For the Wyandotte Nation, 2013 brought
about many special events and achievements
including the startup of a Tribal Court System
enabling them to meet the requirements of
their tribal constitution and further govern
their own jurisdictions. Other highlights
for 2013 included the first ever Tribal Town
Hall Meetings held in Seattle, Washington,
and Irvine and Sacramento, California, in an
effort to connect tribal citizens. Future Tribal
Town Hall meetings are planned in Texas and
Colorado. The goal of these meetings is to
unite and share information with members
about the past, present and future among
Wyandotte citizens across the entire country.
The Tribe has also opened the Wyandotte
Nation Casino in Wyandotte, Oklahoma. The
casino features a variety of game tables
including 6 deck blackjack, 3 card poker,
and single deck Superfun 21, and special
tournaments are offered periodically. Also
offered are slot machines featuring 532
class two and class three games with
denominations ranging from .01 to $10. The
Club Wyandotte offers special card rewards to
its members. With Premier Rewards, players
can enjoy benefits of using their points for a
variety of purchases including merchandise,
gas, food and other services. The casino also
features fine dining and has plans to expand
its services and entertainment to include a
private club area, bowling alley, new Twin
Bridges Restaurant, VIP lounge, entertainment
venue, and a billiards and darts room.
Further economic developments include
the opening of the first Indian-owned Sonic
restaurant in the United States in Seneca,
Missouri. A fuel stop and convenience store is
located just outside the community offering
amenities for travelers. It also features a small
casino called the Lucky Turtle Casino, as well
as the Turtle Stop Diner. Other major revenue
comes from the 7th Street Casino, which
opened in Kansas City, Kansas, in September
2007. In addition, the Tribe runs and operates
Wyandotte NeTel and Bearskin Services,
which are suppliers of fiber optic information
services to the U.S. Government. The tribe
also operates Wyandotte Precision Products,
which offers a strategic blend of machining,
engineering, reverse engineering, manufacturing
and machine build/rebuild capabilities, and a
team of experienced machinists to solve many
types of repair problems.
Other recent projects include a new
community building in Heritage Acres that
should be completed early in 2014. The
community building will be a great asset for
all tribal citizens living in the area. The Tribe
is also planning for the groundbreaking of
their new Tribal Cultural and Activity Center
in 2014. The new activity center will provide
a place and opportunity for the Tribe to share
the history of the Wyandotte.
