those lucky enough to have been coached by him with no doubt keep his
passion burning at Mazenod as Nathan leaves us to go to Ararat. On behalf of
all at Mazenod I say a huge thank you to you all.
I would also like to again thank Fr Michael, the College Board and the Executive
of the College for their ongoing support of all our sports programs. They have
provided us all with outstanding resources and facilities to work at our best.
They are the support mechanism that helps us drive sport so successfully!
It is time now for us all to trade in our shares that we invested in sport and
count how much more we have earned and learned. The stock increase can be
easily seen in your sons who have a greater pride in themselves and the school
as a result of their investment. I hope that next year we can invest the same
and even more!
I wish every family a safe and enjoyable Christmas break and look forward to
doing it all again and better in 2011!
TERM ONE 2011 – ACC
Wednesday February 2 nd - Senior Cricket team plays Parade at Parade. Senior
students will play cricket and then be transported to the Year 12 Retreat at the
end of the match by Staff.
Volley ball, tennis and 2nds Cricket will begin the week after.
OBLATE CARNIVAL-Monday 6 th – Thursday 9th
If you would like to watch some top grade cricket in the first week of the
holidays then come down to the College Oval on Monday the 6 th to watch Iona
College play Mazenod Western Australia. On Tuesday Mazenod Vic will play
Mazenod WA and on Thursday the 9 th Mazenod Vic will play Iona College in the
Oblate Cup. All games are 50/50 over’s and play starts at 9.30am. Come down
and support our team captained by Robert Howes and Kevin Tessera.
VOLLEY BALL NATIONALS
The Nationals start on the same Monday as the cricket and we have every team
n Honours Division. This Division determines who the best schools in the nation
are. If you have some time and would like to see Volley ball at its nest then you
can watch at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre in Albert Park and also
at The Victorian Volley ball Centre at Dandenong basketball Stadium in Stud Rd.
There are over 400 teams competing so we wish all our players well. Good luck
in particular to Mr Damian Schuman who has spent all year preparing our
students for this event in conjunction with staff and Old boys who will come in
to coach, drive, and cook, supervise and support!
