bank, and then moved to Snyder to attend
the Huckabay School of Banking, where his
grandpa, T. C. Huckabay, taught him how to
be a good banker. Todd became president of
Bank of the Wichitas in 2005.
Todd has served the State of Oklahoma
and his community in various ways
including the Oklahoma Department of
Transportation (commissioner), Oklahoma
Bankers Association (board member), Kiowa
County Zoning Commission (board member),
Snyder Industrial Authority (president), Snyder
Rotary Club (president), Snyder Chamber of
Commerce (president), and United Methodist
Youth Camps (board member).
Wade was born on February 16, 1965. He
graduated from Mustang High School in
1983 and attended the University of
Oklahoma where he earned a Bachelor of
Arts degree in Finance in 1987. Upon
graduation Wade also moved to Snyder to
attend the Huckabay School of Banking.
