Oklahoma: A Story Through Her People

Residents and visitors alike give Oklahomans standing ovations and acclaim for
supporting a variety of arts that advance the state’s culture. The state ranks seventeenth
in the nation in per capita spending on the arts. With more than 300 museums of
fine art, natural history, and science; world-class performing arts; and an abundance
of festivals, Oklahoma’s culture is a blend of peoples, history, and excellence. The
Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa houses the world’s largest collection of art of the American
West. The offering of museums is as diverse as Tulsa’s Philbrook Museum of Art to
Oklahoma City’s National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
