Citizen-approved bond projects also
included revitalization of Woodward’s
Main Street, which included the Streetscape
Project (lighting, streets and sidewalk
improvements.)
Recent business, commercial and education
facilities have also been added, along
with new residences. Although Woodward
had been without a movie theater for years,
it now has a six-screen cineplex.
Enrollment and curriculum at the
Woodward Campus of Northwest Oklahoma
State University have increased steadily since
opening of the facilities several years ago.
This campus offers a permanent site at which
area residents can receive a quality education
near home.
With a population of about 15,000,
Woodward is the largest city in an area of
nine counties, and is a northwest Oklahoma
commercial hub for a tri-state region with over
70,000 residents. The U.S. Census Bureau
has listed Woodward as the second fastestgrowing
community in Oklahoma, with a
2010-2013 population increase of 6.6 percent.
Woodward’s recently adopted comprehensive
plan for the next twenty years includes
tools and resources to enhance a robust
community embracing regionalism, fiscal
responsibility and a strong quality of life.
This plan is designed to enhance the city
as a northwest Oklahoma commercial hub
in an attractive setting while embracing
family values and a rich cultural heritage.
