BenchTop Pro with Omnitronics
The VirTis BenchTop Pro freeze dryers have
been designed to meet the needs of the most
demanding research laboratories. Each
system can be configured to accommodate
present and future requirements. Condenser
refrigeration packages of -55°C, -75°C,
-85°C and -105°C can meet the demands
of both aqueous or aqueous-solvent based
formulations.
You can configure your system
to run just a few samples or
to process a relatively heavy
load with condenser size
choices of 3 liter, 8 liter or
9 liter. Selecting a size and
temperature configuration
allows you to maximize the use
of the freeze dryer in your lab
while not paying needlessly
for unnecessary capacity or
refrigeration.
Each system can be
configured to meet
the needs of the most
demanding research
laboratories.
Manifolds
Manifolds are available in a variety
of styles and are designed to be
interchangeable. There are a number of
considerations when selecting a manifold.
In a multi-user lab it is often best to utilize
a robust stainless steel manifold. In
applications where inorganic solvents are
being utilized or you are rack drying and
want to ensure visibility an acrylic manifold
would be preferred. In applications
with organic solvents the stainless steel
manifolds will provide long lasting use.
Omnitronics Controller
The Omnitronics Controller simplifies freeze drying
and makes the system easy to operate. One touch
start up and shut down ensure that your product
and freeze dryer are protected from inappropriate
procedures. The graphic display provides at-aglance
understanding of the status of the freeze
dryer and whether or not appropriate freeze drying
conditions exist. Audible alarms help notify the
user of potential problems with the system and
hence, with the product. All Omnitronics controllers
come complete with a trending screen that allows
you to watch critical parameters on an on-going
basis if required. Utilizing the optional Ethernet
control, you can connect the freeze dryer to your
company’s or institution’s network, and monitor
and/or control your freeze dryer from any other
location on the network. The Ethernet option
also allows print out in a batch record, alphanumeric,
type report.
One touch start up and shut
down ensure that your product
and freeze dryer are protected
from inappropriate procedures.
Don’t waste time with
slow & messy defrosting
The hot gas defrost in the BenchTop Pro
allows for fast turnaround time and helps
minimize clean up efforts when having
to pour warm water into a condenser. In
addition, corrosive solvents which are more
active at ambient and higher temperatures
will spend a minimum amount of dwell time
in the condenser with fast hot gas defrost—
no need to wait overnight to drain the
system.
Features of the BenchTop Pro
• Condensers of 3, 8 and 9 liters in a bench top
footprint
• Refrigeration packages for maximum low
temperature of -55°, -75°, -85° or -105°C
• One touch start-up and shut-down
• Pressure control to avoid back-streaming or for
faster freeze drying
• A variety of manifolds to accommodate most
processing configurations
• Rugged and reliable Pirani vacuum sensor
• Hot gas defrost in approximately 10 minutes or
less
• Optional vacuum pump isolation valve
Selection Guide
There are two main criteria for selecting the benchtop freeze dryer that is right for
you. The first is determining what condenser capacity you need in between defrost
cycles. The second is to determine what solvents you may be using in your process.
When utilizing water as the only solvent the highest condenser temperature offered is
appropriate. In cases where organic or inorganic solvents are being utilized as part
of the solvent matrix the lowest temperature condenser is always preferred.
have better experience with stainless steel.
Considerations
Standard oil sealed, rotary vane direct
pressure conditions consider a dry scroll
pump if oil backstreaming is a concern.
BenchTop Pro with
Omnitronics
8L Freeze Dryer
The BenchTop Pro with Omnitronics
8 liter is designed for heavier loads
and for use with solvents other than
water. It is available with a -75°C
or -105°C condenser. The -105°C
option is preferred for applications
involving low freezing point solvents
such as TFA, acetronitrile and
alcohols. Even if the freezing point
of your solvent is below -105°C this
temperature condenser is more likely
to liquefy the solvent and thus prevent
it from migrating easily to the vacuum
pump.
• Offered in low and ultra-low condenser
configuration -75°C (-72°C for 50Hz)
or -105°C (-102°C for 50Hz)
• CFC free refrigerants
• Approximate 24 hour rating of 3
Wide Mouth Filter Seal Flasks
These borosilicate flasks are specially designed for manifold freeze drying. The flat
bottom makes it easy to stabilize the flask in its upright position for “plug” or static
freezing. The wide mouth of the flask makes it easier to place product in the flask and
perhaps even more importantly, remove product from the flask. The snap on silicone top
ensures a good vacuum seal and comes complete with a filter to eliminate the possibility
of cross contamination when several flasks are on the same dryer. All components can
be autoclaved. The flask itself is available in regular and in safety coated configurations.
Must be used with manifold adaptors.
