I N T R O D U C T I O N Jalan Hang Jebat, also called as Jonker Street is the centre street of historical Chinatown in Melaka. It was once renowned for its antique shops. Many old traditional looking shop houses can be found in Jonker Street. The area is really interesting to explore. Many old temples and mosque are nearby and there are so many fascinating things to see. The heritage houses dating back up to the 17 th century. At that time, rich Baba Nnonya which also known as Peranakan, descendent of 15 th – 16 th century Chinese immigrants marrying local Malay women, lived and did their business here. Due to more incoming of the tourists and development of the city, Jonker Street has slowly change its role from residential to serve as commercial purposes. Café is one of the most common and popularity that can be found in along the street.
