historic Wacker Park band shell, musical<br />

productions and many unique art shows. In<br />

2012 the arts council received Keep <strong>Oklahoma</strong><br />

Beautiful’s Environmental Excellence and<br />

Innovation Award, presented by OGE Energy<br />

Corp., for their Trash In Fashion Show. The<br />

Garvin County Community Living Center and<br />

Pauls Valley Recycling Center are also striving<br />

to keep Pauls Valley clean and beautiful. In<br />

2013 the Garvin County Community Living<br />

Center opened Pauls Valley’s first recycling<br />

center. During the center’s first year of operation,<br />

566,140 pounds of waste were reclaimed,<br />

processed and shipped out for recycling.<br />

Numerous recreation and leisure activities<br />

for all ages and varied interests are available<br />

to Pauls Valley residents and visitors. The<br />

36,540 square foot Donald W. Reynolds<br />

Recreation Center, which opened<br />

in 2011 through a grant from the<br />

Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, is<br />

open to all ages. Its gymnasium<br />

provides facilities for youth and<br />

adult basketball and volleyball; an<br />

indoor running/walking track; a wellequipped<br />

weight/cardiovascular area;<br />

a multipurpose room that is open<br />

for rental; and an area specifically<br />

designed for aerobics, spin class,<br />

yoga, dance, Pilates, and martial arts<br />

programs. Other amenities include a<br />

room for birthday parties, an indoor<br />

playground and a babysitting area.<br />

Two community recreational facilities,<br />

the Bosa Indoor Swimming<br />

Pool and the Bosa Community<br />

Center, are named for Colonel<br />

William Bosa, whose goal was to<br />

make them available for use over many years.<br />

The 12,000 square foot community center,<br />

which opened in 1996, features a banquet hall<br />

seating 450, and accommodates conferences<br />

and other public events, including drama<br />

productions, fairs, wedding receptions and<br />

large-scale parties. The pool offers water fitness<br />

classes, arthritis aquatic programs, lap swimming,<br />

open family swim, lifeguard classes,<br />

swimming lessons and private party rentals.<br />

The park serves as a playground for all<br />

residents and tourists in the community. Its<br />

facilities include playground equipment, a<br />

band shell, softball and baseball fields, the<br />

Rotary club rose garden, tennis courts, a<br />

pavilion, a senior citizen center, rodeo<br />

grounds and stands, the Garvin County fair<br />

facility, football field, basketball gym and a<br />

recreational center.<br />
